  1. I have never seen the Dees tackle like that. It was Richmond-like. Absolutely epic effort.
  2. I think the last decade or so has shown us that it's not top draft picks that make a club successful. Melbourne tried that trick and fell flat on their face. Carlton has had more no. 1 picks than any other side including the two expansions, and look at the good it's done them. Our own example shows that the back-end needs to be properly run before things come together on-field. Rather than worrying about the loss of talented but unfulfilled players, GCS need to get their act together off-field. That is where the AFL can really help them out, just as they did with us. None of this Priority Pick rubbish that both GC and Carlton are asking for.
  3. I don't know if it helps, but i had success with their mobile site. Never got past the queue on my pc though. I do plan on writing to whoever it is that keeps inflicting these muppets on us to strongly urge them to take their business elsewhere.
  4. If this happens I will laugh myself silly, but also be somewhat annoyed because the difficulty of getting tickets to the first final will increase dramatically and we'll be sharing the MCG with 70000 Richmond fans.
  5. Hogan is playing injured. He needs a week or two off, but we can't afford to drop him this close to finals. I'd say drop him this week since we're no chance of winning but he would probably like to go to Perth.
  6. Coniglio is a free agent and would be a big upgrade on Tyson. I could see him being a good fit for Goodwin's style. Jack Martin is contracted until the end of next year, but I'd love us to make a play for him. He'd be a great fit swinging between wing and HF. Has pace, marks well above his head and can win contested ball when he needs to. I also wouldn't mind us sounding out Daniel Rich. He's a good solid player with an exceptional boot and we are desperate for good footskills.

I'm happy with this call. He has experience with a genuine powerhouse in Collingwood. With luck he'll have a good idea of hw to help Melbourne expand.
  8. His problem isn't lack of opportunity. When he's fit he plays. The problem is that he's constantly injured. That's not going to change with another club and I doubt that other teams are going to want to take the chance given his history. Best he can hope for is Fremantle I would think.
  9. Quick note here on Bert. He felt that he didn't have time to work up a relationship with the existing set of assistant coaches and support staff in the Australian camp, so he's paying the wages of his own team of assistants, analysts and scouts out of his own pocket. I'm really hoping that the support team in the Football Australia had in place are still hanging around and learning from these guys. That experience will be priceless when Arnold takes over after the World Cup. Article.
  10. Seventeen years old and half a head shorter than his Father. Can we expect a late growth spurt from him? Not that he really needs it, but it would be an added bonus if he wound up his Dad's size and build.
  11. Best part of this is that he was being chased by a number of clubs and chose to come to the MFC.
  12. Honestly, the photo's are quite reassuring. Look at the focus on his face when he's kicking. He may not have the body, but that makes me think he might have the mental side covered. Hope I'm not reading too much into a few pictures.
  13. Don't forget sliding knees-first into grounded opponents.
  14. The pathway only gets them onto an AFL list. I said nothing about what happens next.
  15. I think I'm actually most excited by this guy. He has the two things we desperately need in pace and kicking skills. He could be a real bargain.
  16. Casey has been amazing as an AFL pathway. Look at the guys who have been picked up from there. Silvagni, Mohr, McInerney, Smith, Keilty, and now Fritsch. There may be others as well that I've missed. That's a pretty great record for a VFL side. I don't know how many others have produced that many mature-aged recruits.
  17. He looks to be a decent kick and can certainly get his own ball, but I don't see this pace everyone is talking about. He's certainly not even close to Boomer Harvey in that respect. I note that the Fox panel had Moore ranked at 11. We took Spargo instead, presumably because of his reputation for being competitive. I guess time will tell, but I think the Hawks got a bargain.
  18. This one is going to take a few years before we really consider giving him games I would think. The great advantage of having a strong line-up with some depth behind it is that you can take your time with the kids and not play them until they are ready.
  19. I want it to, but I think they're missing some key points with their planning.
  20. Get real? We have the worst disposal in the league. We have no forward structure. Our greatest strength is a brigade of tough nut midfielders who can't kick. We have never seen any evidence that our talls are able to work with each other instead of getting in each others' way. The team still falls asleep for large portions of games. Realistically, I think we're a damn good chance to go backwards next year.
  21. Is it wrong that I'm hoping to see them take the flag next year? Assuming that we don't of course.
  22. Again, not a single tackle in the entire reel. I'd love to hear from someone who's seen him play whether he puts in defensively.
  23. He's exciting, but I didn't see any tackling on that clip.
  24. It's great that we've got Lever to the club. I rated him as a junior and he's shown himself to be a quality player ever since. However, I can't agree with paying that much to get the trade done. We paid more for Lever than Geelong paid for Dangerfield. That's a damn poor deal in my book.
