  1. Well that's just stupid... And what's more the Sydney game wasn't the only game. The Brisbane game was thrilling to watch too... in fact that was the first time we saw what the side could do. What's more there were other games around this time where we looked potent. Dogs, Crows, Tiges, Port games all ring a bell. The bad news is we're running at 30%.... The GOOD news is WE'RE RUNNING AT 30%!!!! We have, probably, more improvement in us than ANY side in the AFL right now, besides maybe the Saints, Roos and perhaps Crows. When we see that improvement, which we will, we will start to scare a few sides... The best part is we're playing THAT badly and due to our draw, and a bit of luck, it hasn't hurt us in the W/L columns...
  2. Bailey's a genius... He's been slowly working the players into a position to play 4 quarters. He knows the sub rule is going to kill off lists that start the season in 5th gear with their foot flat to the floor, like Essendon and Geelong. Bailey is the Bart Cummings of Aussie Rules. He's going to have the dees up and firing in the middle and latter part of the year where it counts, with a next-to-full list, with plenty of energy, while the other sides wilt under the pressure of the new sub rule... ;)
  3. This site is getting comically ridiculous these days... All good fun though...
  4. Just said this today... we'll get through to the end of week 5 with not a single match-day injury, off the top of my head. I think there was a Davey ankle, and maybe a Garland knee left on the park at some stage in that time, but they went back and found them the following week. And don't worry. Everything that's not typing is touching wood...
  5. Oh jesus... Hang your head in shame. That's true of 90% of draft picks. Hindsight makes everyone a professional. Pointless post. Haven't you been doing this long enough now to know that's ridiculous? Yeah, yeah. Only Dangerfield and Rioli I would have taken ahead, and they had their reasons why they dropped lower. Anyway, tis is true of EVERY pick 4 ever... There's ALWAYS a few players below that turn out to be superstars. We got our bit of luck with Grimes and Tappy... Be thankful we got THAT at least. Operative words there "in your opinion" We do? Says who? According to who? I'll give you this one. I thought McKernan was a star, and is better so far than those kids combined, though Blease (who I've always been sus on) is an unknown entity. But even then, this is the same old hindsight garbage every teenager throws up on bigfooty. For shame Freak, I thought you outgrew this childishness. So what is this thread about? You and "your" predictions that half the site made before you, or is it about a discussion on drafting. Seems to me you're just taking the opportunity to talk about yourself and your own opinions. What? WHAAAAAT?! Fair dinkum you are full of crap. I'm not even going to dignify this with a serious response. ????? SAYS WHO?!! So you're excited about a teenager who's barely out of puberty and hasn't even signed yet. You are relapsing Freak... One of the worst threads of the year for mine.
  6. It's not easy. That's the reason it's so controversial some of the time... Sometimes there's no clear player that deserves to be dropped. And it's just the fact you're quiet that means you play only a 3rd or a 1/4 of a game... I reckon though that in 6 or so rounds a LOT of players would have had their turn as the sub, and can still consider themselves lucky to have played at all.
  7. I've said it a million times... he and Frawley are the two players I have ZERO worry about on the list. He is as polished a player as I've seen at the club. Every time he gets it, he does good things. Born leader. Our own Hayes/Bartel, but better kick.
  8. Didn't hate them.
  9. Don't be such a negative nancy. No-one's claiming it means anything, it just is what it is. We're in the 8.
  10. Not your best work joe... But ok, as usual.
  11. I tell you what. SMASHED me... and Sandi likely out for one or two kills me... Thud. Well coached.
  12. Definitely didn't see this coming at the start of the year. He could easily slot into the full time role if the worst happened. He wouldn't be Jamar, but how busy he is around the ground would hold him in good stead. I still don't like him forward, and I reckon we'll get exposed if he stays there, like we were in the first quarter on Sunday... but everywhere else he's awesome. Can't believe a ruckman can dodge, then bend down to touch the ball on the ground and kick long and accurately to space like he did on the last play of the day... I'm very surprised. But pleasantly so.
