  1. Steve Irwin is (was) my fourth cousin. Hated him.
  2. Jeez you know what we need? Petrie... that guy's awesome.
  3. Hardly a surprise this, on a demons forum. I think the comparison that interests me in this is more the NicNat, Hurley, Watts one... All talls, all taken first few picks. Nicnat obviously plays a different position. But it's still fascinating. For mine, at the moment Watts has now caught up with Hurley, particularly considering he's quite a lot younger than both those guys... and BOTH Hurley and Watts are marginally ahead of Nicnat who did a few flashy thing ages ago, but has been a quiet achiever since. I think at the end of finals the story will be VERY interesting. Hurley playing for a depleted Dons side might slide further, Watts could monster his team into finals, and Nicnat could actually play a part in a WINNING final. Will be fun to see the scuttlebutt.
  4. I heard he was a [censored] bloke. No this [censored] though. Wow. Well done on the ban too. I'm not one for massive chest beating on this topic, but in the current climate, I like that they handed it out, and that he took it on the chin.
  5. Which bit? The Everitt bit? I think I may have misread. Apologies. But hey, my position on the ladder is flattering me. I'm cooked. The recent Sandi news just made him list clogger for the next 4 weeks. I don't think you can... Yeah, fair enough. I think what you'll find though is that now that teams have settled, everyone has a bunch of players ranked better than 100, and a bunch ranked 200+.. add to that the fact that all the REAL quality (non injury prone) have all found permanent homes, the fact that the AFL's injury lists triple by this time of year... there's no gold to be found in the reserves... Just puts more and more pressure on trading... ONly the desperate (like me) now even think about it, and as a consequence it's weighted WHOLLY in the favour of guys like RR who can pick and choose when and where. The HT example below is the perfect example. He was FORCED to take a punt and gave away some quality that he thought was on the wane (and was proven correct) for McKernan who was looking a million bucks. I almost went for a trade that was worse for me, but ended up grudgingly saying yes when he gave up Simpson because it was weighted in my favour. I had the luxury of doing that because I had a gun team at the time. This would ALL be much easier if the botom four sides were still checking their teams, and still cared about the comp... As usual they have 4-5 GREAT UF players all locked up... For a few weeks there I was living with Jackattack (Ultimate footy was too much pressure though, so I had to move out)... he commented it was trade of the year at the time. If it makes you feel any better, he and I have another comp going with mates, and I kept McKernan in that one. So I feel every week of your pain, believe me. What a stinker he's become. And HT if there was an award for the most entertaining trader, not only would you win it, it would be named after you... How good is it. UF has made me complete disinterested in dream team now.
  6. Amazing the difference those 3 names make. Watts, Martin and Jamar. With them fit and confident we have no reason to fear any team. We may not win every game, but we have the minimum structure in that the team and fans can have some confidence in. Unlike spines with the likes of Bate, Miller etc in them. Still fine players and workers, just a bit patchy.
  7. 14:28 left on the clock to be exact. Good tackle and all. But kind of a let-down after taking so long to find it.
  8. I still can't find it... How much time was left on the clock, just to make it easier...
  9. Well if this aint the pot calling the kettle black. At this time of year it's nearly impossible to get a trade going. I would offer to take Goldstein off your hands, but I wouldn't go for something that ridiculous since you're obviously not mentally impaired in any way. However when you offer me McKintosh who hasn't played a game this year, who will have to play second fiddle to a guy who will likely be on the AA bench this year IF he plays... for Deledio, one of only a few backs who are ranked in the top 100... and you don't call yourself greedy?!!! There's nothing "win/win" about that... There's a reason you don't trade when you're up the business end of the ladder. If I were RR (and I was in the first 10 rounds) I'd be sitting back and chuckling. Why change your list when you're smashing everyone!!!
  10. We've actually not yet proven we've improved. We have a MUCH easier draw... and at the moment are 2 wins away from last years total. Not forgetting we have 2 easy wins pencilled in this year we didn't have last year in the GC games. I think 10-1-11 would be on par with last year, and 11-1-10 will beat it, and also will get us a finals berth and a peaceful off season. So to get that we're going to have to beat Dogs and Port in the next 3 weeks... then brace for the month of hell where we won't snaffle a win... Then hold fast for the last 3 weeks where we'll need to do what we did 5-6 years ago and win every game to make it. We can do it, but pinching one off one of West Coast, Carlton, Geelong and Hawthorn would make it a HUGE chance.
