  1. Having watched both games yesterday I’d go: In May and McVee Out Turner and Sharp Melky sub Emerg; Fritta, Adam’s, Laurie
  2. I was there also; Roo I agree; thought Fritta was ok and had a go; we scored when he was involved. Fritta for Melky or leave as is - can’t play em both.
  3. Gruzewski was easily the best tall forward on the ground. Derkson comfortably beat Van Roo. Aleer would be very useful.
  4. Headed out to Casey for the first time today (much closer to our Easter location than the G) - pretty impressed with the oval quality and overall facilities around Casey Fieds. Ovals everywhere. On the field a really ordinary day, was expecting so much more. If we need a key forward Thursday vs Tigers I’d pick in order: Fritta Jeffo AJ Roo Fritta did a few nice things and showed some desperation- too good for VFL. Roo is along way off, really sad to see how poor his form is. Hopefully the lead and goal late gives some confidence. Was pleasantly surprised with Kentfied down back; he very hard in a contest, looks likely intercept marking, kicks it ok. Mid wise maybe Culley. Baldi pretty good. Love Bonner on our list.
  5. McVee and Fritta did run throughs at 3Q with Tom Couch watching on. Sat out last quarter.
  6. Hoyney had some interesting stats on SEN from Geelongs last 50 games. Simply if they less than average (41%) time with ball they lose, more they win. Saints controlled the ball for 3Q and beat them, Lions did in 2nd half. So…..having good skills to hit targets and control ball is key this week - not just bang it down the line OR switch inside and miss your target by 10m and turn it over! simples….
  7. Well what a sobering experience. I thought we’d be top 8 and push for top 4 this year. Pre season seemed to be going well yet we hit round 1 with some key players missing. We need elite talent; not having Windsor and Kolt hurts - with XL and Harvey they are the future. I’d expected much more from Clarry and Trac - though after Rd 1 I was pretty upbeat - that was a quality game. Then these last 2 weeks happened. Simply slaughtered around the ball and centre bounce - from there we ain’t good enough to sling shot 50 times a game to score. Where to now? No idea - but I’ll be there supporting. About to buy tickets to the Cats game with my boys - Kozzie is back, go Demons!

Been chatting with someone close to this opportunity in the venues industry and many contacts in AFL. Not this budget, but the next one - this goes ahead was their belief. Looking forward to very likely but a few things to sort. AFL wants it to happen.
  9. My boss son has been invited to the Magpies NGA as he was born in Singapore. His family is an Anglo white Aussie as you’d ever meet - born while dad worked in Singapore! It’s a farce
  10. Had a lot to do with Ben 15 years ago - not sure since then but always a ripping guy and excellent mentor. Good outcome I think; if nothing else players will respect him with what he’s done and who with.

Could he play CHB in VFL and be a backup tall back? His height would help vs a Harry McKay, King bros. Darcy etc in time. Still young enough to play 60-100 games by age 31-32.
  12. I like this; Petty going back, BBB retired, Shack Attack delisted…..a void of tall forwards to play 20 games at Casey next year and possibly 2-3 at AFL. Gives us some depth and maturity. A strong Casey is important to a strong MFC - yes he will mostly play VFL. Fullarton a bust it seems. Although he and Johnson our tall forwards at Casey with Kentfield and Jeffo playing some AFL.
  13. Good outcome

    First goal Blues
  15. I’m starting to feel positive overall for the first time in ages. Smith a huge get, for culture leadership and professional management. He’s already saying the right things. We’ve got another 3 years in our window, next 6 months super important- game on. well done to Brad Green; so good so far.
  16. As well as dominating junior basketball and footy Murph was always the leading top few in cross country as a kid. He’s got some running power, but not sprinting - more like a Robert Harvey or Pendles type.

I was informed by my business partner (who lives in Geelong but follows Magpies) last Wednesday; via his good mate (who works for GFC) that we informed Clayton either day of or after the Brownlow that he should look for another club. He was surprised by this; and his manager started the ring around. Hadn’t said anything as was second hand; but it’s feeling more and more real by the hour.
  18. Exactly how he controlled games in U13; 14; 15; 16 for South Melbourne. Could play like a NFL quarterback, score when needed, cover back when needed, win contests. Excellent decision making since Auskick.
  19. Whisper at the G tonight he will coach West Coast

This puts us in the bottom 6 fixture group; coupled with pick 5 it gives us great scope to challenge again in 2025.
  21. He’s a fabulous kid; good leader; in the Robert Harvey mould at junior level - rarely tackled. He was a regular 30-35 touches and 2-3 goals a game at U16 SMJFL.
  22. So it should be; playing out in the media is killing us. Get it back in house.

What a disgrace Sydney are; time to sack Longmire!
  24. Reid and Retchsko at school together. Get em both. Patty has been a state 100m runner so brings good speed. Murph is elite time and space, aka Robert Harvey, rarely tackled in under age footy. Gun.
  25. I think thought was 12 was high for him. But he’s rising. Only meeting not done is Tigers and he’s a mad Tigers fan, but Yze watches every game of school footy as Noah in same team.
