  1. If you can install a geolocation add-on to your browser and manually set it to say you are in Vic then you should be OK.
  2. Sure, unusual venue so not surprising that can't justify installing enough cameras. But at normal grounds the frustrating thing to me is the choice of shot, not lack of cameras.
  3. Don't need more cameras, just a director who doesn't think the following are good ideas: close-ups of a player running with the ball with no idea of what's around or ahead of him. lingering shots of the player who just missed a goal rather than showing how the teams are setting up for the kick in the ball going in and out of the field of view because they have zoomed in far too far so that the viewer has no idea what's happening. But by jingo, it is exciting that way as it is so unpredictable. (not)

When you have god on your side, it is natural to assume that an umpire who awards a free against you is a pawn of Satan. As for his dive last night, I think it was there, just not as blatant as last week. Though why dives are considered fine-worthy but head ducking (which is dangerous) is not, is beyond my comprehension.
  5. I guess you can have more disposals than possessions if you kick it off the ground and a kick however got is counted as a disposal.
  6. The bolded bit is important. As PJ is stating there are plenty of other considerations that go into the draw and so taking the obvious option of alternate turns may be too simplistic. If we move to alternate turns hopefully the Club will benefit elsewhere (and C'Wood suffer elsewhere).
  7. Not quite off topic: Living interstate Etihad is not an option, so don't have to feel guilty about watching on TV: In the Fox broadcast of our match the close ups which focussed on the player with the ball were extremely annoying - balls flying out of shot, no idea who was nearby. At times I could only guess that the ball was going to one of our players by looking at how the other players in shot reacted. Whereas watching the MCG match it was not that bad. Is the difference the two broadcast camera/director teams (are there 2?) or the camera set-up at the 2 venues?
  8. A collective noun for a group of GWS supporters? You must be kidding, there is only one.
  9. I doubt any of us are. But even so, it's a lot better than only looking forward to the match to see if our latest messiah turns in a good game.
  10. Meanwhile over on the Doggies board... Let's hope the Demon players are as overconfident as many of their supporters.....
  11. Definition of a team not going well: Beaten by Demons.
  12. If we keep the last few weeks up, it will be time to change the thread title and remove the word 'embarrassing'.
  13. Too true. A poll on at what point in the game did you stop being anxious would be interesting. In my case a few minutes into Q3 (which is a record since the 1960's).
  14. Channel 7 up here ran out of ads to show here because we kicked so many goals.

Does Goddard get rubbed out for deliberately shoving a GWS player into the umpire? Indirect contact?

Pisses me off how the commentators including our hero seem to be making excuses for him and the whole team for that matter .
  17. Surely other teams which gets stuck with the Darwin game want a following bye too and would support us in this? Or are we now such a threat that they'd be overruled by other clubs. (if only)

Will be offered 1 week, the arrogant sods will appeal and he'll get a second week. (Though more likely will be let off on the grounds he's just a friendly clumsy giant, a bleached Shrek).
  19. I agree that us supporters know less than the FD (surely not!) but just because a young player is playing well and hasn't looked exhausted yet doesn't mean it might be wise to rest him before he runs out of steam.
  20. NtG does say "Update", so of course it won't be in that link. The question is, what is his source for the update.
  21. I don't care what the jerks in the media say . If we win we are 4 points closer to being in the finals. If we lose we are 4 points further away.
  22. Docklands becomes (Donald) Ducklands
  23. All it has is the time it is at spot A, the time it is at B and the distance between them. I doubt if GPS positioning (non military) is accurate enough to know where someone is at every instant if they are running in a zig zag, though it will give a reasonably good number if they run for long enough in a straight line. It will underestimate the distance travelled most likely when zig zagging. My GPS location it is currently at least 5 metres from where I really am - where is the sub-metre accuracy Deeznuts mentioned? Is Deeznuts saying the GPS on a players back is more accurate than my phone perhaps? I agree with his remarks about averages, but there is no point in higher sampling rates if the position is not known extremely accurately at every time.
  24. I can see how GPS could give a reasonable total distance covered, but I can't see how it can give a reliable figure for speed which I assume requires running in a straight line to be accurate. Players don't run in a straight line for long and often enough I would have thought.

I'd be more supportive of that view if they therefore moved some Geelong home games to the MCG. Either that or widen the Geelong ground to resemble the width of all other AFL grounds. Ridiculous advantage to them as it is.
