Agree. Also recall that we were making up the numbers in the finals in 2018 and still managed to remove 2 other teams who were not thought to be just making up the numbers. Not that I have any confidence of that happening again.

I can't see that 'we should win with ease' when our opponents were compettive against Richmond. It's almost as if people want to magnify the significance of losing tonight as much as possible so as to be as miserable as possible when we lose. I'd have thought we endure enough misery without boosting it.

Sorry, while I think that Gil theory is rubbish, it doesn't hold a candle to a lot of the nonsense that floats around on Facebook. And is a lot less dangerous.

Re 'that' goal, this from the Fox afl site: This is where the system is limited; from one angle, the ball was just past the goalpost. From the other side, it was not. The nature of the cameras in this situation, and the way lenses can warp the position of the ball, mean it’s impossible to tell which angle was right. If that is the case, they should junk the system until they get it right. As I've argued elsewhere, leave it to the umpire. Umps make mistakes all the time which affect the result of a close game, why are goal umpires' decisions treated differently? And as we know all too well, the delay of a decision on a mark on the line vs a point can rob a team of it's momentum to get the ball to the scoring end and win a close match.

Damn. For a while they were on track to win by almost a 186 equivalent

A bit circular - why would a good club need to make excuses or even look for reasons for being poor? I think the bolded comment is far more the reason for our erratic performance than 'a poor culture going back 50 years'. I doubt if culture in footy teams could transmit unchanged down so many generations of players and admins anyway.

The trouble is the kitchen is destroying resonable discourse and encouraging lunatic theories and non-facts. I stay out of it (other than here) and heartily wish it would burn down.

Swans in Cairns for 2 days vs Demons less than 5 hours - why?
sue replied to Hogan2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd rather be looking for reasons why 22 blokes turned up half asleep rather than just saying 'excuses, excuses' and putting the boot in. But by way of excuses (or reasons why) perhaps leaving by bus and plane (and I assume another bus) by 7am to play at 4:40pm was worse than the travel done by Port. And then Port are a far better side, so more likely to win regardless of travel factors, whereas in our case it could be the straw that broke the camel's back). -
It would be ironic if Richmond are deprived of a 2020 flag because the GF is cancelled due to a 'hot-spot' developing at their camp.
-
I used to do that, but they found a way of preventing you doing it.

AFL LIve? A 7 inch screen is my idea of torture. I get enough of that watching us play.
-
Well for those of us in NSW and ACT it is a small compensation for getting the free to air slots filled with Sydney & GWS games all the season, leaving few slots for other games, thus reducing the chances of a MFC match to almost 0. I just wish the AFL would produce an AFL-only service. I'm only interested in AFL not 500 other sports. I don't want to spend a lot on Fox or Kayo for stuff I have no interest in.
-
When & where do you renew it D_J? After it expires? (I assume you mean renewing the 3 months on the Kayo account, not somehow renewing through beteasy?
-
Sorry to repeat. Is there such an option? If so, where do you select it?
-
Not only unaware of this option, but can't see where you select it. Advice please Binman.

I’m amused that all the media fuss acts like we were behind before that goal was kicked. Even if it was a point the odds would have been with us to win.
-
It would help if the commentators didn't turn dwn the umpires' volume so they could make their asinine name dropping etc.
-
Either that or he is so incompetent that he shouldn’t be in an AFL team. If you knocked someone over that late there’d be a 50m penalty but a whack in the eye is ok it seems.
-
Has the AFL actually said clubs get to choose where they will play a 'home' final? Seems unlikely to me given all the other constraints.
-
2 wins against C’wood makes a great year. But we shouldn’t have let them get so close the second time.
-
The enforcement of the protected zone is a farce. In every game I’ve watched there are several infringements ignored. The rule needs a major rethink. Very often the offending player poses no threat to the player with the ball. But the penalty is enormous.
-
But then there would be less opportunity for controversey which Fox loves.
-
Easy to change that rule since there is no situation where that would happen

Always grateful for an opportunity for mounting my hobby horse: Something that would lessen ugly packs forming is paying a free against a player who just jumps of 2 or more players on the ground and either: tackles one of the tacklers - clearly a free against for tackling a player without the ball OR attempts to pull the ball of his teammate - not a legal disposal if he suceeds, so if he does suceed, free for ilegal disposal
