  1. I agree Clint. I've said it in the thread already, supporters massively overrate the value of draft picks. Roos has even said a similar thing himself I believe. It's why I thought at the time that surrendering pick 20 and 2 for Tyson and 9 was a bloody fantastic deal at the time. I saw downgrading 2 to 9 as a very minor change - just as likely to get a good player in the 6-10 range as you are 1-5, so it amounted to Pick 20 for Tyson and loose change. It's the sort of thing I'm hoping for in this trade, if it happens.
  2. This exactly the reason why it staggers me that people won't give up our early pick(s) for Dangerfield. Even at pick 3 it's absolutely no certainty to get a great player. Most of those guys are good players, but not one of them is amongst the cream of the competition (as Dangerfield is). Hill and Martin come close. Imagine if we had picks 2 and 3 and picked up the equivalent of Lachie Hansen and Chris Masten? (The quote above comes from the Peter Jackson thread on the main board but my reply clearly relates to Dangerfield)
  3. If that's true - and I doubt it is - it shows how ridiculous Essendon are at the trade table. I've heard plenty of information that indicates this is the case.
  4. Welcome back cobber. All the facts, rumours, conjecture and plain old BS is here in the thread. Up to you to decide what's real or not - that's the fun bit!
  5. Nudge confessed to being Chilliboy after denying it for ages. They are definitely the same person.
  6. Again, all we're being told is what *Collingwood* thinks about the matter. Melbourne Football Club and Mitch Clark remain dead silent on the matter. I agree that it looks like he's gone, but I reckon a few posters above me could afford to hold fire a bit; they are abusing Clark purely because of stuff that Collingwood said.
  7. I've evolved over the years in regards to forum rumours. Early days: gullible, believe any rumour I heard, get excited, feel bitterly disappointed when they didn't go through Middle days: refuse to believe anything, get annoyed every time someone posts hearsay Recent days: Believe the rumours I like the sound of but understand they could be crap, keep emotions completely divorced until things start to pan out. Enjoy the ride, never feel disappointed, but feel ecstatic when things actually come to fruition.
  8. And truthfully, I hope we don't sell the farm as well, but I think the crucial point for me it's the team that holds the draft picks that takes the risk. I really hope that if we must offer both our early picks, we get one of their early picks back somehow.
  9. I've seen the "load up to the eyeballs in top 10 draft picks" before too, which is why I'm gun-shy on passing up a proven performer whose best years are still ahead of him, for draft picks.
  10. I'm a fan. Unlike a couple of his locker room neighbours, I don't think he's symptomatic of our plight; I think he's undervalued among supporters. He runs hard, tackles hard, uses the ball OK most of the time, and finds the goals. My biggest concern would be more about finding the ball enough, especially on bad days - he can become the invisible man sometimes. I think this will improve with experience. Will play most games again next year I think.
  11. I am. The two things are barely related. I highly doubt one compromised the other.
  12. I know. He coached us for three years and we mourned him too. Eat a turd Kevin, you cantankerous old flog.
  13. Danger's just a washed up hack on his last legs. Won't get near it.
  14. Jones is currently second on our list, closely behind Dangerfield
  15. All this count is doing for me is bringing back painful repressed memories.
  16. I suppose, but at least there's some basis of plausibility with the fact that Dangerfield is a FA next year, so Adelaide's hands could be somewhat forced. There's absolutely no way in hell Sydney will let Parker go or be amenable to a trade. They'll tell us to get stuffed.
  17. By my calculation, Dangerfield has missed 6 games in the last 6 years. The least number of games he's played in that time is 19, and he's played every game 3 out of 6 years, including this year. That hardly seems like a broken down, dilapidated old body. He's 24 years old and flying in every sense. If you reckon a bloke who's hardly missed a game since he started is showing signs of being a broken down old has-been by the time he's 29, you've got a very different take on things to me.
  18. In other words: forget the trade that is looking viable, and go after one you have no hope of pulling off.
  19. Why are we talking about Nudge and Chiliboy as if they are two different people?
  20. They both just look like babies. It's easy to forget how young 20 is (and seems to get younger the further away I get from it!).
  21. They've got to push him out. Didn't even come close this year.
  22. The blank cheque we have allegedly handed him would be a good starting point.
  23. That isn't a quote, it's an inference from the author of the article. The actual quote says this, which is much less black and white (in fact I'd say it's particularly vague): “I love the city, I love the Club and I love playing there,” Dangerfield said. “And that’s all that needs to be said.” And it's not being pedantic. The words people use are important. As soon as the author of an article (or forum post) leave out the actual quote, it goes from "out of the horse's mouth" to "hearsay". And funnily enough, you haven't given us the radio quote either.
  24. Where, in the article you linked, was he quoted as saying he is not leaving?
