The height discussion this thread is one person arguing an incorrect view. Move on. JVR has the size to be an effective marking forward option and looks like a talented tough kid.
-
Well neither of these teams will challenge this year. Defense wins premierships, and neither of these teams can defend against momentum to save themselves. Pray one of them finishes fourth so we get a free ride into the prelim.
-
It is a record home and away crowd between these teams. 45000-50000.
-
Talented player who was very entertaining to watch. Hope he is alright and enjoys the next stage of his life.
-
He toured GWS years ago before he exploded as a player and when he wanted to leave Richmond. After meeting him, GWS said thanks but no thanks 🤣 That turned out well for them! He went scurrying back to the Tigers and took a lower paid deal at the time. Funny how things work out. He became a superstar and then got a very big contract. Could see him finishing at the swans as a forward.
-
That’s what we all hope for, but he’s not there yet. He’s still a kid and he isn’t ready to replace Ben Brown or TMac in the current wide. He’s behind Weid on form also. Give him time and in the next 1-2 years he’ll probably be ready to step up and get a taste.

Ryan only getting a week for a deliberate bump that hit the head is absurd. Chandler getting two weeks for an unlucky tackle at pace comparatively is even more absurd. Why does the MRO exist at this point? Why are the AFL not held accountable for their lies? Protect the head… ok, then penalty for Ryan’s action is 10 weeks. To ignore the game around you and just hip and shoulder someone’s head is a basically the worst thing you could do on a footy field outside pulling a Barry Hall punch instead. I don’t mind Chandler getting a two week suspension for the unlucky tackle. I do mind the deliberate head bump having less of a penalty!

Though he played both forward and back at underage level, the club is developing him as a forward. We have no other young tall forward talent. B Brown and TMac retire in the coming years (ask will M Brown and Daw) and we need to replace them. We have Weid and that’s it.down back we have plenty of options after May retires in a few years. We’ve got Lever, Petty, Tomlinson, Smith, Turner. Roo will develop and stay a forward. He’s developing well so far for a young tall and will likely see game time at senior level next year IMO. He competes really well, not afraid of a contest, hits packs, shows footy smarts too. Exciting to see what he’ll become for our club in a few years.

According to Fox Sports, Foley is set to miss Round 10 due to concussion. Pretty much guarantees Chandler will cop a suspension, probably 1 week after early plea.

Hunt is now playing the small lockdown defender role and doing a great job, highlights being blanketing AA level Bolton and Higgins. On form and role, he’s locked in the 22. Rivers would be the one to make way for Salem on 2022 form.

Is Jayden Hunt playing the Neville Jetta role?
Lord Travis replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hunt has been playing lockdown small defender role this year. He’s gone through yet another change in role where we’re not seeing as much rebound and dash from him, but he’s instead given a defined lockdown role. Credit to him and coaches for reinventing him in a different role than his strengths would logically lend themselves too this far into his career. He’s been superb and has blanketed basically all small forwards this year, including some All Aus level ones in Bolton and Higgins. Solidifying this new role means he’ll stay in the 22 when Salem returns from injury. -
[censored] hell Trac. Fix that kicking!
-
We should be absolutely belting the Eagles. They’re completely stuffed from Covid and ageing playing list. I don’t think people get how bad they are. Here’s some perspective. The only team with a worse percentage than this Eagles team in the past 20 years is GWS in their first season at 46%. Even our worst year under Neeld we were 54%. To not be 60 points up at least by this stage is weak. We’re playing Hollywood footy today with players taking stupid shots and wanting highlight reel stuff instead of just doing the team thing. After that assy move by Gawn, Goodwin was shown fuming on the bench!
-
Too much Hollywood [censored] today. Get back to basics and we win by 100+. This is poor.
-
Petraccas goal kicking for 2022 - 8 goals, 14 points (not counting complete misses). 2021 - 29 goals, 19 behinds. Tracs a superstar, but needs to tidy up his set shot routine if he’s to hit the highs of last year and hold the mantle of best player in the game.
-
Hope Trac gets his goal kicking radar back online before finals. His set shots have been poor this year.
-
Need to be a lot cleaner going inside 50. Shouldn’t be hard playing against an absolutely ****house team. Eagles are Neeld era bad and will have percentage in the 40s after today! Cmon boys put the foot down and be ruthless!
-
100+ win or extra training session as punishment 😜
-
Having seen the official teams now, anything less than a 60 point win would be a disappointment for the club. We can bang on about being defensive and our style not being conducive to smashing teams, but if we can’t absolutely [censored] them on turnover then it’d be disappointing. Freo and Brisbane both smashed them and are now a chunk of percentage ahead of us. If we drop a game then we fall to third. Percentage is important and this next two matches against Eagles and North is our best chance to give it an almighty bump. Be ruthless Dees. Let’s score 100+ and keep them to 30 or less.

The very, very contentious 50 for Dissent Rule
Lord Travis replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
It has disappeared the past fortnight. Multiple times players have raised arms and yelled at umpires again recently with no penalty. Thank god they backtracked the pathetic over-officiating of the rule. "Arms up, that's 50". 😆 -
Where does Gus play when Salem returns?
Lord Travis replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm torn on this. I would've thought it's temporary to cover injuries, but Gus has been brilliant down back and his ability to read the play and intercept mark has surprised me. He's an elite interceptor it turns out! I'd be hesitant to shift him away from defence now, such is his impact on games this year. He's been BOG a few times already IMO. Rivers has been down on form this season since returning from injury, so I'd say on current form he makes way for Salem when he returns from injury, whilst JJ holds his wing spot. -
He was captain of Gold Coast, so yes he was already a leader when we recruited him. He's definitely improved since coming to MFC and maturing further though.
-
Also loved him "spoiling" Z. Jones to even the ledger after his tunnelling of Langdon. You'd [censored] yourself with May in your area. Imagine standing under a high ball with him coming at you 😆

Always refreshing to hear him speak as he's so honest and open in a time when players and coaches are trined to straight bat every question. He's a ripper and is having another brilliant season. Thank god we had him down there as a rock in defence with all the other injuries early on.

It’s a disgrace. The Dogs are blatant cheaters and the umpires rarely penalize them. Can’t stand them. ****test club in the league the soft whingers. Was thrilled we belted them in the grand final last year. Rewatch that demolition regularly!
