I don't know how good a photographer he is, but they are generally a dime a dozen. If he wants money, footy is a surer bet for him.

I've bought a weekly pass and will be trying it tonight. Will let you know how I find it. But getting it to work has been a struggle. After I bought the pass, it still demanded a username and password with no hint of where that would come from. They told me (after the usual struggle with their helpdesk(s)/chats that I should use my telstra username. Funnily enough I don't have one and noone in Telstra could tell me how to register a new one. If you run it on an iphone it does have a register option. But when you hit it it says 'coming soon'. Nowhere in the doco does it say you must have a telstra username to use the app. If I go on-line to the telstra website it has a rego option but when I try that it says look on your bill to check you are entering the correct info since what you entered didn't match their database. Not surprising since I am not in their data base and don't have any bill. Fortunately my other half has an old telstra username for a defunct account and that worked. But the app still wouldn't play premium video until I hit the restore in-app purchases button. Whoopee. All blindingly obvious really. So iPad now fine. I can't get it to work on my iphone. It accepts the username/password but then acts as if I don't have a pass. The doco says the pass will work on all your devices. I now suspect that the what is needed for that is the 'coming soon' afl username not the Telstra one. Anyone know? I see that the afl username rego page says that there will be a free trial pass. Perhaps good if you want to wait till the afl username rego option has 'come'.

I disagree stm & DrG. While I think this is a good thread because it may say something about our club, I see nothing wrong with someone saying the thread is a waste of time etc. It is an opinion, just happens to be wrong in my view. As long as the author doesn't bang on about it repeatedly. Then it is fair to ask why he is bothering to read and post in it and tell him to go elsewhere. It is interesting to read the opinions on how much it shows what was wrong with the club compared with what's wrong with Col.

I'd put more faith in Whirlpool posters than BF. But I wonder how up to date some of that is. I had no problem last year displaying on my TV using airplay. I can't test it now because they have taken all the old videos off. So its $5.50 this week to find out. Beware AdC - last year the replays were great but the live stuff ranged from OK for some people to terrible for many (and assuming you were prepared to put up with 4:3)

I don't think that is fair. I said 'act like'. That is not the same as saying they want it to happen. Knowing that slight subtlety might be missed, I added what you saw as a 'greatest respect' type line which I agree is often a preamble to an insult. However I didn't say that. I straight out said I was certainly not accusing anyone of actually wanting it.
-
Agree. There are some who almost act like they would prefer to see him thrown in and break down completely so that they could then tell us how right they were to say what a waste of money he was. (Note I said 'almost act' - I don't suggest any of us would actually want that. Just reacting to the continual negativity of some.)

Sadly in time it may be so to the players. -
Not if the bandwidth/caching problems I had last year continue. I'm going to buy a week for $5.50 and see how it goes. I see that Fox does all but 9 or our matches and I guess some of the others will be free to air depending where you live, so if it works I'll probably sign up and watch the Fox ones in the app. Compared to signing up for Foxtel which is more expensive (and comes with crud I don't want) it looks good if it works. I'm not interested in all the other bits of the app, just the live play, so I have no idea if they are worth having. I suspect they just reproduce stuff available elsewhere.

I have an email today from Telstra which states: The vision supplied by Fox Footy is in 16:9, but the Channel 7 vision is in 4:3. This is due to agreements between the AFL and Channel 7, which we can’t control.

I have an ipad and an appletv and use airplay. Resolution is fine. I don't know how to do it without an appletv.

I think there was an existing thread on this but I couldn't find it - mods please merge if possible: Last year I gave up on the AFL Live app, even though I was able to display it on my TV, because the video was 4:3 cutting off too much of the live picture (replays were fine). They said this was due to the broadcasters, not them. (Also sometimes the caching/bandwidth was a disaster even though my broadband was more than adequate.) I asked them if this was changed this year and the reply was Fox will be 16:9, Seven 4:3. So I might give them another go and pray the bandwidth/caching is better.

That's a very good point. Almost smacks of scientific method to change one variable (the midfield) and see what happens compared to the past. I doubt if that is a deliberate plan of course, but it will be interesting to see.

Crikey, there are lot of things there that 'people like me' believe or are concerned with which I hadn't realised I believed or was concerned about. I haven't expressed a view on most of the things you list. Don't even recall saying that Debt Demolition was a good thing - though I'll say it now. Better than being bankrupt and crappy on the field simultaneously. To get back to injured players: as Redleg says, we all (including you?) were happy with the Mitch deal until he unexpectedly did his foot. Did anyone predict he'd have that sort of injury? Was Dawes constantly injury prone at C'wood? I don't recall that he was (bar his thumb problem which does not seem to be his problem at the MFC). There is such a thing as bad luck as well as incompetence.

So very predictable.

You can hardly expect Roos to say that we just need a bit of tinkering and we'll win the flag so what I do doesn't matter much, anyone could do it.. He has to be, and has been, realistic. To then criticise him for having a 'saviour' complex is absurd. Would we want someone to take the job who didn't think he could improve things? It's not as if he has said 'MFC is a disaster but I'll win the flag for them before I go'.

I know it is not good for the soul to enjoy the discomfiture of Essendon, but fortunately I don't have one. -

Amusing, but what is really scary is the photo of the team with hands on hearts. I just hope it is a photoshop fiddle, but I fear not. I reckon if Yanks stood on their heads, we'd be doing it pretty soon after. -

We may be paddling around in circles, but Robbo is diving to the bottom. -
The latter is likely to be true. The possibility that the internal message is somewhat different than the media one doesn't seem to cross the mind of those who over-react to what is put out in the media. While you could argue that such 'hypocrisy' will badly effect the players, it is also possible that the players are intelligent enough to understand the need for a different angle on things internally vs externally.

Ease up - he clearly did not say 'nothing was wrong at all'. Unless you think the word 'mistake' in his phrase "the only mistake was picking the wrong coach" has a different meaning than that found in the dictionary. He might be over-optimistic a lot of the time, but no need to exaggerate. Personally I prefer to read posts which have at least some degree of optimism in them rather than some of the negative reaction that some posters make instantaneously to almost any event. And no, I don't think they are justified to be like that simply on the basis of how cr*p we have been.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Before getting too concerned, the first question to ask is did ASADA request him or was it imposed on them. I got the impression it was the former but not sure why I have that impression. Anyone sure either way? -

Was there any evidence that he actually got the cream let alone used it? I can't recall the text message quoted, but wasn't it more along the lines of 'go and get some'? -
We don't have to get worse to risk his reputation. We just have to not improve much. What else is he going to say? It's only diehard Demonland types that dwell on every word he says, so there is no harm in a bit of repetition in a broader audience. If you want us to have a media presence for all sorts of membership/sponsorship reasons then I reckon he's doing it pretty well.

I assume this is a poor attempt at comedy. Otherwise I suppose you'd be happy to risk your reputation on a 'basket case' just for a few more dollars than you'd be getting doing something else safer.
