This decision baffles me... I think DB dropped the ball on this one.
-
Brock for sure... the only question is over his body being right. Miller is a good one though, i'd pay that.

we have been better from the start of the year... which isn't really all that difficult i suppose

Aussie is one of our most important players

Dissapointing that Maric couldn't fill this role while Wonna was gone. I think he has the talent as seen with his few touches, but he doesn't demand the ball as much as Wonna does, maybe it was just positioning in the forward line, something he will learn. -
He'll be a cult hero in a few years. Maybe not with the talent of some of the best forwards and Ruckmen around, but it is hard to dislike the big guy. Incidently I saw him at Safeway a few weeks ago and didn't think he looked all that tall. Maybe because he hunches a bit.

In all honesty I would probably follow a merged team. But not with the smae passion, and I would fight tooth and nail not too. Even if it meant the combined team was bigger than Collingwood or West Coast (which it wouldn't) I would find it hard to take joy in a win. There is something to be said for following the underdogs, just makes those victories all the more sweet. And a Premiership, well that would be something.

http://www.theage.com.au/sport/ Video up the top right on this page. These guys got it right. I like Boomer, he played well. But this video and his comments after the game makes him seem a little weak of character.

I took a lot of positives out of this game, we fielded again a very inexperienced team and we learnt a little bit more about our young list. Despite there being almost nothing to play for they played a good defensive game (after the first quarter). Throw Rivers/Petterd in for Bell. Drop Newton for Watts. And I think we would have been a couple of goals closer to them at least.

I think a scarf that shows how many games you have attended would be a great idea. At the start of each year (upon renewal of your membership) you get a scarf that tells you how many games you attended last year and a grand total for yourself. I'm sure there is some way of getting these records from the gate ticketing system. I would be quite happy to pay extra every year to show off how many games I attend, and i would be extra keen to keep my numbers ticking over. (not that i need any motivation to turn up.) It's not without it's problems like how to measure away games???? but not insurmountable. And now's the time as well.... Jimmy is about to roll out his plan to save Melbourne. So game 1 (on the count) can be next year

He sounds like a bit of a character. Until I heard this interview I just figured he'd be a bit of a private school boy bore (Judd). But he sounds confident and has an edge of arrogance about him. Which may not be a desirable trait to draft but it's these types that get into the papers and really put the club into the media. Franchise player maybe? I'm excited, so excited.

I also know a few WC supporters who buy Freo memberships because it is the only way they can get access to the derbys, they said it is quite common over there.

I'd trade him for Vincent Jackson (san diego chargers).

VIC Metro vs WA on Fox Sports - Wednesday July 9th
JACKATTACK replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just got back from the game: Of the three names that are going to go 1,2,3 (watts, rich ,nicnat), I have made the following conclsions: Rich: was the only one playiig AFL level football. Ball magnet and when he gets the ball is garuanteed to get it to a player. Did go quiet during the third but still a very impressive player. Best Kick on the ground. Natanui: I was on him months ago but I don't think he is a top 2 pick (from this gme anyway), He is professional, fast, can jump. But in this game alone McKernan was the better player. Can't kick either. I was most impressed by how much ground he covers,he was everwhere all the time. Watts: Still has a lot to learn about the game, looked completely lost at times when he didn't have the ball. BUT when he has the ball he looks like trav (all the time in the world) he is quick on the lead (Buddy) and takes a great pack mark (Riewoldt) and uses his body with great effectiveness (brown). I did however detect a hint of an unproffessional in him (richo). So for me: 1: Watts The upside here is what excites me the most, he has all the attributes that are most difficult to teach he's stil pretty skinny and there are some basic things he could learnn about the game that would make him twice the player. 2: Rich For safe bet, the best player on the ground was Rich and he will play 200+ games for sure, and they'll be good ones. 3: Naitanui will still be a good player but he is behind Rich and Watts for mine. I was also very impressed with McKernan, Jetta (lightning), tom lynch (though I hear he's a [censored]) and Tyrone Vickarey (fingerscrossed he slips to 17) I know it's only one game but that's how I saw it. Tough pick between the top three I would still be very excited about any of the three. -
Agreed, however if I were to go back a further 2 years it would paint a different story: Hawthorn had 5 nods between 2002 and 2003. Geelong also had 3 or 4 in that time. So coming into the last 2 years both Hawthorn and Geelong were near the top of my ladder, I chose not to include 02-03 in the ladder because that would have knocked us off top spot, and no-one here wants to see that happen.
-
I quickly added up all of the clubs Rising stor nomination since 2004: Melbourne 11 (included in there is Moloney who got the nod while playing for geelong) Brisbane 10 West Coast 9 Collingwood 8 Port Adelaide 8 Richmond 8 Carlton 7 Geelong 6 Hawthorn 6 Western Bulldogs 6 Essendon 5 North Melbourne 4 Fremantle 3 Sydney 2 Adelaide 2 StKilda 1 Now this either means that we have an exciting future ahead OR the rising star nomination means didley. Either way you would rather have more of them than less and we're on the top of the ladder!!!

