TRAINING: Wednesday 2nd April 2025
His last 9 games he has been goalless 4 times and not kicked more then 2 goals in a game His total lack of impact in first halves is frankly disgraceful and has been for 2 seasons.

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Don't like your odds. He's only done it twice since the 21 GF. But its more the lack of defensive pressure and inability to get the ball that sees him woefully out of form. In a system based game its cancerous if one player cant tackle or play a defensive role. I hope you're right but if Goodwin doesn't drop him it sends a crud signal to everyone else. Selection integrity out the window yet again

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
You know its true. Max was never going to play second fiddle and stay in the fwd line We always knew Grundy couldnt kick goals (or mark) As good as Max is - and I love him - its very arguable he has been a detriment to our side of late as the game plan has been built around him and opp cubs have workd it it. IN addition our players always bomb it to Max as an outlet. Chris Scott first worked it out and I fully expect Max to be nullified this week as they physically target him, jump all over him, smash the ball 3-5m where the Geelong players will rove to it and rebound Bookmark it

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
I doubt that If he doesn't get the message to work harder and provide defensive pressure then he can stay there as far as I am concerned. We are playing one down with him.

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
If Fritsch isn't dropped it tells you everything about Goodwin and being too close to the players. Selection integrity has always been a failing for Goodwin. Its one of the reasons Jordon and Bedford left. Our standards have dropped alarmingly and someone needs to pay.

Imagine the happy clappers - who have been very very quiet - coming out of the woodwork if we win. You know who you are

Time to go Goody?
This is ultimately the problem Our leaders aren't really that at all.

Time to go Goody?
At the moment we are repeatedly kicking to 2 on 1 contests, Uber frustrating

I have heard Gawn say its not fitness. They feel they are super fit after the pre-season. My feel is the instinct is gone and the resulting confusion looks terrible. They are not sure where to run, how to position themselves etc This accords with my view from the top deck of the G - I moved from the wing to behind the goals during the game and it seems obvious that they don't know what to do instinctively. The bees to the honeypot at centre bounce is classic everybody trying too hard and system has gone out the window. But worse is the running to spread when we have the ball. This creates congestion and puts a huge pressure on the ball carrier to hit targets. It so much easier to kick the ball to space and let a team mate run to it. But that takes a lot of co-ordination and team work. By the end of the game they appear to throw in the towel Alarming was the lack of tackling (and ineffectiveness), missed handballs, poor kicking and generally deplorable skills. This was evident in te first quarter where May missed several kicks, rivers missed the ball with his hand when handballing and numerous handballs to players feet. But for me it starts at the coal face. We have 3 butchers in the middle that are not gelling and seem more content to wrestle their opponents. They are being pushed to the contest and the outside becomes a danger zone for us.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
GC started the 3rd quarter centre clearances 7- 0 We were hopeless and Jeff White has identified some of the problems Structural but also self imposed pressure where players like Viney have no confidence in their team mate and so repeatedly dives into a contest leaving a GC player on the outside. This is the classic bees to the honeypot and our bad old days. Because the mids are under pressure they seem to have reverted to these poor standards.

Harvey Langford Rising Star nomination Rd 3
Great job Harvey. A bright spot on a dark day

Internal expectations
I think most of us were reasonably happy with rd 1. The effort was there. Rd 2 and rd 3 saw an alarming drop off in basic skills - chest marks, tackling, kicking, handballing, two way running etc. Our expectations are that we know how to do those basics already (except for goal kicking which is a shambles). Getting the ball turned over because we are trying to run and handball fwd or kick into the corridor etc is something we can live with short term. What the club has dished up is sadly reminiscent of the dark days of 2012-2013

The problem I have is that this might be true of us. But it doesn't excuse missed tackles, dropped chest marks, handballs to feet and 20m kicks to the opposition. And losing clearance and woeful leg speed. Oh and our fwd 50 entries. Fundamentals of any game plan. Other than that I get your point.

I'd really like to see Campbell play. Scott has a history of targeting Max - and Max's for has been down - so some aggression from Tom might give our mids a lift

That would send a strong signal Fritsch is next to useless at the moment so a shake up is no worse than what we are getting.

Internal expectations
I think the club would back itself to be returning to finals contention. Most likely shellshocked that the players are struggling with the change of game plan. I know I am
