Colin Sylvia- Complaints, Congratulations and Comments
w00dy replied to Don24's topic in Melbourne Demons
You've been holding him back for years Yze_Magic... Always constantly pumping him up, now you've finally jumped off, and look what happens... Please for Col's sake, just let the boy play... -
no doubt she was attractive, she was just her brother's sister, that's all...
-
True, but every other draftee is a poor example when compared to Jack... Jack is the only one on that list who was still at high school, who therefore hasn't done all the training... Now you might have gotten away with a limited pre-season like that 10 years ago, but with the pace of the game the way it is now there's no way you would get away with it...

Are you going to feel bad for Terry Wallace if the Dees win?
w00dy replied to james1977's topic in Melbourne Demons
made his own bed... fact is he's stuffed up the Richmond footy club, the position they're in, with the way the draft is going to run... the sooner he's out of there the better for Richmond IMO -
You only had to look at her to know that was his sister... Throw Jack in what she was wearing and you couldn't tell them apart! Not sure that's a good thing though...

I made the trek down to Casey today too... Took me almost an hour and a half to get there from the CBD (should've used Citylink)... Anyhow, I got there right on 4.00 and caught the first bounce for the reserves. My report on Jack... Pretty quiet in the first, although his goal assist was great... He went in for a hard ball, got the ball but was tackled, the ball spilled, and he just flicked it up to a teammate with his boot, who went on to goal... Very much like Marty Clarke for Collingwood on Friday night for those who saw it... Was a very smart bit of play... Right on quarter time he made a lead, the delivery was poor prompting him to wait for the ball, his opponent managed to fist the ball away, but you could see he positioned himself well and gave himself every chance to win the contest... As the game went on he got better... Looked good in traffic, got his first goal... Took a couple of contested marks... For those who have seen his youtube videos he just reads the flight of the ball so much better than most... Also pushed up the ground a bit, especially when Casey weren't winning much of the footy... He managed to provide a target up on the wing when the ball wasn't coming forward... Was pretty quiet in the last, but Casey were smashed in the last term... Plus it was his first hitout, he was bound to be tired, given he only spent about 5 minutes each quarter on the bench... Wheels definately was hurt, he limped out of the rooms at half time, they wrapped ice to his thigh and that was his day... lets hope it's only a Corkie... did well in the first half, was playing on ball, took a hanger, looked good... I watched the first half of the seniors... Very scrappy football, it was like the intensity and pressure was at AFL level, but the skills were at VFL level... What I saw pretty much echos what people have been saying the last couple of weeks. Maric looks a class above, his pace and skills are his assets... He had the ball out on the wing, looking for a teammate to handpass too. When none were forthcoming he evaded about 5 Port tackles from 3 different players before he dished the ball off. Was very impressive. Valenti is Valenti, fantastic VFL footballer... Jurrah definately has that X factor... Saw him go up for a hanger, run like the wind and kick one out on the full, and chase Port players with the footy for about 40 metres trying to lay a tackle... Definately has all the tools, just needs to learn how to put them together... Was most impressed by his pace, he's lightening for a player his size... Robbo looked lively, not much supply... Took his regulation hanger... Not too far away from the AFL... I think I'm still thawing out from the cold... One more thing, I think Cranbourne has to have the most Red Roosters per capita anywhere in Australia... I drove in via Berwick-Cranbourne Rd, and home via South Gippsland Hwy... Between the two routes, before I got back on the freeway I saw 4 Red Roosters... Astounding

does anyone think the death of Sam Allica will have an impact on the team this week? They all would've attended his funeral on Wednesday... He was obviously extremely well loved around the club... They'll be wearing black armbands against Richmond... It's the type of thing that could get the boys pretty fired up, to make Sam proud... It could not be a factor at all, hard to tell from the outside looking in... Will have to wait and see on Sunday...
-
i'm astounded Addam hasn't been selected... Really thought Bartram was going to be dropped this week... I guess we'll find out tomorrow night if Maric lines up at Casey or not... on a positive note, McMahon has come back into the Richmond side... surely this can only be a good thing...
-
correct... and when the squad was finalised as a team of 22, junior was left out of this team...
-
get your kleenex out then, to be honest I don't think he'll play a full game... expect him to play a half or so... if he kicks a couple that'd be a great return...
-
they had Robbo on nine news tonight, and he was talking about how Watts would play his first game this week... was talking about how they jokingly call him "The Saviour" around the club... will be interesting if that name sticks...

