  1. Mark Thompson resigned too and is in a similar position at Essendon. Wonder why?
  2. Our best defender... who spent half the year as a forward? Chip the Spud. FFS. For every poster with the rose coloured glasses on, there's one with poo coloured glasses on that sees the worst in everything.
  3. What? You're not saying that it's all just wild speculation? I can't believe it. I honestly thought that if it came the internet then it must be true. Thanks for enlightening me. The majority of people contributing in this thread have been around for years and don't need to be told of Nudge's track record. He's almost reached legend status around here these days. Take the rumours for what they're worth and stop assuming that everyone who has bought in to this thread is an idiot.
  4. Your post(s) implied Kennedy left for money, and now that you've been challenged, you've changed your story. You've done exactly what BH reckons I did earlier in the thread
  5. Obvious sheet-stirrer is obvious.
  6. I don't actually think you missed my point, because from what I've read in this thread I don't think what you're saying is very far apart from what I'm saying. Got the money, got the space, use it to improve the list. I'm not trying to defend the numbers I put forward, by the way, I'm trying to dismiss them. I put zero thought in to the numbers I put in that post because I didn't really think it was the point. They were throwaway, but you've run with it. McGlynn, Kennedy, Richards and Shaw were all players that were either on or very close to the scrapheap. They were fringe players at their existing club. The equivalent on our list is James Sellar. Wellingham is obviously not as valuable a player as Mumford, but for the purposes of this discussion he's closer to Mumford - who you agree Sydney overpaid for - than he is to those other guys. I agree with every word of this.
  7. I'd love him in our side. He's a competent big forward to compliment Clark, and furthermore would spare Clark of undesirable ruck duties. Would be a significant upgrade on Martin. I'd be surprised and disappointed if we weren't giving it a crack.
  8. The numbers don't and can't mean anything unless you have a point of reference, which we don't without knowing what everyone else is paid. They're just arbitrary numbers I used to illustrate an underlying point about strategy; I wasn't trying to establish any sort of dollar value on the player, because from outside the system you just can't. If I hadn't have quoted actual numbers and just used algebraic symbols instead, would you still be seeking this argument? Because it wouldn't have changed my point at all, but you seem to be hung up on the actual number I said. So you're right - in practice, if you're the list manager with the data in front of you, the numbers mean everything. But without the actual numbers in front of you, the only thing that we can reasonably argue is list management strategy.
  9. I know this is going to sound like weasle words, but my point was less about the actual numbers and more about the point that we would need to, and would be in a position to significantly overpay. I was really just trying to make a point about the scale rather than the absolute numbers (as it's all just guesswork when I don't know how much we're paying our other players), and I still maintain that if we've got the cap room now and in to the future, there's no drawback in doing that if we want the player. I never "wanted" to pay $750k to Wellingham. I don't even particularly "want" Wellingham personally, I was just writing my posts on the assumption that the club did.
  10. Ah, Nudge. I thought you'd been lost forever. I'll put my hand up as one who has given you a hard time in the past, but I've matured and seen the light. Keep them coming.
  11. I've been reminded of two things from this thread and have one question: - two sheds was an excellent poster who had a way with words. RIP - occo was an horrendous poster. Definitely don't miss him. - what ever happened to Rojik of the Arctic? Definitely one of the more curious usernames I've ever seen. Edit: oh, he was banned for something. Never mind.
  12. Nathan Jones Brownlow vote: 14. Total Melbourne votes: 27. Jones is 52% of our whole team - yeah that sounds about right.
  13. Caps off a fantastic year. Considering the team won a total of 4 games I thought this was an incredible effort. It was obvious he would top the polling for us, but 14 was more votes than I thought. Well done Jonesy.
  14. I wouldn't have said it at the start of the night, but right now the alternative is Mitchell winning as he is the only player still realistically within reach and while I have nothing against Mitchell, I just think that would be a boringly predictable result.
  15. That he wins. As I said I'm a fan despite his colours.
  16. Watson 7 ahead now with three rounds to go. Fingers crossed.
  17. Because two of the best three players on the ground belonged to them despite the score. That was even the general feeling on Demonland at the time too.
  18. Not really. If they'd have won he'd have been a monty for the 3, he damn near pulled them across the line all on his own.
  19. Hmm, thought I saw the "X" on his name, but I could be on drugs. I don't remember him getting rubbed out and now can't find any evidence that he was. In that case, good, I hope he wins. I'm a huge fan of his as a player, so much that I don't even hold the fact that he wears an Essendon jumper against him.
  20. Jobe Watson is in front but ineligible on 26, Scotty Thompson has 21. Up to round 15ish I think. Big tribute to Jimmy on now, Brian Stynes giving a tearful speech.
  21. Those of the Baldarsebastard race all look the sameanyway.
