  1. Generally speaking, waivers relating to injury aren't typically enforceable (acknowledging a voluntary assumption of risk, the nature of the activity, unforeseen circumstances and the standard of negligence). The AFL may have requested a waiver, but that wouldn't necessarily stop or prevent a claim for compensation being successful.
  2. Don't stress mate. Remember, Straight Set Simon and Pert have assured the footballing world that we have excellent culture.
  3. Careful, you don't want to make the fanboys cry.
  4. It's a fair summation, for sure. For mine the concern wasn't necessarily the fact we lost, but how we lost. Given most of the issues seen yesterday (i.e., the massive run on and unanswered goals) have been around for the past two seasons, I'm not sure it's as simple as saying we'll turn things around next week against Carlton.
  5. Melbourne defender staring at three months on sidelines, star Demons & Tigers to miss scratch match “Daniel Turner will miss 10-12 weeks with a stress fracture in his leg.”
  6. Just looking at that slide show is depressing. Truly, that side was one of the poorest squads ever assembled in the VFL/AFL.
  7. i’mmmmmmm sowwi. R u Okay? Hehehe
  8. The same response I received from other posters when I said another straight set exit beckoned for this side halfway through this year.
  9. Bizarre comment and highly ironic, but then again forums are always the best place to view the vagaries of human existence. Maybe learn to contextualise commentary before posting some inane and recalcitrant tripe. I never commented on Oliver, I spoke of the team. You quoted my words, so as I said, consider developing the ability to contextualise what they mean. But please, continue the brave straw man argument.
  10. I would be very surprised if we’re anywhere near the pointy end and expect us to potentially slide out of the 8. We’ve been exposed the last two seasons and nothing has ultimately changed over the past three draft/trade/FA periods (I’m not expecting Windsor and/or Tholstrup to take us to the promised land in their first season; this isn’t a comment on their long-term prospects). An ageing list, coupled with off-field immaturity and a soft-underbelly that’s been present since post 2021. What’s not to like?
  11. Mine was also as a six year old. Great memory of heading into the G with my Dad. Round 14, Sunday 7 July 1996 - MCG Melb 14.10 94 def Footscray 10.7 67

  13. 6. Windsor 11. Tholstrup. Personally, I would be very disappointed if we didn’t take Curtin, but I expect the two above will be who we go with. Edit: iPhone autocorrected ‘Windsor’ to ‘Wilson’.
  14. Mark Fine on the Final Siren; the halcyon days.
  15. I've listened to SEN pretty regularly since the early 2010s. I personally think that since the broadcast restructures started in 2017, before the formal refresh of 2018, they've gone downhill. The line-ups are very bland with minimal personalities. Plus, as has been mentioned, the adds are have been exponentially increased to the point of ad nauseum. It really makes it difficult to listen to. I'm not at all surprised the station is struggling; anecdotally speaking, so many friends who used to listen to the station have turned off in the last 5 years or so. I personally think the majority of hosts also struggle, for the most part, to meaningfully discuss any sport outside of the AFL, anyway.
  16. I don't know much about Windsor at all, but I'm increasingly becoming enamoured with us taking Curtin. He's a genuine tall at 197 (matching Petty's height IIRC) and looks to have good overhead marking prowess from the limited highlights that I've seen. He also seems to have a good attacking game and some nuance with the way he moves the ball. He could become a set-and-forget defender and May's likely replacement, which I think we need to start contingency planning for anyway. In saying that, I'm aware the majority of his highlights are against other teenaged bodies (with the exclusion of the All Stars game against the VFL Carlton side - though I'd say he held his own based on vision). I'd be open with who we use our second pick on, but I think Curtin would be a fantastic get and a nice target for us, presuming he's available.
  17. Incredibly generous r.e., Pickett.
  18. Listening to Rawlings on Trade Radio, it definitely sounds as though the Roos on cooling with regard to trading for Pick 1. We might see some further traction in this space.
  19. Melbourne would be backing themselves to finish higher next year and contending. Therefore you'd like to keep the draft pick tied to the Swans and trade ours (on the basis of expected ladder position).
