Roos named Melbourne Coach

Normally when I view Demonland I get no ads because I've paid my subscription. However, sometimes I view Demonland from an iPad when not logged in, so I get adverts. Some of these adverts are for dating agencies, personal contact, women seeking men etc. There has been concerned expressed that while these sites are not necessarily dangerous in themselves, clicking through from these sites can easily lead to exposure to pornography and downloading X-rated cookies. The letter below from describes the issue: Another parent complained: "We had an episode with our son, not the same but scary like this, last weekend and we thought we were tough. It can happen to anyone. We have now taken the Internet and google off his iPad (even though we had all restriction settings on high and explicit content off etc.) He has to ask to us if he wants to search something. We are now researching a program to aid in helping stop this from happening. And for how long it will keep these disgusting people overriding it I'm not sure." I would just like to know what controls Demonland has in place to filter adverts that show on the site, and to avoid possible "X-rated click through" issues. I'm mainly concerned about junior Demon followers who read here.

Actually it's a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) and it's more applicable to a project or business venture than an individual's assessment.

Fixed.

I'll stay indoors for the next few minutes.

The club will move on. It will be Demonland that has the problem.

I think he's marginally better making dumb decisions as a forward than dumb decisions as a back.

Its about time to reflect on the Free Agency period
mauriesy replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
Plus he's nearly done. Not many on that list I'd want. Thomas, Ellis, Stokes and Dal Santo and that's about it. The last two are nearly 30. -
To think that Richmond has got to 5th by drafting Deledio, Cotchin, Martin and Conca ... all midfielders with first-round picks ... then topped up with Grigg and Houli, while we fiddle-faddled around with Morton, Gysberts, Scully, Watts and Cook, then topped up with Sellar, Meesen and Joel Macdonald. We didn't even pick the other Grimes. Shall I light the fuse?

Those two statements seem to contradict each other.

That's only a couple per post.

If Roos gets us 2-3 sponsors and 5000 extra members, it's not a cost, it's an investment.

Sydney's performance under Roos: 2003: 4th 2004: 6th 2005: Premiers 2006: Runners-up 2007: 7th 2008: 6th 2009: 12th 2010: 5th Coached 202 games at Sydney, for 16 finals matches, winning 9 finals, one premiership. It's a better record than any other available coach, and sure beats the hell out of our last seven years. With Roos grounding and the terrific culture established, the Swans under Longmire have since finished 7th, Premiers and (this year so far) 4th.

If the Messiah arrives, there'll be no Haydn for the players.

Can we have Roos fading in slowly on the Demonland banner? About 50% transparency would be right.
-
Wouldn't you know that someone from North Melbourne would be the first whinger to appear.

I'm expecting some improvement in 2014, and hoping for something more dramatic. There's no 100% guarantee of success under Roos, but his appointment still thrashes all the other options. I just hope Roos' first public pronouncement is that success will not be achieved overnight, and that it's a long, hard, incremental process. None of this 'hardest side to play against' rubbish.

Our beloved Greg Denham thinks it's all wrapped up: "Melbourne, which plays its final game for the season tomorrow against the Western Bulldogs, is working towards announcing Roos at Thursday night's best-and-fairest award function ... ... The Australian understands Roos has a package of former and present Sydney associates ready to head to the Demons, including highly respected assistant coach George Stone, who will head up a new Melbourne development program, which is a priority for the club. As well, premiership defender Tadhg Kennelly is expected to join Roos as an assistant coach. Roos' current contract with Fox Footy expires at the end of the current season." Indeed. While it will be a wonderful appointment, it only gets us to Camp 1 on Everest. Most of the climb to the summit, and the hardest bit, is still to come. But at least we will have disposed of the team that couldn't even negotiate the icefall at the bottom.

No way will we solve our midfield problems in the 2013 draft and trade period. They are deep and require strong action. Our top picks in 2014 should still be used on midfielders.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
mauriesy replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
It refers to any 'end of 1st round compensation picks (for example, for UFAs or RFAs), not for earlier priority picks or compensation picks awarded mid-round. It's a logical absurdity that they could get a pick at the end of round 1 before a compensation pick awarded earlier! -

It could possibly be #19-24 if a priority pick is granted or if there are still compensatory GCFC/GWS picks to be utilised. If Essendon finished, say, 8th, they'd normally be entitled to #11. It's still quite a demotion in the pecking order. -
Change a few words in that sentence and you could get to the truth about Watts: "... if we were to re-sign Watts for a fair deal, I would be all for keeping him because he has a rare set of skills and he could be a fantastic player if he develops the other side he so desperately needs." Why swap one for the other? I'm not sure either can develop the "other side" of their game.
