  1. will be talking to someone from the mfc on SEN after the match. Couldn't catch who, may have been Ryan someone? Hopefully someone can catch it as I'm at work and wont be able to hear it
  2. bloody fantastic! I just literally ran down the house waking everyone up to tell them....much to the delights of my parents lol. Maybe all those who bagged Jimmy and Co. can offer a bit of an apology?
  3. Can't wait for both the mcc/Mfc deal to be announced, and also for the major sponsor/s. Also have to agree Hamish could just well be the number one ticket holder.
  4. Though I have to admit I do agree with that, that's exactly the demographic and group Stynes and the current board are attempting to reach out to. Partially the reasoning behind Casey.
  5. Having been present at both Melbourne vs Hawthorn, and Cousins vs Collingwood, I believe that the question that needs to be asked is; Are we actually in a better position (football wise) than Richmond. Comparing our youth that is coming through in Blease, Bartram, Buckley, Martin, Bate, Jones, Wonna, Maric, and Watts; together with players such as PJ, Moloney, Sylvia (?), Chook, Miller, Bell (?), Garland, Warnock; and then the oldies and seasoned players such as Junior, Green, Bruce and Robbo, to that of Richmondfc is our flock actually in a better position for a tilt at the flag in the near future? Though both sides have only played one match each, this could be hard to tell and the topic is sure to draw a lot of criticism from many people on here, however I firmly believe that the intensity, fortitude and skill level displayed was substantially higher than what Richmond demonstrated during their match last night. The Tigers lacked intensity and made terrible skill errors. Though it's easily arguable that by losing when being up by 33 points, we too showed exactly the same attributes as the tigers, I really believe we showed a lot more than what Richmond did last night. Personally while our club may have off field issues that really do need resolving, our Football department is certainly not in the worst position of all AFL clubs. Throw in players such as Valenti and Spencer, and I think that our side really is starting to take the shape of a side that could become something special, and something that other clubs will fear in the (hopefully) near future.
  6. Sorry but Paul Johnson is not a foward. He never was and never shall be, even back when playing for Vic Metro U/16's he wasn't. Not bagging the big fella at all, just merely saying that he'll never truely be one, and would be wasted down foward.
  7. Hounestly there is a lot to gain out of this years NAB cup then many on here believe. The Melbournefc could not only benefit from the exposure, but the team itself could take a lot out of this weeks match. A win would not only assist in raising belief and moral around the club, but would also be greatly beneficial to the development of the side. This weeks match could almost be seen as a barometer for the coming Premiership season. No I'm not saying that by winning this week we shall win the Preimership, but a lot rides on this match, and a lot more than what some posters are suggesting.
  8. Being only a week away, does anyone believe we have an actual chance? Personally, I do believe we are a chance, and partially due to the Hawkas injury problems, I believe we could be up for a possible win. Or at least an entertaining hit out.
  9. Maybe not in the best 22 at the moment, but bloody close to it! His endevour and determination is second to none, and I love his grunt and ability to stand up in a tackle. This has been sorely missed at the MFC in recent times. It's a joke that some say having him on our list is a joke. I was VERY suprised he was not promoted. It's even funnier to think that some of the people paying out on Valenti would rather Juice played ahead of him. I know who'd I'd rather have!
  10. Great report mate! Looking forward to our NAB cup match and seeing how we play as a side. Just curious, did Sylvia play as a midfielder or foward?
  11. On what grounds do you base this on? Hope you're right mate, but I'm getting very anxious!
  12. I have to admit that this scenario is causing me to become slighlty concerned about the future of our beloved club. However in saying that I have every faith in Stynes and his associates that something can be done to rectify this situation, and they are undoubtably working hard to ensure that a deal comes this way. Though at this point in time I would happily take any sponsorship that was offered to us:)
  13. Nah mate, don't think that at all. I just assumed he was from Xavier from a previours comment he made
  14. No, no jealousy seeing I was accepted into x. Seeing there are only two in the APS it shouldn't be that hard should it genius? Alsoran? An APS school? Lmfao
  15. The only decent catholic school in the APS that doesn't accept people on the basis of who their father is. Funny that even Luke Ball said that his own school had major problems...
  16. Clearly you've never seen the vast majority of xavier college first xviii play then..
  17. This certainly does seem a more attractive option then holding family days and the like at the old Juntion Oval. The venue itself should aid in attracting not only members but also young familys to come out and show some support for our boys. As has been said before, this could possibley assist in Melbournefc generating a better image in our community, and help to generate some sponsorship/marketing oppertunities in the future.
  18. This would have to be the worst tune I've ever heard. Lines such as "Sons of the Sand" or something along those lines are absolutley pathetic and just laughable. I've heard U10s teams with better songs than this. If GC17 picked this I would say they have some serious identity issues.
  19. While I can see people saying the Kangaroos will struggle most, I have to say that Sydney will struggle most....IF given no support by the AFL. They have an ageing list, with no real young stand outs apart from Veszpremi. Though they do have some 'ageing' older workhorses such as Hall, Kirk, Bolton and O'Keefe and Goodes, these players are unlikely to be around when the Swans are able to next challenge for a flag. Though many may argue the swans are a dangerous team, I believe that they are in a similar situaion to us in 2006 and 2007, and that this season we may see the swans in a similar situation to what happened to us in 2007.
  20. Don't underestimate the power of an APS school mate
  21. mate your getting a little worked up
  22. Mate it's PJ....Jamar doesn't wear a glove, and never plays with his shoulder strapped. PJ did that shoulder playing against Syd round 4 2006...played with it strapped ever since!
  23. looking foward to this game for sure...can play anywhere, this and last year played in the midfield (centre), but up until then used to play off half-back and half-foward flank. So can line up anywhere haha. Only small fella though, 174cms
