Compare that to Sandi when he was 19. He took so long to show what Maximum did... and he only has a couple of inches on him.

Just like to single out someone everyone has overlooked, perhaps because he flashed in and out of the game. Bennell was tougher tonight than usual, and when he got it, things happened. It's true of him most of the time that when he gets it and has a little room, he puts his foot down, and tears away. Had he put through that amazing long run through the guts for a goal, that would have been the end of the game right there. Not exactly a career-changing game, and there were certainly issues, like his consistency, but I remember being impressed by his smarts and at times his toughness. Things that have been problems in the past. He actually generated some ball tonight.

Moloney, Jones and Sylvia are supposed to be our hardest players. But suddenly our tackles, clearances, and rebounds through the corridor are up... and it's when Trengove, Scully and McKenzie come back and find some freedom. When you have the latter three names as your SECOND midfield... and you have Martin playing like Jamar, and Gawn doing his job as a reliever, and as a marking target... You can't ask for a whole lot more.

I need to declare I'm in love with 2 people...Trengove and Watts
Dappa Dan replied to Footynut's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Trengove is one of two players on the list I have ZERO worries about becoming a top player in the AFL. Zero. I don't even worry about injuries with him. He puts his head down, and attacks the contest in a smart way. Even when he does things wrong, he does them right. The free he gave against at the start of the game... you forgive him that cos he had no options, and decided to take the tackle, rather than make a desperate disposal to an opposition player. Watching him operate around the ground is a thing of pure football beauty. Poetry in motion. We have a lot of character about this side... Scully's zippiness and quick reactions/hands, Moloney's blunt force trauma, Sylvia's combination of pace and lethality (both physically and with his disposal), Gysbert's no-fuss smarts that somehow get it done better than the flashy guys.... But Trengove really is a class above everyone on the list, IMO. The only guys that leave me as impressed with their movement are Watts and Jurrah. And they only do it intermittently. As all-round special a player as I've seen at the club, at this stage of his career. -
You are a fair dinkum genius. Mark this thread, and read it with glee over the rest of the season... Cut and paste it too whenever anyone calls you a [censored]. My hat is off to you. Oh... and, um... any thoughts on next week Nostradamus of demonland?

Um. No. Not keep Bailey. Give it a few more weeks. Personally I'd like to see us get past the hump of 8-13-1 from last year. When we show we improved on it, even by just 1 or 2 wins, then I'll be all for us retaining him. Big step in the right direction tonight. There was half a dozen reasons why it was huge... Friday night footy, 5 new kids, big injury list, media speculation getting close to fever pitch, and the biggest thing... Bombers were in many peoples' top 4. The odds were HEAPED against us. And even the bookies agreed. They had us paying 4.50 at 1/2 time. So well done Bails. But his job is a long way from safe just yet.

OH NO!!! Sandi out for who knows how long... Top spot on the ladder up for grabs. HT, just your week.
-
Where Richmond went right is in signing up the right coach.
-
Prefer Bartram.
-
Yup. You win. You've had some shocking luck. I liked seeing a friend who had Polkinghorne. He gave away a free, and then got hurt. So not only did he not get a stat, he actually ONLY helped his opposition. Good win RR, Very good win. snomeD goes to the top of the ladder, and you and I are in a bunch with heaps of other guys.

Can you think of a more ignominious way of getting beaten than NicNat getting the free kick and goal in the last 10 minutes that sinks you? Ouch.
-
Oh man. This isn't gonna end up a draw, is it?
-
Yeah, I think you might get goals and percentage... Kennedy and Darling starting strong. Get both of those, you'll probably get handballs too... And the game is yours.
-
You know you might be right... Roughie's had 7 or 8 at the start of the second quarter. Nicnat will get 15-20... And I have Sandi on his own against Cox. Neck and neck.
-
Who? Getting beaten here Range Rover. I'm not going to be able to look at my car for the next week if I get done...
-
Oh woooow... I've played one extra player and I'm still getting done. Shocking start has you at short odds to beat me here.
-
No. Watch the replay. There was no situation where that was called for. He had time, balance, he saw them... There was no way taking a low percentage snap was the team thing to do. It's not the end of the world, and of course if we weren't nearly 100 points up he never would have done it... But the point remains. Discipline is discipline. He played a good game, so no-one's crucifying him... but that wasn't his greatest moment.
-
How old is Smith? Am I right in suggesting he's 21 or so? Or am I thinking of Dixon?
-
I'd go for Campbell... He knows his way round a footy field. With Juice as a backup... And put some thought into just assuming the ruck will be terrible, and food the team with our best mids to run them off their feet. The one good thing about this is that we're entirely unpredictable. Jamar is our first player picked, but he's been doing it alone for 2 years now... This could be a shakeup the Roos don't see coming.
-
So in one week that's Jamar, Spencer, Fitzpatrick and Martin... IN ONE WEEK?!!! That's ridiculous.
-
End result = Trengove found guilty and receives 325 demerit points, as originally charged by the MRP. He's out for three matches. Bugger.
-
Yeah he was negligent. If you can feel you have the guys supporting arm pinned as well as he did, you let up as you feel him falling. The onus is on the player doing the tackling or bumping to protect his opponent's head. In that sense, I reckon we won't be seeing him for 3 weeks. You never know though. They might lower one of the gradings, make it a 1 weeker or so. Sucks. I have him in dream team.
-
Yeah, I've heard that that's how it works... all you have to do is have someone near you... You catch my drift though. He did get a handy little lift off the shoulder of one of them, but he mistimed it a bit. It was actually pretty funny watching the game on replay and seeing how many simple marks we dropped in the first quarter. It's a thing of beauty on slow mo watching him rise alone above a pack... then he takes his eye of the ball... and somehow loses it. I want to know what counts as pressure acts. But yeah, he's been doing that for a while. Loved the big shiner he must have gotten from training.
-
Ouch. Top of the table clash just about... Game of the round.
-
It was barely contested. As the paper said it was the first ever uncontested pack mark. Let's get him to a 3 goal game first in a one-sided affair. Let alone a 6-7 goal game. Actually let's just hope he gets to the point where he can kick 2 more often.
