Grand Final Eve Public Holiday confirmed
jnrmac replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah I do actually I own one. Which I suspect is more than can be said of your 'credentials' on this issue. And I won't be opening on this public holiday because I will have to pay $35 an hour for unskilled staff. The day will be a dud anyway and it will cost around $1500 in wages to have the doors open. The margins are way to thin as well./ But thanks for your small business lecture in any case. -
Lachie Henderson has requested a trade. The Blues are making him sit out the last 3 games of the year. Good for us I suppose ... This is what's happening now. Players naming their destination and saying 'stuff you' to the clubs. I hope the Blues play hard ball ... Is he someone we want??

Interesting jab Watson came good one summer, somewhat miraculously. A bit like Ben Cousins did. Beefcaked up and became invincible....

So the blueprint for beating a doping ban is to: a) destroy records b) drag out the process through spurious legal action c) generate sympathetic media coverage d) thumb your nose at authorities e) obfuscate authorities at every opportunity f) blame doping authorities for dragging the chain and for botching the investigation That will work well for future cases. World sport will be ruined forever. The players have not missed one game. Compare that to the many Olympians that have received long bans OR who have missed one Olympic games (effectively a life ban for many). They simply cannot let the players off. The major reason they have gone on this long is the actions of their own club and themselves.

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
jnrmac replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am sure that Bruce and the admin at the time did not handle the situation well but the fact remains he was offered a 1yr contract with a games clause that would have given him 2 yrs. He chose to leave and accept a 1 yr deal on lesser money. No doubt he saw what had happened to Junior and said to himself 'old players are being turfed so my chances of getting a 2nd year are slim' or some such. History will show that the club was right because Bruce was unable to complete a 2nd year in any case due to injury. Bruce was a great servant of the club but IMO had zero leadership skills in a time where we were sadly lacking them. He, Robbo, Yze and White threw the towel in regularly towards the last part of their careers in games where we were getting flogged and they were gifted games in the end they should not have got. All in all it was an appalling time at the club. -

No one is seriously suggesting changing coaches. The suggestions are that Roos is not above criticism. There are plenty here that says he can do no wrong. He has done some really good things but criticism is warranted about the unpreparedness of the team (getting smashed in the 1st qtr two weeks running for example) and the inconsistency in effort shown. The fact that the players cannot implement a game plan is a major concern as is the fact that the team was consistently beaten by oppositions leaving a spare man in defence. The consultant has plenty of work to do. -
Had to laugh at Slobbo's article today where he said James was going to be sacked after the EFC B&F.... He and others from the club pilloried Caroline Wilson over her article that said the same thing.... Their head is so far up the club they can't see the sunshine....

There is a rose coloured view right there. Junior is the only one of those we should have kept. The others were not leaders in any way shape or form and aside from Green were gifted games they didn't deserve at the end. Bruce also chose to leave to go to hawthorn on a 1y deal for less money. What does that say about his great leadership skills and loyalty to the club? -

Wow. The ignorance in this post is breathtaking. -
McDevitt from ASADA was angered by Hird’s repeated debasing of the joint ASADA and AFL investigation into the program that ran at Windy Hill in 2012. He said the departed coach needed to accept responsibility. “He has repeatedly referred to this as the ASADA scandal and did again today. Don’t blame ASADA for doing its job. Blame him and others for not doing theirs,” McDevitt said. “This is not the ASADA scandal. It is the Essendon scandal and will go down in history as such.” Snap

So $2.5bn for 6 yrs compared with $1.25bn for 4 yrs (2012-2016). That's $416m a year compared to $312m a year. Very handy increase and being for longer provides a lot more certainty. Just have to stop pizzing it up against the wall on GWS and GC.

Won't be long before they do. It will be every man for himself when the suspensions start.....

You clearly dont run a small business. There is no way people will cop that. And BTW casual pay rates go from c$20ph to c$35ph, a lot more than 20%. -

So that excuses a 137 point turnaround from 6 weeks ago does it? You are delusional if you think that. -
NewsCorp reporting that a press conference will be held later today to announce a new $2bn broadcast deal. (and throw some high fives now that Hird has gone) They must be pizzed that Hird has yet again spoiled their 'good news' story and stolen the headlines. The supposed $2bn is a long way up on the $1.25bn deal signed in 2011. That's inflation for you.... Telstra supposedly still has the digital rights....

They have just killed the GF parade.... (And its a payback to the unions that got Andrews voted in) -
Hird’s comments when he took over – ‘the club can’t get much worse than this ….’. Bwah ha hahhahaahhahahah !

Yeah I am. Its not that hard. Roos makes it sound as if they are studying for a PHD. Its crap. Its football. The Dogs have managed it in a fraction of the time we have, So have the Saints, The Dogs have such luminaries as: Tom Cambell Jack Redpath Sam Darley Jarryd Grant (who kicked 3 1st qtr goals FFS) Shane Biggs Joel Hamling Caleb Daniel To play the way we did, and have done in half our games this year is abysmal and should not be looked on as 'part of the learning curve' or 'Roos finding out who really wants to play for the MFC'. That is simply pathetic. These are professionals. Some aren't very good mind you but most teams have NQR players. Its our game plan and match day preparation that is frankly deficient. And that is the job of the coaching staff. They have a lot to answer for. -
