  1. This is the reality of being a Melbourne die hard. Credit card, prepare yourself!
  2. Tyrone also. The scary thing is that it is pretty rare to pick the eventual best player from the draft with pick 1. Chances are he won't be but at this stage I am still happy with the choice.
  3. I am not surprised at all that we looked down on intensity and commitment, our most commited players were playing for Casey and intimidating their way to a victory, albeit a scrappy one. Martin, missed his commitment and smarts in the backline. He is a pure stopper, positions himself well, has no intent to attack, rarely stuffs it up, they scored goals because the constantly had an extra player free in the forward line. Martin would have stopped at least a few goals. Bartram, could have easily put the brakes on one of the small mid/forwards. Miller, lifts the other forwards around him because he is a picture of aggression and commitment, Jack Watts would have walked a lot taller had Miller been by his side. There is of course one recurring theme with the three players listed above; none of them can kick. They are a liability with the ball. I have no doubt we would have been much closer to the mark had all three played yesterday, but can we afford to carry players with poor disposal?
  4. In miller out bell.
  5. Jurrah was great with the ball which is not news to anyone on these forums but he needs to be more committed to getting to contests and getting into them, he is an opportunist which is why i think he disapears from games and generally doesn't get a heap of the ball. He probably is the closest of the rest of young guys to get a call up despite this, if he does play I imagine he will be one of those very frustrating players to follow. Could have had even more impact had he held a few marks he was near, needs a bit more strength.
  6. Brock has never been quick, but this year he looks particularly slow. His disposal has also gone downhill, I think he is actually a very good kick going inside 50 but this year he has had the oportunity a few times and turned it over. The encourraging thing is that he still finds the hard ball so he will always be an asset. I also think the return of a more mature Jamar will allow him a bit more freedom when the ball hits the deck in a ruck contest. Definately a captain next year, and the timing is good if we start to improve. The interesting one for me is Vice captain, not an important role by any stretch, but still interesting.
  7. How much game time? 70% How many Kicks? 9 How many Handballs? 7 How many Goals? 2 How many points? 0 Efficiency? 79% Where will he play? Close to goal or up half forward? Wing/HFF Will he kick a goal with his first kick? No Or hopefully more than just a handball.
  8. If he plays as well as he interviews he'll kick 10!
  9. Nice one dave. The key here is Davis and Didak, we probably can't stop just one of these and definately can't stop both. If JMac is injured Bartram will need to play, Whelan can only do so much. If Medhurst plays I can see it getting ugly.

  11. I would pay $1100 right now. Straight to the pool room.
  12. Well played Jimmy, whether by design or by chance he (and others) has generated a lot of Buzz for the club in the way he has handeled this. This game MUST be won.
  13. Agreed, considering the room in our salary cap I would think we could "buy" one fairly easily, but first we need to get a few things in order; a training base and to get a bit of form up to show a potential player that we are a serious club. For this reason I think we would be in a far better place to trade for a player next year not this year. This also allows us to give our younger ruckmen a chance to develop (which they need).
  14. Awesome, hopefully Watts can bring back that kind of forward dominance and maybe even the hair. Would be great to see the mullet strutting around the forward line again.
  15. I love the IN:OUT threads, so many opinions none of them right. Or should I say correct. OUT Bell IN Cheney I have said before that we shouldn't play a guy for 1 week then drop him, Bell is the exception.
  16. Hopefully a new coach clift their spirits and net them a few more wins, 3 would be nice.
  17. The interesting thing in the video is the remark about the salaray cap. A positive situation considering the way our list is. Well done to our list managers to not cop out and pay too much for players. (warnock)
  18. Fair call, we were a basket case then, and our win loss record hasn't improved. I would think (or at least hope) that anyone from the MFC discussing Sheedy in regard to coaching Melbourne did so as a joke.
  19. I completely misunderstood the title of this thread.
  20. Loved those 2 goals. I agree he was played out of position (forward not back) but I think if he had the confidence to demand the ball he would have been a more effective option than Robbo yesterday. In the forst half he positioned himself in a way that told me he didn't want the ball, a bit like a decoy forward to Robbo. Later in the game the ball got near him almost by chance and he created 2 goals. The biggest problem is his kicking, but I think considering his situation and his clear natural coordination he could teach himself a regular kicking technique. I am pretty close to getting the number 34 on a new jumper.
  21. Agreed the whole system of local councils is a farce, I am all for democracy but at this level of government I fail to see the benefit. Melbourne (the city not football club) needs a better approach to governance.
  22. Now that's a team I would love to see play.
  23. West Coast, and fairly passionate despite not ever living there or having any real conection with Perth. I have tried softening her up, I bought her a membership but she is a stubborn thing. About the only concession I have managed to wrangle out of her is that she won't stand in my way when I brainwash our children (if/when we have them) into bleeding for the Dees.
  24. Early days yet but I am fairly happy with what we have got from Bennell and to a lesser extent Jetta. If you assume that the other three will come on in some form then it is not unreasonable to expect to get 5 'players' from the one draft, which is a good return. A pass for BP so far.