  13. Best case scanario? We win by a couple of goals and the media get on our backs... then they train like machines for the bye and come out swinging the the weeks following the game. If we win by 80+, they will go into the week off very satisfied with themselves.
  14. I don't reckon he was THAT bad. Got himself amongst it, which is more than can be said for Maric. How much can you expect from him for only 1.5 quarters?
  15. It's standard practice to pick one of the emergencies to not play ANY footy on the weekend, just in case someone gets sick tomorrow morning, or gets hurt during warmup etc etc... they never play all three emergencies in the VFL. Juice... is on the way to a ton in the VFL. :D If he ever came into the Dees side and did anything, MFC are geniuses.
  16. Morton in for Petterd, against the lions, is a real shame. All Petterd needs is some deilvery to come into the game. I can understand why Morton comes in after such a humiliating loss being caused by the midfield tiring so quickly... but what happens when it goes forward now?
  17. Yeah, as soon as he goes forward and we're under the pump the media will jump on us to "throw Davey back!" And rightly so. In our best wins last year, when we looked like we were getting somewhere, it was Davey's delivery that made it happen. That said, if we can EVER get our midfield right (seems like we've gone backwards so far this year) I'd like to see him spend his post 30 years there. Take over from Green. Maybe just once or twice see him run someone down like the old days.
  18. Already did... It doesn't go through until next round I think,
  19. I see us winning two of those on current form... Maybe sneak one or both of the WC and Kangas games after. Adelaide, no chance.
  20. That's actually the OPPOSITE of the usual behaviour. What would be normal would be accepting the failure...
  21. You can say the same for heaps of players drafted... I reckon Charlie Dixon (yes he's older) looked scarier.
  22. Yup. There's a handful of players in there that aren't in the group Blight's talking about. Sylvia, Moloney, Grimes, Tappy already... We just need more guys who come in, and show what they're capable of for their whole careers. The truly great players do it from very early on. They show what they are from their first season onwards.... And yes. Watts worries me more and more all the time.
  23. Hightower. I can't think of one in your list that makes sense. I could ask for Goodes or Simpson... but you wouldn't go for that. And Waters isn't enough... I can't think of any sweeteners either.
  24. What the hell are you people talking about? When did I say projected rankings govern a player's value?!! Ryder's ACTUAL value is 7... Gray's is... jesus. Who cares, it's not 7!!! The projected and actual coupled together, along with a persons knowledge of the game is what governs choice. In an unusual trade like the Gray Ryder one, why not just get online, and explain that he's the highest ranked forward you could find, and the one most likely to kick accurately and kick more bags?!! How hard is it to comprehend that?!! Even if it is pure fantasy, just say it... and problem solved! As for McKernan, are any of you twits actually seriously thinking I'm gonna trade a forward who's getting plenty of the ball, kicking goals and getting hitouts for anything beyond an ACTUAL ranking of about 80? Get a grip you lot. You all seem to think Jackattack is the genius here, and accept his reasoning... and while I certainly bow to the master, I've been playing this game exactly as long as he has, and understand the vagueries almost as well. Back in your boxes, and have some respect for someone who's only trying to help smooth the way through a tricky minefield... once again... from bitter experience. And robbo... when you have a serious trade, let me know. Otherwise stop wasting my time with your passive aggressive hissy fits.
  25. You don't like detail? Stop making me repeat myself. Rubbish. No-one's gonna attempt a Hayes/Sandi trade. It's the slightly less obvious ones that are the reason the rule applies. I'll say it again. We voted against the rule from bitter experience. If the traders would like to do it again, and explain themselves, then have at it and we can go from there. But I've not seen the explanation. Either it was removed, or enough people voted against it, perhaps BECAUSE there was no explanation. THAT'S all the rest of you need to know. Short enough for you? I would have thought so. Hard to go past all that... AND he's a 22 game player, will probably never be subbed, and is ridiculously consistent. And I think it's possible he may have gotten even better. HA! We'll all have one or two. Fun though, counting down that last stat. I made it this week in a different comp by 3 handballs....
