I hate Hawthorn with a passion. They really are obnoxious supporters. Glad we won our drought breaking Premiership in 2021 just to shut them up!

Choco Williams is the New Goal Kicking Coach
Supreme_Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Definitely think Christian Petracca's kicking style looks a lot smoother. Hoping that he, Alex Neal-Bullen, Charlie Spargo and Clayton Oliver kick ALOT more goals in season 2023. If both Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver can each kick over 35 goals this season it will put them in strong chances to possibly win that elusive Brownlow Medal. -
If we cannot get something built in the MCG/Olympic Park/Gosch's Paddock precinct then I am not against this idea at Caulfield Racecourse as a secondary option. Eitherway, we need to hold the Melbourne Football Club Board accountable and expect to hear an update on our Home Base at the Melbourne Football Club AGM on the 20th of February.

Choco Williams is the New Goal Kicking Coach
Supreme_Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mark "Choco" Williams understand the importance of good kicking in football. That's why he gets AFL players to do various kicking drills and has designed AFL Sherrin footballs with the red or yellow tape on them to help improve kicking. Making Mark "Choco" Williams the goal-kicking coach makes sense. He was leading Collingwood goal kicker way back in 1984 and actually kicked 7 goals in a match against Hawthorn once. Not bad for a midfielder! Let's hope he can get Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver to kick more goals!- 64 replies

The Sydney Swans are showing off their brand new Home Base in this Tik-Tok video. Here is the link: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZS8P9eSFT/ I think it's only fair and reasonable to ask the Melbourne Football Club Board as to the progress of our own Home Base as promised in the Strategic Plan 2020-2023.

Eddie likes to have an opinion about everything. Full of ideas about other AFL Clubs which he has nothing to do with! While Port Melbourne has it's merits I cannot see that possibility happening unless all other options are exhausted. If anything Collingwood should leave Olympic Park and move somewhere else and we can bulldoze the Holden Centre and build something a lot nicer. I bet Eddie wouldn't like that idea! The priority, at this stage, should be something at Gosch's Paddock. Ideally using "Carpark F" and nearby surrounds. The big issue is the cost of probably $100 million or more. Anyway, I will not rest until this matter of our Home Base has been rectified. We need to hold the Melbourne Football Club Board accountable for getting this issue finalised!

I am hopeful someone will ask the question about what is going on with our Home Base at the upcoming Melbourne Football Club AGM on the 20th of February. I would do so myself but I won't be available unfortunately. It is vital that we continue to keep the pressure on the Melbourne Football Club Board about this matter of our Home Base.

Mark Williams SEN interview 31/01/2023
Supreme_Demon replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gotta love Mark "Choco" Williams. He really is an eccentric football genius. I hope we keep him at the Melbourne Demons for as long as possible. -
Ideally a Premiership should be the pass mark for 2023. Especially after the bitterly disappointing end to the 2022 AFL season being bundled out of the finals in straight sets. The Demons need to take advantage while they are in their Premiership window. However, Brisbane, Collingwood, Geelong, Sydney and Richmond will all be formidable opponents.

Was just about to post the same thing. Another $77 million dollar upgrade for Whitten Oval. Here is the direct link to the news article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/864461/short-term-pain-long-term-gain-dogs-hq-to-be-transformed It is humiliating that we are getting ignored as an AFL Club. We need to get this sorted with our home training and administration base or the Melbourne Football Club will get left behind.

Michael Hibberd & Jake Melksham - 1 Year Extensions
Supreme_Demon replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Michael Hibberd has played 101 games for the Demons (84 games at the Bombers). Whereas, Jake Melksham has played 94 games for the Demons (114 games at the Bombers). Let's hope Jake gets the remaining 6 AFL games for the Demons to get to 100 games. I am always thinking of possible Father-Son (or Father-Daughter) opportunities for the Demons and I know the rule is 100 games for an AFL Club. Fingers crossed both of them get a 1 year contract extension for season 2023. I guess we shall find out if this happens in the next day or so? -
Which Demon is the most likely to have a breakout year in 2023?
Supreme_Demon replied to Chelly's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would love to see Bailey Laurie step up and play AFL games in season 2023. -
Interesting selections for your phantom draft. Great stuff and plenty of food for thought.😎👍 I am going to wait a little while and then consider doing my own. There are two main elements to consider. 1) As mentioned previously, the ultimate decision of best talent available versus needs basis requirements. 2) Do we risk taking another interstate draftee due to the "go home" factor or go for a Victorian? Either way, I am certain Jason Taylor and the MFC recruitment staff are having these important discussions.

