From memory last time we played Carlton we trialled a change in game plan the week before the pies game. We played a very high restrictive pies and held Carlton to a v low score. We would have smashed them but for poor kicking which was something like 8g 17b I imagine we'll do similar

90% men with facial hair?

Is there another game in the professional world where the referees are required to have a significant skill? That includes boundary umpires...

Who could forget your poster child OMac 😀

Doesn't supercoach weight last quarters higher. That would skew the numbers.

I see what you did there

The Pies play on fumes. They have been doing it for a year or so. Its incredibly taxing. As is having to come from behind all the time. They're good but their game style is absolutely beatable as we showed. I maintain we changed our game plan against Carlton as a training run for the collingwood game. We kicked something like 16g 40b in those two games but kept them both to small scores. We have since changed the way we play considerably. BUt we know what to do to beat those sides. We are tracking nicely and no one wants to play us in finals.

Footy is a game of mistakes. Everyone makes them

Petty has a dual role. He is a great mark and defender. So he played defensive fwd on Boltaand gave us a target. He is a natural kick. Very capable of kicking 3 and 4 on a regular basis and gives cover to JVR

We have played more aggressively in the past 3 weeks against sides that are offensively v good. Carlton and Coll we played a very high press to hold the ball in. The last 3 weeks we haven't pushed up as high. Teams that move the ball by hand and overlap running work their way through our midfield. If you kick the ball long and high v melb you will lose. So teams try low and dirty balls as our ground ball gets in defence aren't the best. Most goals yesterday were from stoppage which is highly unusual. Balls coming in fast are hard to defend. Particularly centre bounces That's my 2 cents worth

This is downright pathetic by the umpires. He's one of the best players in the game and time and tuime again Soldo would charge straight at Max with no eyes for theball. The goal he got was a free to Max. In the centre Max was dragged to the ground with the ump looking straight at it but no free. Happened everywhere. There needs to be a major complaint laid. Teams cant handle Max If Dusty gotthat treatment he would get 40 frees a game.

Not only did Petty grab a bag he blanketed Bolta who has been their leading interceptor. Viney since Oliver went down has been supreme Kudos to the coaching staff that changed their offensive attack 3/4 weeks ago We are letting more scores through but have multiple avenues to goal Last week it was the smalls this week it was the Talls. We are very hard to match up on and have great flexibility. Gee I like Pickett when he goes in the middle. Just wish he would go their mid quarter rather than just at the start

The umpire that watched gawn get dragged to the ground should never umpire again

Melk jvr chandler nowhere near it today

Tiges have had 10 shots from 11 i50s. Our inability to pressure the ball carrier delivering is killing us. Midfield is being pantsed

There's every chance petty plays a defensive role on Bolta

The helicopter view suggests the team has in the past two weeks opened up its scoring options. I am away so haven't really analysed it too much but it seems we are getting more scoring shots but taking more risks hence the scores against have gone higher. 93 pts and 104 pts are the highest against this year (save for rd 2 when we played bris and conceded 93 pts) I am wondering whether this is because we are now somewhat locked into a top 4 spot so can break the shackles a little more offensively? And are less concerned about holding teams to low scores?

When he was used as a defensive fwd on Tom McCartin and we beat Sydney.

In the game day thread I posted about Adelaide's big number differential in tackling and a few nuffies replied 'aww thats cos they haven't got he ball' Tackles inside 50 Adelaide 13 Melbourne 1. I'll leave it at that and let the nuffies try to work it out
