Poor guy, he must be terrified.
-
Lots of players returning over the next few weeks.
-
Even with Chip in I would have Warnock on Roughy and Martin on Buddy. Chip playing the loose man, dropping back and runnning out. Rioli will be a real problem, I would probably start with Bennell and try Whelan on him while Bennell is resting. Another player worth stopping is Bateman, Bartram is the obvious choice, he must be stopped.
-
The point is not how long can he play for, it is more that he has had his chance to develop into an experienced, full bodied player and he hasn't been performing. Bartram and Dunn are still developing in that sense.
-
In my mind you have it exactly the wrong way around.
-
Bell 13/04/85, 24 Dunn 14/05/87, 22 Bartram 16/02/88, 21 For this reason, but not just this reason I have Bartram and Dunn well ahead of Bell.

Just a phone call away from scandal...
JACKATTACK replied to #MYHEARTBEATSTRUE's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't know exactly what was said regarding the issue but I would have thought that as a club and a code, we should always be looking at the way in which we treat Women. I doubt there is a football club in Australia that hasn't considered a review of it's treatment of the fairer sex. The media is on hyper allert these days, we should always be looking to be making an affort in this regard. -
Disposal efficiency - the most useless stat in footy
JACKATTACK replied to Freak's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would like to see stats shown a bit more like NFL, I know we already have distance gained but I would like to see stats represented differently for different player types. I know this is difficult because a player's position on the ground is not fixed, but would still be interesting and would make comparing similar types of players across teams a bit easier. I would also like to see more stats regarding direct oponents (if there are any), again almost impossible becasue of zoning but I would like to see how many marks have been taken on our respective oponents and how many were converted and so on. -
If this is the only reson you are not going then I would say you are teetering dangerously close to the "fairweather supporter" line. I'm not happy about it either but i will find a better way of making my feelings known, or at least I will give it some thought.

Disposal efficiency - the most useless stat in footy
JACKATTACK replied to Freak's topic in Melbourne Demons
Disposal efficiency like any stat has it's faults but it is not useless. Used in the correct way in support of a a point you are making it is a powerful representation of a facet of a player's game. Stef Martin is a perfect example of this, I cited in another thread that his disposal efficiency was quite high, but at no point did I suggest that because of it he was a good kick. The interesting thing about Stef is that he is someone who knows his limits. His disposal doesn't look pretty and can often seemingly put a player under pressure but I am always surprised that the ball somehow seems to get free if he was involved despite the possession being contested (from memory his contested posession count is actually quite high). So in the case of Stef Martin; the story here is that he defends well and has a cool head under pressure, supported by the stats of a high ratio of contested possessions and effective movement of the ball. Exactly what you want in a tall defender. -
There are going to be some really [censored] off supporters when all the deals are done. Prepare yourselves for 1: Losing a player we desperately don't want to lose & 2: Getting less than we want for them. I did read somewhere that players were going to be grouped into categories, something like: First half of the first round Second half of the first round Second round.... and so on. Absolute minimum for Cale would be that first category, and we'd still be stiffed.

Of critical importance, despite his lack of ability. We will be a much better team with him in it.
-
Knowing it is in our best interest to lose games this year I think he has done exactly what I would expect of a good coach with an eye on the long term. That is develop a young list from the backline. If we have to lose games then lose them from the forward line.
-
Which is great if we do end up with 1 & 2 and these 2 are still 1 &2 (or 2 & 1), in terms of progression against the other clubs we are best served by a situation where there is a massive drop off to pick 3.
-
If this move shocks etihad into action on the stadium deals then great, so long as we don't lose money I don't really mind.
-
Why is that interesting?
-
I wouldn't say he didn't get cheap kicks because he does get cheap ones. But the dfference today was that he actually used them and attacked the game. A good step in the right direciton for him.
-
I still think he meant it.
-
I like it, and don't see a problem with it being gimmick. If we sold more jumpers because of it, great!

My faith in humankind is failing.

Jones & morton are well down that list, I'm not saying the stats are 100% but when you consider that most of them are under pressure it is pretty impressive that he rarely stuffs it up. You could argue that he doesn't break he lines and isn't very damaging with his disposal, it was just something I have noticed over the last few games, he somehow gets the ball to advantage despite having an awkward kicking action. He now just needs to be confident enough to attack the game himself and he will become a seriously good player.
-
I was checking stats to see if he had any hitouts, which he didn't but I was surprised to find the following stats on Stef: 2nd Contested Marks 3rd 1%ers 3rd in Percentage of Possessions that are contested 2nd in disposal efficiency 6th goal assists
-
Stef, he can do anything.
-
Is spencer injured also? If all this is true and Jamar doesn't return soon who will ruck for us?
-
I think the Hawks game could be winnable (ish). I know they're getting some players back and gaining momentum but I just think we match up against them alright. that said we'd be much better off with Garland back, is he back by then? EDIT: No
