Watts! Assist to vandenBerg. Fast transition suits us far more than bombing to the boundary.
-
Three Pies get up and reveal Viney under the pack. No In the back call from the ump, but we got a goal anyway.
-
Shocking bit of umpiring.
-
Watts should have had a free about 30m out right in front there. Umpire bounces instead.
-
Great first quarter. 18 point lead. We've been hunting them hard and forcing turnovers. The question now is of course whether we can keep doing it. Remember that we've been in this position before and kicked one more goal for the match.
-
Watts outbodies Swan for a loose ball. Unheard-of! HE then slipped over and got flattened. Normality restored.
-
Mancrush on Viney is growing. The kid has really come on this year. Edit. Having said that he then missed from point blank range.
-
Random free for Witts in the ruck. Our defence is more than up to it, but we turned it over with a shocking kick.
-
Where was this passing game the last few weeks? Four goals already.
-
Great chasedown from Watts on Sidebottom.
-
Tyson tackle on a collingwood player. No HTB call despite prior opportunity and no disposal. Fortunately the Pies are having a shocker for scoring goals. We ran it full length of the field for a Garlett Goal.
-
Varcoe just dropped a knee on Viney's face in full view of the umpire. Umpire had stern words to him but no free.
-
Hair trigger HTB call on Tyson there. Fortunately Jetta took a screamer at CHB for us.
-
Fasolo finally kicks straight. Bastard. He's playing FF and just leading straight out of the square at full pace. Good kicking to hit him up.
-
Assist to Watts, credit to Viney for making space for him. Vince finishes the job.
-
First two minutes, we've seen: Gawn gets the hitout, Pies get the clearance. Umpire makes an incorrect call on incorrect disposal resulting in a shot on goal for the pies. Jones plays on for no reason and turns it over. Grimes took too long to kick, put himslef under pressure and kicked out on the full. Standard Melbourne game.
-
We don't have clean hands. I maintain that this is the biggest issue with our clearance work. That little moment where they fumble and have to make a second grab to take the ball is all it takes for an opponent to get a grip on them and either force another stoppage or knock the ball out.

I'm not sure I buy that O'Meara is in doubt to come back. If, as they say, this is an injury more common in the NFL then it's an injury upon which immense resources have been brought to bear to find the best treatments. A little research has revealed that the Suns have indeed been in touch with NFL people, and have put Jaeger in touch with NFL players who are recovering from it to help him get his head around the injury. It's going to take a while before he's ready to play again, but I don't doubt he'll be there.

Don't forget that we beat them again this year.

The AFL like to tell us that they are world-class. They use terms like "Worlds Best Practice." Sadly the reality is that they are so fr form being world class in any aspect of their administration that they can't even see the guys they need to be emulating. If they want to get themselves up to scratch, they need to clean out AFL house and import some real talent from the some of the really big sports like the NFL or EPL.
-
Bloody Richmond! They're as bad as the Roos for tipping.

DO away with the AFL Commission and the attendant committees involved in messing with rules and interpretations. Make the umpires a fully professional body with real accountability, bonuses for the best performed and penalties for not meeting targets. Adjudicate solely by the rule as written with no interference by the game's administrators. To help them remember their place, all administrators to have their job titles changed to Facilitators. If all of that fails, give them shock collars. Take a sample of 50 supporters from each side and give them red buttons. If 60 buttons are pushed on any call (or non-call) the umpire is shocked. They'd learn pretty damn quickly that way.

Casey Scorpions v Werribee Tigers
RalphiusMaximus replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting that they've named Harmes -
If you want Hogan to dominate you need the midfield to get the ball to him properly.

Something like: vandenBerg should have played a few games in the VFL first to get his mojo back rather than being rushed back into the senior side. We should drop him and let him find his feet again before bringing him back for the last handful of games. Stretch has potential, but he's not ready. As with ANB, send him back to Casey and let him see how much he's improved. Replace them with Jordie McKenzie and ANB, Riley, or Newton as the best of the midfield bunch from Casey.
