Great call from a great captain. He's been an absolute champion for the club and carried the team for close to a decade. Now he needs to focus on keeping himself fit and firing so he'll still be there if and when we challenge again. He deserves to play in a GF.

Wonder if we can sack Goodwin and offer Yze the senior coaching spot next year...

We need to sink some time, effort and money into our own NGA. If the club did it right we'd have a steady stream of talent coming in.

Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)

Speed, marking and goal-kicking. We need all of these things. His size is an added bonus. I'd love him in the side. -
Not that unequal. We have a potential goldmine if the club puts the work in. Our zone has a massive Sudanese population. If the club pull's it's collective finger out and gets active recruiting and running academies for these kids we'll be able to pull in some serious talents.

I'm underwhelmed by this list. None of them are required players. I'd rather see Frosty get another deal.

Have to say, Matisse Stynes does a great job with the media. Obviously she's had a lot of practice by now, but she speaks really well.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
RalphiusMaximus replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just to be clear, we wouldn't need to use a pick on him. He's a Delisted Free Agent. If we came to an agreement with him he'd be a free hit. With that in mind, I wouldn't mind taking a punt. We're in a bad position list-wise in that we've brought in too many inside contested beasts and no outside players to balance things. This is a player who could fill one of those spots and go a long way towards balancing the side better. He costs us nothing to bring over and would probably take a pretty low contract to get himself back into the system. Sign him up to a two year contract, tell him he's got to show the team that he's committed on the training track and spend time helping Nev with his community work. I say two years because he won't be able to do a full pre-season this year. If we gave him that time to get his body sorted and then put the pressure on in the next year we'd see what he really has to offer. -
I don't know if you're trolling or not Ron, but I'd be thrilled if he came back to us. He is strong everywhere that we are weak. His kicking is as good as any in the league and most importantly he was the number one player in the league for retaining possession with inside 50 passes. He would love playing off HB as the spare tall/intercept marker alongside Lever and May. It's his best position and we saw this year how well he plays it. As for his contested work. He went 1-3 against Weed, TMac and The Bull in a marking contest and absolutely destroyed them. He's not a contested beast, but he does ok.

I'm not a big fan of drafting all these tiny players.
-
Collingwood have a long and proud history of putting up with all sorts of crap from their players as long as they can play, so he wasn't dropped for being a [censored]. Must mean that either his injury issues are too much or he has fatal flaws in his game.
-
You're not?
-
I still say that's more a coaching issue than a problem with the players.
-
I'd be mightily peeved if we lost Frosty. He's just gotten his game sorted out. He's fast, powerful and more durable than our other key defenders. We can't let him walk, especially not to the bloody Hawks.
-
This is a good situation. If we get him, that's great. If we don't get him, I don't think anybody will be horribly upset. We can't lose.

Cody Weightman (Drafted by Western Bulldogs)

I wouldn't base my drafting on what the Saints are doing. They have some pretty poor form when it comes to top ten picks. -

Damnit Man! You've ruined everything! Our entire trade period has just fallen in a heap because you couldn't keep your mouth shut. This is a Deesaster! ? -
https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-08-27/star-giant-rejects-bigmoney-offers-to-sign-massive-sevenyear-deal That's going to create some chaos for the next few weeks.

Does anyone think we won when we traded pick 2 for Tyson and Salem? I am not a fan of this plan.
-
I'd take him if he's going for bugger all. He's capable of big bags, which puts him ahead of most of our forwards at this stage. His goal-kicking is suspect too, so he'll fit in well.

Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)

So he has the two things we know we need to bring into the side. I'd prefer Anderson, but if we can't have him, this guy looks like a good pick up. -
Lachlan Ash (Drafted by Fremantle)

Sounds like a question about his kicking. Pass. The last thing we need is to bring in another Grimes on HB. -
I was thinking about this on the weekend. The Cats have some very talented players being kept out of the senior side this year. The first one I thought of was Buzza, who isn't necessarily that great, but there are plenty more. Nakia Cockatoo isn' t getting senior games. Narkle is being kept out by Ablett and Dahlhaus. Jamaine Jones as well. Any other likely looking players we might be able to poach?

I've always rated this kid and would love him at the club. Play him as a HFF/Wing. He's very good over his head, a good kick and can win his own ball when he needs to. He'd be a great get for us. Sadly, I'm still backing the Hawks to get his signature.
