Couldn't be happier for Nev. A-grade person made of the right stuff - always wanted him to make it due to his tenacity and aggression, but didn't think he would. Well done.

Digging for gold - Targetting Under-achievers
Nasher replied to jabberwocky's topic in Melbourne Demons
Roos at Sydney showed that there are plenty of players looking ordinary that can be helped to thrive in the right environment. Ted Richards and Josh Kennedy are the two that stick out in my mind. Doesn't mean we need to look at every struggler in the game, but we should at least be on the lookout. You're right in that there's always a risk that they'll be rubbish here if they're rubbish there, doesn't mean we shouldn't look though. And developing underachievers from outside doesn't mean we can't develop our own at the same time as we have with Neville Jetta. I reckon most of ours are lost causes though. -
I'd be really sorry to see Hawthorn lose this game. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh god, I just can't say it with a straight face.

If that were the case I expect he'd have has his captain duties relinquished when Trengove did.

I turned the TV off at 3/4 time in that game and have tried to block it from my memory since. -

Thanks, didn't think that seemed right, but I just assumed the data I looked at was correct. Doesn't change my point much anyway. -

Buntine was supposedly part of a trade package with GWS last year, but we ended up with some other GWS spud instead. Didn't play a game this year and has a total of 9 to his name Played 7 games this year for a total of 16. Don't know anything at all about him so I can't comment on what he'd add, but I can't imagine he'd cost much now. -
I agree that it was boring, but I don't think it was due to the game feeling artificial, it was because one of the team advanced too far in the series for their talent level, and got an education from a truly classy contender. I thought the quality of the finals so far this year have generally been pretty good.

Demonland has a lot of active members, and as such, pretty much every conceivable view gets some air time. And funnily enough, everyone thinks their own view is the right one. Any time someone puts a view forward, it's pretty reasonable to expect someone to disagree. It's what forums are all about.

Honeymoon's over for North you'd think. I've watched both their finals so far and they'd been good, but the Swans are just a class above. So jealous.

As amusing as that exchange was, Moneider96 has been banned for a week. Next time just send me a PM and ask instead of polluting a perfectly clean thread. With your 92.5% uni grades, you should be able to manage that.

Really disappointing year I thought. He's got pace and has shown ball winning ability before, just didn't fire a shot this year. He's meant to be a hard working outsider; Ro Bail showed that you don't need heaps of skill to play this role in our side at present. Last roll of the dice in 2015. I don't think he'll be delisted while contracted but it may at least be considered.

There is absolutely no reason to kick the guy. He's gone.

When have we ever asked for our defenders to beat the world anyway? They need to beat their man, and know when to help their teammates beat their man. McDonald does these.

I'm a huge fan, even if he does have some head-in-hands moments with the ball. I love a KPD who I can trust to win contests.

The most over-criticised player on our list after Watts.

Unless you're taking an adult from the second tier competitions, I'd have thought any kid you take with your last pick is long odds of playing. Given the two kids we took as rookies - King and Harmes - never got near the side either, I don't think there is much of a case to answer here.

Dreaming is okay, so long as we don't get all "Hrmph, typical MFC losers, nothing good ever happens to us" when he doesn't come.

Riley. It is Riley. Reilly is that other guy that still plays for Adelaide.
-
Thanks guys. Where would we be without official thread enders?
-
He does waste it and that's why I think we won't get him. I like him but he's a foot soldier. We need good users of the footy.

It wasn't meant to be harsh. If you make the 'R' in NQR 'ready' instead of 'right' then I think it's probably fairer.

Absolutely. And what an opportunity of a lifetime for a coach with senior gig ambitions:1- lengthy contract (I'm guessing) 2- Guaranteed gig after 2 years 3- Two years "practice" - calling the shots without having the pressure or responsibility that comes with it 4- Working with one of the best in the business 5- entering a senior gig already knowing the players and the club, without having to waste time learning the place, ie can hit the ground running

Me too. I wouldn't know a good coach if one kicked me in the crotch, but he apparently has shown promise and the plan seems sound. It also feels nice not to get screwed over, which it looked like we might for a while last night.