  11. Shuffling deck chairs. The only rucks worth taking at this stage aren't available. All my eggs were in the Sandi basket... Gonna be tough to eke out a finals win now. As in 2 players? Let me have a look. :D
  12. Jayceebee... Sandi couldn't just get me 1 or 2 more hitouts? That is a TOOOUGH loss for me. And now he's gone for the year, I think... Ouch. Well played though, deserve a place in the top 4. Dappadan on a HUGE slide... My finals aspirations in tatters. Big Dappadan shaped hole in the 8 waiting for OMR, HT, rpfc...
  13. Petterd's call is all out of whack. I thought he was in a LOT of the game, just fluffed disposal too often. Looks like he's enduring a bit, but doing all of the hard stuff you can do when you're out of touch.
  14. Really, really great turnaround today. He doesn't need much to get back into form does he? I think he might have had close to 20 touches playing further up the ground and was lurking or doing chasedowns all day, as well as the sealer at the end. Impressed.
  15. I'm actually more concerned about the WC game later in the year. There'll be no crowd, we'll probably need the win to stay in touch after a horror month, AND to make matters worse we might have had a chance at the G, but will likely get smashed by a very, very good Eagles side, to end our year.

    NFL

Mick the [censored] is the reason I follow the NFL now. Watching him from a Hooters in Miami monster the redskins, and then create the miracle at the new meadowlands... One of the most amazing things I've seen in sports. Maybe not quite the best footballer in the NFL, but I reckon the best overall athlete.
  17. Oh God, please no... He's appalling. Bruce drags Commetti down with him. Dennis is hands down the best we've had, and likely the best we're gonna see for a long time. Grybas is sorely missed too. Hudson and Commetti for mine. The old heads need to go. BT is probably going to be round for another few decades.
  18. Smart move? ONLY move I think you'll find. Highest rated forward left on the scrapheap. Jesus H Christ. Mitchell 38 touches, Birchall 26 to half time (ended with 33 and 12 marks), you even had the best bomber out there, Stanton with 31 touches and 2 goals. Bloody hell. FINALLY the door swings ajar.
  19. Collingwood on Grand Final day... MUCH more fun to watch them beaten by either a point, or by 100.
  20. Makes total sense to me. We have lacked endeavour in many cases this year. Toiges haven't under Hardwick. I'd be tipping them if I didn't know better. :D Interestingly though, did you notice that most of the tipsters who went for the dees are at the BUSINESS end of their tipsters' ladder? Interesting. :D Besides. If Cam Smith tips us, I'll tip us.
  21. Has been excellent. Eared his spot for next year.
  22. See, that's where I think the furphy is. This whole idea he has elite skills is one too. If he's tall, why doesn't he play tall? Or ever use that height even to bring the ball to ground? His height in this way is useless. His kicking is supposed to be amazing, and it CAN be over distances up and over 40 metres, but anything less and this supposedly elite kick misses it's mark HORRIBLY to the opponent's advantage way too often. The only ace he has in the hole that I see him utilising at the moment is his elite endurance, which he's putting up against the big runners in the comp. Ideally I'd like to see him take Dunn's role of that negating forward who takes rebounding defenders out of the game, but can turn around and kick 4 himself at the flick of a switch. Or if he EVER bulks up, to be an Embley type. He's miles off it at the moment though.
  23. Disagree, but I think the footy department would agree with you, so I think in the end you'll be proven right. What's a huge positive is that in his short stint he earned his spot. The not-so-great flipside there is that any time any ruck plays a bad one, the fans will be screaming for some Gawn, when in reality he's about 4 years away from being a 22-round player. Love him already though.
  24. Dee man got it in one. I reckon he should have been subbed last week, but around the time the choice was being made, Garland had his issue. If he's having an off day, you generally know by half time.
  25. Actually it's Morton. :D
