Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
Nasher replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think it's a case of intercepting, more like picking it up off the ground where it's lying broken. -

If that's the case, I have grossly misjudged Beams' character and I apologise. -
I'd say the club has both options on the boil - it's possible they're both right. Watching this drag out for another week is going to kill me.

While you never know with footy clubs, Beams and Lumumba being close doesn't exactly have a Yin-Yang feel to it -

Possibly - requires updates from the software developers sadly. A more pressing need is to update it so I can bulk delete posts from it - nothing worse than getting stuck in a car or out and about and seeing about 15 posts I need to delete because BBO, Biffen and friends have found the thread or something, and can't. -

Now there *must* be a way I can assign that to the official emoticon list under or something. Leave it with me. -
I'm not that greedy, my lord. One elite player would be a really good bloody start.

"Is reluctant, but would not block the trade". Jack's a good kid and will understand the nature of the game and how the system works. He'll hate the idea to start with due to his loyal nature, but eventually he'll get over it. Even if it is part of a bigger deal that has us celebrating, I'd still be sorry to see him go. Bittersweet. -
He's busy preparing his "scoop" with his "inside word" on the Trengove trade. I'm tipping he'll tell us we're going to get Beams, complete with a few one liners about how everyone feels about it.

Not sure if it's the club getting us ready for it, or just trying to control the speculation. Either way I like the way the club has operated throughout this whole thing - we've heard nothing at all that we didn't need to hear, and when we did need to hear things it's been delivered in a sensible fashion. I'm impressed. Edit: JJH has probably blown it by giving Purple and co some very juicy fodder though. -

In Roos we trust... unless he does something we don't agree with. I must admit I panicked when I first heard of this deal. The possibility that it's part of a bigger picture + the knowledge that even if it's not, these blokes know what they're doing has calmed me significantly. -

You're my new favourite poster. I don't even care if you're lying. -

After Mahoney said that Richmond came to us with the deal, the idea that it's part of a mega-deal is just wishful thinking now. -

What did Akermanis say about the Bulldogs? I vaguely recall a furore about it but can't remember the contents. -

AFL involved in Port Adelaide/Essendon Draft Rort
Nasher replied to deanox's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nah. While I'm no fans of any of the following teams, I don't hold Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney or indeed anyone else in the same contempt that I hold Essendon in, and I'll readily admit to being jealous of those other clubs. -
Who ever said Neeld or McCartney were "too hard" other than a few flogs on a footy forum? "Too incompetent" would be more accurate.

Look you've already had the point beaten in to you, but crud post. You've been here for a year - Ash has been here for 10 (since pre IPB forum days) and has the respect of the admin and the old posters around here. A bit of debate coming from outside the bubble from time to time does us good and makes things interesting. -
Great idea. You could call it a "zone". Then you could build a time machine and teleport out of 1978 back to 2014 where all teams have (almost) equal access to the players.
-
Hah. I couldn't give a stuff about Sydney but I'm just shaking my head at the absurdity of this response from the AFL. This situation is completely out of control; it is a mess entirely of the AFL's own making, and this is just blatantly unreasonable IMO. How are they supposed to trade at all if they can't bundle players in to deals?

How come?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
Nasher replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Must come with baggage to have been that cheap (yes I know about the charges etc). That is bargain bin stuff. Can't go wrong with this IMO. He's clearly a talented player and has three solid seasons on the board, with only one really poor one in this year. Much to gain, little to lose. By the way, if anyone wants to pre-emptively pan him and/or the club for recruiting him in anticipation of it all going pear-shaped in 12 months time, speak now or forever hold your peace. There is a chance this may not work out, so I'd like the nay-sayers to put their hand up now rather than spitting a nana later.
