  1. Not really. If the bookies worst result was Oliver there is an incentive for dodgy umpires to not award Oliver 3 votes for example. Plausable deniability that they awarded Mihocek the votes. There are a large number of ways the potential corruption could play out
  2. Are you seriously comparing a potential tainted or corrupt betting scandal with an irrelevant comment about general bias in an industry award? 'It might be corrupt but its OK and we can't say anything because a fwd - who rarely get votes - received votes' OK then
  3. 2021 was team first football. 2022 was not. Bayley was part of that Problem with your argument is twofold. If he doesn't kick the goal we lose. If he burns team mates they stop running to make position and they stop kicking to him if he is in a better position. We lose We are a better team when we play team first. Simples.
  4. Colour me shocked. One of the two games that was red-flagged was Melb Coll on QB Magpies forward Brody Mihocek was the surprise winner of the three votes on Brownlow Medal night with his 16 disposals and four goals edging out Demons superstar Clayton Oliver who on the day was awarded the Neale Daniher Trophy for his 43-possession game.
  5. I get why SEN do it, They are desperate for revenue of any description Bit the AFL....hmm
  6. Say what you like but we got beaten 8 times the same way. Sounds pretty stubborn to me
  7. "Guarantee" He doesn't do that. Rarely rests players
  8. Agree with this. I would add that there is a danger we have recruited similar style replacements (although Grundy, Hunter are upgrades) and the temptation will be for Stubborn Simon to roll out the same game plan on the basis that we were 2nd on the ladder and were ahead in all games so something must be right. We need to change our gameplan to take account of teams that don't kick long to May and Lever The most instructive games were Collingwood , Sydney and Geelong that completely restructured their game plan to beat us. If we don't learn from that we are cooked.
  9. Hmm, I see Grundy as a better short term option than Jackson so it might be that Goodwin is licking his lips saying 'now I can really see our strategy working'. He is to me quite stubborn so it wouldn't surprise if he tries to keep the same game plan but with better personnel. And that would be a worry because teams picked apart our game plan this year. 9 times teams kicked more than 90 pts against us vs once in 2021 We were stagnant and predictable this year. Everyone knows we were beaten the same way. And if teams don't kick it long to Lever and May we aren't very good at defending. Our record against Coll and Syd are atrocious. I think it would be a big mistake not to evolve our game plan and introduce some flexibility into it. Grundy will give us options and I hope we build a suite of options for different scenarios
  10. Yep. You'd think highlights would contain some highlights From that package he wouldn't appear to have a single attribute other than being tallish I could get more excited about Phillipou
  11. Big Pass, nothing in those highlights says he is got the mongrel to be a player.
  12. Suspect they have done that and know that answers Doubt they will air them publicly The question will be whether the coaching staff change the game plan or continue with the same old same old that got them to second on the ladder I hope they add variety because clubs have worked us out and the predictability killed us 8 x 90 pts or more scored against us vs 2021 only one did that happen.
  13. If BBB plays like he did in the final third of the season then he should never play again in the red and blue. Moved like the mechano man in cement and had Chris Dawes concrete hands.
  14. At the risk of stating the obvious its got nothing to do with how many disposals a players has. It's what he does with them, how he plays to teams structures and how he competes against him opponent.
  15. Sure did: Melbourne has lost Jackson, who is going to be an A-grade player, given how athletic he is and the fact he has played well in a premiership. I thought if they needed to get salary cap relief to bring Grundy in, they could have given up a James Harmes, Ed Langdon, Jayden Hunt or Charlie Spargo type. Maybe even an Alex Neal-Bullen. Langdon is coming off a very good year, but they are the sort of players Melbourne can cover because they have a lot of them on their list.
  16. According to Buckenara we should move Ed on. What a peanut.
  17. In terms of a breakout - ie shown potential but not put it together consistently - Tom Sparrow for mine. Has all the tools, needs a bit more composure and needs to nail his disposal more often. Does that and he becomes a bona fide weapon.
  18. He always stops and props. Completely destroys momentum. So much so that I suspected he has been instructed to do this to allow the mids to move forward.
  19. One of my faves Seemed to stagnate a bit this year tho but is young and gaining more confidence every game. He is very lucky to be playing in the shadow of two potential legends and can go on learning the caper without undue pressure. Looking fwd to a big '23
  20. Himmelberg has been reinvented as a defender. He was an ordinary fwd IMO He's also an academy player I believe so might be hard to prise out of GWS
  21. It seems we call it his last season every year but boy has he been an important cog for us. Would love for him to continue uninjured into 2023
  22. IF he can get back to his 2021 form he could be a valuable player If not he should never play again for the red and blue. His second half of the year was abysmal. He looked like the mechano man running in concrete and his in ability to take a clean grab was devastating. We clearly need TMac to come back all healed
  23. Like the look of this lad....
  24. Well its a palindrome for a start....
  25. That is so facetious :) (oh, snap!)
