as long as we use them both in the super draft next draft and not this draft then i will be happy

It's not all about the players. Look at Joel Selwood. Is he a good kick? No. Selwood would struggle kicking the ball out of our backline if he was playing for us. in fact he would struggle full stop if he was playing for us. But it's not Joel Selwood, its the entire makeup of the team. And handballing ur way from the backline to the forward line is a stupid game plan that was never going to work. And coming into the corridor so early from defence is just too risky. If i was coach, i would use the full width of the ground and not be hell bent on stupid risky kicks just for the sake of it.

Let's not jump the gun. I'm not sure why after a big loss this week people are angry and posting in haste on this board. What did people expect! We were playing a top 4-5 side at Melbourne's kiss of death stadium. Do people just forget about our recent smashings and think 'oh today is a new day, I think the dee's will somehow play elite football'? Why people are pointing out players and asking for their heads is beyond me. Our whole team is a joke at the moment. Morton and Bate will go but people have been complaining about them for many seasons even when we were playing some decent footy so that's fair. But Colin Sylvia? He is in a little bit of a form slump but is widely regarded as our most dangerous player. You don't just go trading these blokes around. It's not the players, its the game plan! Bartram missed some pathetic shots but at least he got the footy in his hands. Dunn is inconsistent but he at least gets angry and every team has got to have a ryan crowley type. He has also kicked some great long goals from outside 50m this year. He will definitely stay. Jones has been fantastic and his disposals are actually pretty good. It's not the players, we need structural change. And that is something a new coach should instil. We also need to develop a defensive mindset. Make these guys play basketball for a bit and play man-to-man defence. on a footy field you can get away with not marking your man that closely. In basketball, you will be made to look silly. Hawthorn have got some of their players playing basketball and i have been asking this for years. You call our players down-hill skiers but look at our supporters. We turn on our players when the team is playing terribly but when we do win the odd game, all is forgotten and forgiven for that 1 week

Morton was believed to be a great kick when we picked him up. many people still believe he is a great kick. I'm not one of those. People just don't like hearing the truth. We are arguably the worst team in the comp at the moment. And its the players, not the coach. We don't have the cattle.
-
i'm not saying that picking up Fev is the right thing but who are we to know what the right thing to do is. The M.f.c have appeared to fail with a classical rebuild. Many many botched early draft picks. Bate, Morton and Gysberts are all bad kicks. Bennell and Bail also. Strauss and Blease haven't really come on all that quickly. Tapscott and Trengove are the only real players that we will have in the long run. Scully off to gws of course. looking at hawthorn today they have hodge, mitchell, suckling, rioli, gibson and guerra. most of them are elite kicks but also have amazing hardness. For some reason we have too many players that have great kicks but don't attack the ball. Morton the prime example.
-
I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this yet but it was his left leg not his right which is a pretty big point to note. Strauss will come back. 1 year rehab, 1 year for confidence = 2 years. I hope the club does the right things and gives him another contract

'Besides Adrian Anderson cleared us'. I think that's exactly what Jeff Kennett was alluding to! lol
-
I am now going for Geelong It's better we lose by 150 than by 75 because we need heads to roll from this performance
-
naive. Just look at the Gary Ablett saga. He said the same thing as scully all year. Then we the season ended, 'sorry boys im off to the coast'
-
Lol, exactly agree. Sculyl averaged 21 touches in his first season and now has come back from injury yet still managing to find the ball. Did Judd cop the number 1 tag when he was at the eagles? No. Scully has several times this season. I believe Scully is a clearance machine, i also think he is quicker, skills are about the same, scully has great reflexes and will bulk up. he goes just as hard at the ball as judd. Scully has some serious courage.
-
That's fine to have your opinion but my opinion is that you have no idea about how to spot talent. Scully, in my opinion, will most likely be as good as Chris Judd if not better. For those that are saying that he isn't worth the money is a joke. Our club is crying out for a bonafide superstar and we have one and now aren't willing to pay him some extra money. Scully will be a 5-7 time all-australian. He has already shown he is a gun so there is no risk of him not being able to perform. His only risk is his knee.

I'm confused. Scully was tagged tonight but still did some amazing things. put his body on the line time and time again last night. And just because he didn't get much of the footy ( despite being blanketed by a seasoned tagger) people all of a sudden don't think he will be a star? Tom Scully will be a star and everything he does suggests that. There is a reason Scully will always get the number 1 tag before Trengove. Think about that. All of the opposition clubs think that too. And if we are going to point the finger and suggest that Watts is the one that is worth the 'Scully money' then i'm guessing you didn't watch last nights game. He was hopeless. Needed a bucket to pick up the ball and got faked out by several players. looked like Morton Take 2 out there.
-
This simply needs to be addressed. 'Thommo went back for family reasons'. That's almost exactly why people return to their home state, because it's their home and they're home sick! And 'strike a good deal in return'? You've got to be joking! Thompson was picked up at pick 16 and despite a few early injuries showed promise that he was to be a future star of the comp. After a few pre-seasons into this star we got like pick 14 or 16 for him. EXACTLY WHAT WE DRAFTED HIM AT! His departure has continued to hurt our club. Thompson is a star and was always going to be.

finished with 12 touches. 4 tackles. 1 goal 2 behinds. -
i dont think this is jumping the gun at all but when we get our compo picks (probably 2 first rounders) we will probably be using them both next season because this years draft is terrible compared to next seasons draft apparently.
-
rick olerenshaw has told me personally that Scully is going
-
this is so typical. Bulldogs lodge a complaint to the afl about gws breaching the player poaching regulations, Melbourne just roll over and do nothing about it. typical
-
Agreed. i said since day dot that he was never going to get big enough and i guess I'm right again
-
Why does Scully owe Melbourne anything. If the shoe was on the other foot and Scully wasn't a good player, Melbourne would delist him and never see him again. Players don't owe their clubs anything. When players aren't up to it Melbourne delist them, but if the players dont think the club is good for them and choose to move on then somehow its considered disloyal?
-
Matthew Bate and Dunn say hi. Both 192
-
I would just like to see melbourne show a few balls. Come and say 'we want the top 3 picks of the draft if we lose Scully'. I hate feeling like no-one at the club provides the fans with a voice.
-
There is no reason to suggest that Scully will not be better than Trengove. Scully's first 2 games have been great and Scully's last season was better than Trengove's . People are just talking out of disappointment. When we lose Scully, it will be equivalent of losing about 3 Scott Thompson's. And losing Scott Thompson still hurts us.
