GAMEDAY - Elimination Final
RalphiusMaximus replied to Rod Grinter Riot Squad's topic in Melbourne Demons
That quarter was bad Demons. We stopped looking for targets forward and started kicking long to the contest. Mental lapse. Hopefully they get their heads sorted for next quarter. -

GAMEDAY - Elimination Final

Just got to the MCG. I see an awful lot of Geelong jumpers in our members' area already. Pretty sure you needed a Dees membership to buy these, so how did they get access? -
How many times have we said that? We come in with all the momentum, the Hawks playing like rubbish, and they take a scalpel to us and win by 50 points. It's not a matter of them being rubbish or us playing well. Their game style takes us apart every single time. We just don't have any answers to their precision kicking game.
-
I have to say it. This is frightening. Richmond are looking awesome. Also, if we win tomorrow we get the Hawks on the rebound. They've torn us apart every time we played them. It may seem odd, but they are the team I least wanted to run into as we seem to have no answers to their game.

Tom Lynch, free agency and equalization

I think the last decade or so has shown us that it's not top draft picks that make a club successful. Melbourne tried that trick and fell flat on their face. Carlton has had more no. 1 picks than any other side including the two expansions, and look at the good it's done them. Our own example shows that the back-end needs to be properly run before things come together on-field. Rather than worrying about the loss of talented but unfulfilled players, GCS need to get their act together off-field. That is where the AFL can really help them out, just as they did with us. None of this Priority Pick rubbish that both GC and Carlton are asking for. -
Interesting. This is one of the stats that Roos was always talking about. We needed to win more quarters. Amazing what happens when we do.

I don't know if it helps, but i had success with their mobile site. Never got past the queue on my pc though. I do plan on writing to whoever it is that keeps inflicting these muppets on us to strongly urge them to take their business elsewhere.

Good to see they have the most boring fixture on during the day. Given the history, we should have a close, high-scoring game, so it's only right we get a decent timeslot for it.

Comments from the Rooty Hill End (GWS fan forum)

It was very noticeable at the ground how little support they had. Their cheer squad basically took up the two rows directly behind the goal. Other than that, nothing. They really are The Spice Girls. -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 23

6 - Harmes. It says something when your tagger is being held at the bounce. He is becoming a genuine star. 5 - Gus. Just plays a great all-round midfielders game. 4 - Gawn. Thought Lobbe showed him up early on around the ground, but Max dominated the ruck and worked hard to counter Lobbe's forward running. 3 - Frost. Could have been higher. He's really settled into the role as last defender, using his pace to close down space and generate counter-attack. 2 - Salem. Not prolific, but he rarely wasted a touch. 1 - TMac. Got us on the board early. Had his kicking boots on today. -
Mostly ok, but those two free goals they tried to give away are a big problem.
-
Incidentally, there are maybe 50 GWS supporters behind their goal. Virtually nonexistent cheer squad over there. If supporters count for anything we should get over the line.
-
Umps gave them a couple of free shots to end the half. Fortunately justice prevailed and they missed. A little worried we'll have a one man bench in the second half.

Words to live by.

Port are pretty bad. You'd have to be a shocking side to drop a game to them. ? But seriously, with the amount of talent they have on the park, there's no way they should be this bad. They have absolutely no confidence and their defensive zone is being torn apart by the bombers' pace. Interesting to see how well Francisis playing given nobody wanted to touch him this time last year. Also interesting to see Watts. He's gone backwards this year. Zero contested work, not even close to winning his own ball. He has however been good when others get the ball to him.
-
That's not a bad side at all. I agree Dangermouse and Rance are in on reputation rather than performance, but Martin is predicted to be leading the brownlow right now, so you could say he's having a decent season. Oliver on the bench isn't the end of the world, and with Cripps, Mitchell and Martin as extractors in the starting side you can see why he'd be left out.

I'm still hoping to see two meter Peter in red and blue. He's got the skill-set, he's got the size , he's friends with Lever and he's a dirty bastard.

If Freo beat Pies and we beat GWS I will ...
RalphiusMaximus replied to Bleeds_Red_&_Blue's topic in Melbourne Demons
If this happens I will laugh myself silly, but also be somewhat annoyed because the difficulty of getting tickets to the first final will increase dramatically and we'll be sharing the MCG with 70000 Richmond fans. -
I don't believe he'll leave the dogs, but if ye did I'd be happy to have him.
-
Pretty sure I can change the format when I get home.
-
Does this help? Win.avi I guess this thing doesn't play .avi's huh?
-
Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but if Collingwood and Sydney both go down next week and we win, we'll take fourth spot.
-
I can't see Petracca or ANB making the cut. Harmes could be a smokey. Brayshaw and Oliver are both very good chances. Fritsch, who knows?
-
Worse. We did everything we could possibly think of to hand them the game and still only lost by nine points. The entire team were diabolical and they still almost fluked the win. They actually WORKED at losing. The put effort into it.
