  1. Watts done is done and cant be undone , only the moment you live in is influential by design. Im prepared to leave watt was watt and move to today and here we see a player happy to play footy. Thats a positive. I and some others here who have had the faith ( though severely tested at times ) always thought it was nearly always going to be about how he (JW) perceived his place in things. Once he was not only comfortable with that but could see he was more than capable to take the potential of what lay ahead full on and not blink, then and only then , he would perform to his belief and our expectations. No point reliving past pain we move on
  2. Yes I read that and thought... hmmmmmmm , all thats required is to get substantiation of Beta 4 being in play here and its goodnight !! Raises the ante from a drug being in the sorta grey zone though blanket covered in its not approved cat to a drug specifically known and banned for performance enhancing. What a juicy can of worms we have. tic tic tic
  3. we were definitely playing a better thinking game and by that I infer horses for courses and not a regimented locked in mindset
  4. Money alone isnt the answer unless they uprate our salary cap ala swans etc.
  5. is that 20 goals 11 to 20 goals 12 ?? lol
  6. and they reckon I'm cynical !!! you are of course right
  7. The reality is KM doesnt bat a 100%, no one does. Its a bit of a call , for mine , lauding him as such off the back of kiddie games only. Have no doubt that Boyd may be pretty good but then many a 1st pick nominee has had a lot of unwarranted heraldry about them . From the limited Ive seen ...and that means TV /internet for Boyd and Training /Internet/TV and a couple of Casey visits for Hogan I would think the Hulk has it. Theres a better footy brain inside Jesse whilst the Boyd has a big footprint on a game I dont think he has that certain panache. Boyd is a big fish in little ponds currently. Hogan is tearing it up in the deeper water. Many a pundit have Boyd as plug and play. Im not so sure, still would need an education. We can all discuss this with 100% vision say, this time next year
  8. I know....I know....shame on the Bub What was I thinking !!! As Old would have it....off to the corner !!!
  9. Yeah, I wouldnt be in a rush to trade both. What we should remember is that all these wonderfully able Mids did originally come from somewhere in a draft, and not always the sharper end. They are there and lthey require development. Granted not our forte for some whiles but we do seem to have gotten a little better. if we could trade for someone half way decent and also use a selection to bring a potential into the fold then that would be my preference. But im only an amateur at this and I think theres been more than a few at the club of recent times so maybe my input is worth nada lol
  10. I would consider that also but have a sneaking suspicion there may be caveats to any PP's.. On that basis our pick 3 is all 'ours" sts
  11. I think the papers were actually in the top drawer of a desk, just couldnt remember which one Thought he get to that one of those 'tomorrows'
  12. I keep hearing rumours we are going "somewhere" maybe one day. kind of a theme to our situation isnt there.. Somewhere, One day, next year, next-best-thing on the horizon.....lol we ought to be sponsored by the Munyanna Corporation
  13. If NC is on a par with other select choices he automatically becomes the cheapest option. Might come into play , might not
  14. Just as a hypothetical. We're given a PP it pick 1 lets assume current ladder positions re draft picking remains same . So we would have 1 3 21 etc Lets go with the outside notion that GWS may indeed trade pick 2 ....do we also trade pick 3 ? We/ve got one...we can grab the best mid.. Pick 3 in some sort of trade may deliver another of reasonable ability We have forwards...we've a few lol. its mids we crave who would trade 3. I would, for the right reward
  15. Hogan will be good to go day 1. Dawes is progressing. Am I the only one with concerns about Clark ? Geez we can pick them. Immense talent and a first class spectator in the main to date . But if hes on the ground next year then with Watts we have a potent front end. Howe will move more to a midfield role more and more but ability to play deep and hurt. Id keep Watts. but to humour the notion of a trade...who would it be. It somewhat amuses me that everytime something like this is mooted theres some underlying assumption that theres a shelf full of these A grade Mids who not only are on the market but would come to us. Ive really no problem with trades etc, they are all widgets in the greater scheme of things but you really have to ask, just when Watts is coming good, and with another pre season and revision to his role a-la new coaches whomever youd want to swap for would need to be pretty bloody good. Again, where are they and I dont mean youre second stringers...I mean these A grade midfielders that everyone speaks of. Youd want about the same life expectancy out of the trade as you will have of Watts i.e another 5-6 years. This means whomever is the target is unlikely to be a FA or even a RFA so theyd need to be convinced to leave wherever for the 'cellar dwellers' Just once id like to see a little reality creep in to expectations and such when comes talk of ambit trading etc. With FA anyone decent will go to the money or finals opportunities. If there was one thing Neeld did well it was to look beyond the fence. granted what was there wasnt always flash but there are players worth considering and for a lot less than giving up a #1 pick just when hes ripening. Thats my view on that. I may be alone edit . Yes I realise some aspects of referencing FA is redundant but its the knock on effect. If a star leaves as a FA then the next best thing is often elevated in esteem etc at that club and becomes even more valuable and it would be these that somehow are available for trading ??
  16. old..When ROOS comes forward and says,,, No , nada, nyet Then we have something to consider as a direction. Anything til then is just guesswork irrespective of whom utters it. Its no more than his opinion. I mean, no one in this sport has ever changed minds, ever misdirected etc etc. Do I need to go on ? Nothing IS, until it IS currently we have the 'nothing'
  17. information, disinformation , misinformation Remember rule #1 of the media " when any real news doesnt exist, make it up !! "
  18. Whatever we get we better make 100% use of it for we will never revisit this scenario again. This is our last leg up. it may well be someone else's turn next time. I actually like Reds idea of just giving us a queue jumping first pick and nothing else. Only really effects GWS. ( and not much ) All else essentially the same. I like a mini draft but am starting to wonder the design of it and how it would work. If like previous then its real value is beholding upon who is tradable for a pick. In fact any scenario suggesting a pick is tied to a trade has its real value established by the 'filed of possible talent WANTING to move " Any ideas that this club or that club will automatically hand over anyone (or combo ) for a pick etc is really just fanciful. But in thinking about the #1 pick option its possible then that the AFL would come under massive fire for draft tampering by the other 17 clubs. In some ways the easier option is simply a PP as the precedent is there. Not that I have a headache from all of this but its particularly murky waters here lol
  19. Of course theres a Santa and our Xmas will come about Sep !!
  20. To me also. I would have thought it likely we'd receive an 'indication" as to the open-ness to this request but delay any actual gifting til seasons over and they can re-evaluate the lay of the footy political world. But thats only my view...lol
  21. ever heard the expression...Dont do as I do , do as I say ? lol
  22. As I see it there are two elements to this. 1) the giving ...or not of draft assistance and 2) the nature and priority of it. without a yes to 1 , 2 is moot, but even with a yes there are a myriad of options the league has. Like just about all of this it will be the EOS before any findings/announcements imho
