Enjoyed thoroughly Clyde

I posted this elsewhere Jaded. And knowing melbourne if he kicks 10 they'll probably give him the 3 yr deal only to regret is in 12 months time. Having said that wouldn't it be impossible for negotiate new playing contracts until the coach comes on board. No one knows what his plans are. Someone like Sheedy might have a done deal for some one at Essendon for Robbo already.
-
Robbo will play, kick 10, get signed to a 3 year deal and do his knee in round 4 next year. Of course I hope that doesn't happen but it probably sounds just like an MFC script.
-
Didn't Greg Williams win a NSM in 95 for kicking 6 from a forward pocket?
-
I am completely amazed you would pass judgment on a fellow poster based on what they percieve to be an asset of value in a player. Once again I think we'll agree to disagree. BTW, that first line was meant to come across as sarcasm

Sign Sheedy, members re-sign, problem solved...Sort of, well short term banadaged at least

Fitness can be regained, should he choose. Passion however, once lost is gone forever. If the passion remains, and based on his efforts recently i think it does he can be a valuable contributor next year. Hard tackling and intimidation should not be underestimated particularly when he surrounded by fluff balls

yeah Richmond would be wrapt in that

Despite a 10 goal loss I still enjoyed a few things about Saturdays game. Newton lifting in the second half and getting on his bike to win some possies up the ground after being starved of oppurtunities up forward. Travis Johnstone displaying the poise of old, keeping his composure and taking the game on in tight situations But most of all Byron Picketts tackling display. He laid 10 of the strongest, most violent tackles you will ever see in 1 match and with Davey being out it was just what was needed. Is 95% towards earning 1 more year IMO. A solid hard working game against the Blues this week would make it very hard for the new coach not to sign him for 1 more. Personally i think he is worth keeping for 1 more year for that hard edge
-
Not that Tarrant did anything worth mentioning. Bruce gave us more than Tarrant gave them IMO

If I were a bookmaker I think I would set the odds pretty even Sheedy $1.35 Hardwick $1.60 Connolly $1.25 Riley $2.20 Bailey $1.85 As the odds suggest I have this sinking feeling in my gut that Chris Connolly is going to get the job. [censored] Human!

Of those 10 clangers I think at least 4 of them were holding the ball. That seems to be his biggest weakness at the moment. He gets caught with the ball far too often and isn't able to get his arms free for an effective handball. If he can develop this side of his game it will result in a marked improvement. Brocky could use some of that as well. If you watch Sydney and WCE midfielders you will notice that even when tackled they are often able to make an effective disposal without getting called for a free kick or turning it over, I think Daniel Kerr is the best exponent of this in the entire league. Unbelivably tough to retard completely in a tackle. Very strong through the trunk.

Neitz or Green. Personally I think a new coach would be better off going with the tried and true and laying the challenge to the leadership group to force the coach's hand in appointing a new captain.
-
We love you Neita! We need all the players and the supporters to 'LIFT' for the big felle and help him lead us to a victory over the filth on our night of nights. LIFT!
-
Don't be surprised if our midfield improves next year and Yze plays forward. If that happens and he kicks 40 goals plus he would be a massive chance for another 1 year extension. I agree the most likely scenario is he will finish up next year but it will be awfully hard to push a guy who has kicked 40 odd from a pocket into retirement.

Jonesy's stats look good but based on that I think Pendles is the pick of the bunch (14 goals is teriffic), we'll see how the LTI affects his chances at the end of the year. On Pendlebury don't make the mistake of underestimating his effort in a team, that while placed well on the ladder has probably out-performed their expectations by a fair way thus far. Last saturday night excluded. Looks to be a great long term prospect for the filth

Only better!!! B)

Actual body weight is irrelevant. Muscular, definition and strength is whats important and I agree that our players look like children compared to some of the other teams. The bicep/tricep shoulder definition and strength of guys like Cousins Kerr etc is what allows them to break tackles and effect accurate disposal despite pressure. A majority of our guys get squashed in tackles and get brushed off far too easily. Say what you want about physical appearance and size but if you think they likes of Nathan Jones and Lynden Dunn etc aren't intimidated and feel inferior when they look at the builds of some of their opponents you are kidding yourselves. Remember the mental side of the game is mazzive and often underestimated. Same goes for our KPPs they look pathetic next to the real power men of the game. Even Neitz and Miller look physically too big powerful guys like J Brown and Hall. And that should not be the case.

STAKER WINS MARK OF THE WEEK OVER NEWTON
Dee*ceiving replied to BrownlowBruce's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought the same. it would have been ridiculous for them to be talking up the top half dozen marks of the year on GF day and for Newtons not to be included -
Seeya Kouts, great career mate. You were admired by not only those that follow the Blues. Top dozen or so players of this generation.
-
I haven't noticed that, but its a pretty good observation
-
I'll vote for Sheeds but I like the sound of Bluey McKenna.

New angle of 'that mark' by Juice Newton
Dee*ceiving replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
I remember saying that about 1 Darren Cuthbertson about 15 years ago.Hopefully Juice has a tad more logevity in him