Richmond playing proficient kickers in forward line vs Dees!!
w00dy replied to DangerousDemon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think you've just explained why Richmond are so bad. They've never had a chance if their coach sets up his forward line to counter the likes of "Clint Bartram" -
I'm pretty sure Cheney is in the gun... Needs to be more accountable... Go back to Casey to work on it... Petterd can play up forward, and down back as Cheney does.
-
correct weight... this is how I think we'll line up, with players in their proper positions... Backs: J.Bennell, M.Warnock, J.Rivers Half backs: J. Frawley, S. Martin, A.Davey Centreline: B.Green, L.Dunn, C.Bruce Half forwards: C. Morton, B.Miller ,C.Sylvia Forwards: N.Jetta, M.Newton, M.Bate Followers: J.Meesen, B.Moloney, B.McLean I/C From: P.Johnson, N.Jones, R.Petterd, A.Maric EMG: C.Bartram, K.Cheney, J.Spencer Dunn the only one to play as a tagger... With Juice in the team, it means Miller can play at Centre Half Forward and give us something to kick to across that half forward line... Something we've really lacked the last 3 weeks...
-
i've got deledio... considered trading him considering his poor start, but I'm going to stick fat... the tigers have had 2 of the 4 best sides in the comp thus far, and a carlton who played like they were a top 4 side in their match as well... out of those 3, Judd or Dal Santo... Dal Santo doesn't need much of the footy to score well in supercoach... also considered our own Flash? going to rack up a lot of points across half back this year... been racking up around 120 a week in that position so far... I'm bleeding he's not in my side...
-
this will be his first game of footy for over 6 months... keep your eye out on thursday when the teams are named, as he may only play in the 2's... if they don't want him playing a full match, I have no doubt this will be the case...
-
In: Maric, McDonald Out: Cheney, Jetta like for like essentially... Sylvia stays in as we need a marking target up across centre half forward... If Robbo is ready then he comes in for Sylvia... Everyone is calling for PJ's head, but the fact is Spencer isn't going to be much better, so lets give PJ another couple of chances to come good... Don't want to play two completely inexperienced ruckman... When Russian is back then we can look at it again, but till then PJ plays... Maric's form demands selection, and while Jetta did some good things, he's not up to AFL standard just yet... He weighs less than 70kg! As for Cheney, I think he was lucky to play this week, with only Junior's injury keeping him in the side. Needs to go back to Casey and learn to be accountable. Dunn didn't have a great game, but needs more than one week. He's been a favourite of mine, but he's going to be a player, along with others like Daniel Bell who will be playing for their career this season... We need to give them a decent chance this season to prove he deserves to stay on our list come season's end.
-
i think we need to try a few different things with Col... perhaps give him a tagging job for a couple of weeks, let him run with some class midfielders to learn how hard he needs to work to play in the midfield... he won't be able to go all day, but give him some spells there and see if he learns a few things... the other option is to play him on a half back flank... he looked good at half back, when he played there for a little bit last season... put him there and see how he goes... correct weight... it was a shocking draft... lets hope this years draft isn't as bad
-
good call, has a similar tank to richo... i don't want to see him play as a genuine centre half forward, but he needs to be able to drift forward often and provide another target... with a little more weight on him and his height, he'll be very hard to match up on...
-
ha, yeah, big challenge for him at the centre bounces... i should clarify what I meant and say that meesen's running ability will hopefully make the Port ruckman a little more accountable around the ground... the last 2 matches Macintosh and Fraser just ran off him, paid him no respect, and they really hurt us... hopefully the meese can pose enough of a threat to make them somewhat accountable...
-
good to see the Meese selected, hopefully we won't be exposed in the ruck too much this week like we have been in the past...
-
the fact is that Lockyer towelled him up... if he's dropped it's not because of his ball winning ability, it's because he needs to be more accountable...
-
they're in the squad, not in the team... all 7 from the squad are named in the scorpions team, however only the three who miss out for melbourne will play for casey... standard every week...
-
I'll take the coaching staff's word for it that they want some more miles in his legs... as for the extended bench, i think it could be a total shakeup, with Jones the only certainty to play... I wouldn't be surprised to see them bring the Meese in, he had a good game for Casey by all reports, and Spencer didn't set the world on fire last week... PJ may have had a bad game, but at this stage he's still miles ahead of Spencer or Meesen so he won't be dropped... as for the others, Cheney got smashed by Lockyer, so may be sent back to the twos to learn to be accountable... Jetta was quieter than his debut... those boys have been given a taste, I think Bails may let them head back to Casey and work on their game... how I think the team will look (with players in their correct positions), however the bench is quite hard to pick and any of them could play... Backs: J.Bennell, M.Warnock, J.Rivers Half backs: J. Frawley, S. Martin, A.Davey Centreline: B.Green, J.McDonald, C.Bartram Half forwards: B.Moloney, M.Bate, C. Morton Forwards: R.Petterd, B.Miller, C.Sylvia Followers: P.Johnson, C.Bruce, B.McLean I/C From: J.Meesen, N.Jones, L.Dunn, N.Jetta
