  1. I was just about to say that this game sticks out as the worst umpired game I can ever remember. I was at work watching it on TV; my colleague on the day thought I was mental. Gah, I'm getting angry again thinking about it. I reckon it was the only time I have ever whinged about the umpiring of a game on Demonland afterwards too.
  2. I've heard people say this on occasion and I just don't see it. As a mod I can see every post that gets deleted (it stays in the thread, just gets hidden to non-admin, for us they appear canary yellow) and I reckon for 99% of the time only one or two posts every few days gets deleted and normally it's a clear and obvious violation of the rules. The only times posts get mass deleted are if a thread goes completely feral and even then I'd say we're pretty generous about what is acceptable, or if someone blatantly hijacks a thread and it goes completely off topic. Genuinely interested in examples of extreme and regular heavy-handedness because I really just don't see it. Personally I find myself erring on giving posts the benefit of the doubt more than anything.
  3. This has got to be a troll thread. Doesn't it? I think it is. I'm closing it. Can't trade rookies anyway.
  4. Lisa Simpson: “Look on the bright side, Dad. Did you know that the Chinese use the same word for ‘crisis’ as they do for ‘opportunity?’” Homer Simpson: “Yes. ‘Crisitunity!’” Definitely a crisitunity.
  5. The interesting thing about Casey is that their side seems to change so much each week. Not just with MFC players either, they seem to cycle their own players through the development league quite a bit too, and yet they seem to just somehow win. I don't know how much difference it really makes, but it's nice that our developing players are able to experience a few wins in their journey.
  6. I completely agree stuie. Losing Jamar not only wore Martin in to the ground but it stuffed our forward structure. We can't afford to go in to this game with a half-arsed ruck structure. As you said - Spencer should play the Jamar role and Martin to play the Clark role. It's not exactly ideal, but it's the best we can muster at the moment. Going in with only one ruck is a crazy idea.
  7. Agree. It wasn't exactly vintage Green, but he played his guts out and was a scoring threat. It was a very pleasing effort and I'm looking forward to seeing him get to 250.
  8. Would you like your dummy back? I just asked for some clarity because what you posted didn't make any sense without having heard the show.
  9. It seems far fetched to me. Bruce was an adult in his 30s with intelligence and a strong commercial sense. If we were talking about a dopey 19 year old kid like Tom Scully it might carry some weight, but not in this case.
  10. Hardnut, doesn't it worry you that this^ guy is the only one in your corner here?
  11. I don't blame him for his stance, and I don't blame the club for its stance either. Both parties looked after their own interests, they didn't align, Cam went. Best of luck Cam and thanks. It's a shame that you and the MFC parted ways in the manner you did, but I guess not all relationships break smoothly. I hope you look back at your time at the MFC positively; and I reckon you deserve much more respect than you get from some around here. It would've been good to see Greeny and co chair you off the field after one last game rather than decaying at Box Hill, but such is life.
  12. I'm assuming Green goes at the end of this year and Davey goes at the end of next. What happens with Rivers is immaterial as there are two outside senior list veteran spots, right?
  13. Thanks rpfc. I didn't have it quite right but the premise holds. Jamar at worst costs us our last rookie player and at best nothing.
  14. I haven't checked my facts here as it's difficult to do on my phone, but as I stand it Davey and Jamar are t he only players eligible for the veterans list for the duration of Jamar's three year deal, and Davey will be gone by the end of the first one. Therefore with Jamar being a veteran, it means that all he's really costing us is one spot on the rookie list and half his pay in the salary cap. It's only as other players start becoming eligible for the veterans list that it may become an issue, but until then there's no downside to him being around. I don't know how the abolishment of the rookie list affects this though.
  15. This happens because the play ahead is too congested, so you transfer the play to the other side of the ground where players have space. Calling for the players never to do this is all well and good, but there has to be a better option and usually if there's players free behind it means those ahead are outnumbered. Not much else you can do in that situation.
  16. This is seriously lacking in context. What the Deuce are you talking about? Denham didn't have a say in what, and was Smith having a joke or what?
  17. I wonder why he changed his name? There was a bloke who played for North Melbourne and St Kilda - Kristian Anning who changed his last name to Bardsley which coincided with him changing clubs. Not something you see every day!
  18. We'd be on our own by the 8th round anyway, so that is immaterial. 12 delistings is still far too many.
  19. You are completely out of touch with reality if you think we'll delist 12 players. Your so-called source was just humouring you. Which gun mega star junior player do you reckon we'll take with our 12th round draft pick Biff? Bearing in mind it will have been completely pillaged by the 5th.
  20. It really depends on where other players are at, but we could also keep him on the senior list and promote a rookie for him since he'd be on the LTI for most of the year. We'd need to not be desperate to find players to delist at the end of this year though.
  21. You can only think of 12 players we should keep. You're right - let's make 33 changes to the list then. Alternatively, we keep every player who isn't one of the 6 or 7 we delist.
  22. It's also not the share market. I never cease to be amazed at the number of posters who want to trade players purely because their trade value is high.
  23. Here's an idea: keep our best players.