I am glad Christian Petracca is such a driven and professional footballer for the Demons. I hope he is enjoying his holiday in Europe and getting plenty of rest and relaxation too. 😎👍

I voted "No" to the limited changes in favour of the Deemocracy group. I believe the entire MFC constitution needs to be overhauled. People may disagree with how I voted but everyone has their own views. I hope that the MFC board and Deemocracy group can eventually come to an amicable resolution. I am sure these problems can be resolved if both parties sat down amd worked it all out peacefully.

Looks like the Brisbane Lions have had their brand new $80 million dollar training facility for both their AFL and AFLW teams completed. Here is the link to the article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/858701 Let's hope the MFC board and home base committee takes note of this. Fingers crossed we hear some good news regarding an update for our own home base soon. 🤞

Improving the Demons coaching staff for 2023?
Supreme_Demon replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I definitely agree that any recently retired AFL player who has a passion for coaching should at least be considered. In my view I would be giving Brett Ratten a call and seeing if he is interested in possibly taking on an assistant coaching role at the Demons (again). Especially, if we end up losing Adem Yze to the Saints.- 104 replies

Looking forward to seeing Brodie Grundy run out for the mighty Demons!🔴🔵👹 Let's hope he can help us win against the Magpies! That would be even sweeter!

I have to admit that Isaac Keeler would definitely be an ideal replacement for Luke Jackson. He is a tall forward-ruck currently standing at 198cms and is from North Adelaide in the SANFL. More information can be found out regarding Isaac via this link: https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/isaac-keeler/ Obviously, he is from South Australia so there is the risk of the go home factor. But he certainly has a lot of talent. Isaac would have to be up there as one of the tallest Aboriginal players that I can ever recall. However, there may be even taller ones that I have no knowledge of. Here is his highlights video: In my view, Isaac Keeler is well worth considering with pick 13# (to become pick 14#) in the 2022 AFL National Draft.

Thank you for the link to the podcast. It was most enlightening. Jason Taylor also mentioned he is contracted to the Demons for at least another 4 years. So that's a positive! 🙂 I get the impression from Jason Taylor that he wants to stay at the Club for the long haul and build a Demons Dynasty. He is certainly not satisfied with just one Premiership for the Melbourne Football Club.

I am definitely curious as to whether or not our more experienced Demonland members who have a keen eye for young talented footballers might know who will be around the pick 37# mark in this year's National AFL Draft? Overall, I am just going on what I read online and what has been shown in "power rankings" and Phantom Drafts. I find that Cal Twomey on the AFL website usually gets it about 90% correct with predicted selections though.
-
I think a grade of an A- is about right for the Demon's trade period. I admit to carrying on like a pork chop regarding the Luke Jackson trade. Like the rest of us I wanted a top 7 pick. But in the end, we did alright out of it with the Dockers, given the circumstances, and far better than the Bulldogs did losing Josh Dunkley to the Lions. As others have mentioned, you just gotta wait until the trade period is over to make a proper rational assessment. We are in good hands with Tim Lamb and the rest of the MFC list management team.
-
Fingers crossed we get a "slider" at pick 37# in the Draft. In Jason Taylor we trust! 😎👍

I don't think there's any harm in the MFC coaching staff and Max Gawn meeting up with Sydney Stack for a coffee and at least seeing if it is worth giving him a final chance or not?
-
I got the impression from MFC list manager Tim Lamb, in the interview he did, that we are likely to hold onto our picks. Especially, as the 2023 AFL Draft is supposed to have a deeper amount of talent. Having said that, you never know what may possibly happen? 🤷🏼♂️