Bachar Houli (Essendon), Josh Hill (Western Bulldogs), Rhys Palmer (Fremantle), Kieren Jack (Sydney), Ben McKinley (West Coast), Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn), Austin Wonaeamirri (Melbourne), Kurt Tippett (Adelaide), Garrick Ibbotson (Fremantle), Nathan Brown (Collingwood), Matthew Kreuzer (Carlton), Trent Cotchin (Richmond), Jarryd Morton (Hawthorn), Colin Garland (Melbourne) Freo, Melbourne and Hawks now have 2 Hopefully Morton can step up in the next few weeks, who else qualifies/has the talent to get a nod?

From the very little I have seen (bigpond highlights) Watts has it slightly ahead of Rich. My synopsis: Naitanui: Freakish jump and run, but doesn't look 100% at home on the footy field, and it is this factor that is probably the hardest to teach. Rich: Ferocious attack, there is a tackle he lays in the highlights (bigpond, apologies to those who can't get on to it) that is something to behold. Watts: Smart, fast and strong overhead. It is difficult to get a really good idea from 1 minute of highlights, but he just looks like a forward that can make a goal from nothing. I think he represents the least risk, and by virtue of the position he can play the greatest upside. Exciting times.
-
I guess he is at the 'Big end of town' so he may hold some value. Then again I find him hard to take seriously when he follows Bernie Ecclestein around like a lap dog, and don't get me started on his hair!
-
Very impressive videos from both Watts and Rich... Rich is ferocious

David neitz, I am assuming we can pick the age of the clone.

I'm leaving work early to go see the game at the dome. I believe all 3 prospects are playing in the one game at the Dome on Wednesday 9th July, at 3:30. Is that right?

Ease up now Jumbo, I don't mean to be personally attacking you, something you seem quite comfortable doing to me. All I have done is kept record of those who have in one way or another attempted to validate the rumour at least in some part to be something resembling the truth, and I do so with tongue in cheek. I actually love these kinds of rumours like this gem you have supplied, it allows me to drift into a fantasy world where Judd, Kerr and J Brown play for us, where we have all the supporters and money we could ever ask for, where essendon plays their home games in Canberra to cover their losses.... I guess I just thought there needed to be some accountability for rumours such as these, hence the list. One that I will bump in a few months time (if I remember) or when the $20mil cheque clears (though I am sure you'll beat me to it). Which makes me think... If you were confident in the rumour's authenticity you would be quite content to see this list being made, but seeing as you've gone and got all defensive about it I guess it means you know that it is a load of B/S. Ahh well, nice to dream anyway.

I think we have a new addittion to the "I know somebody, who's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former room-mate knows someone high up at the club" group. High Tower True believer Jumbo returns Nudge Addam magic Colossoss 2000
