  1. History seems to support the notion that when a player leaves to gain a better contract, longer and higher remunerations then the compo is better favoured. When they just leave , which is essentially the case with Sylvia...it doesnt seem to favour the club left quite as well.
  2. thats true.. pumping the tyres. We arent taking too many tricks lately.
  3. Col has gone chasing glory. 3 years on similar coin to what we were paying/ prepared to pay. He hasnt gone for a fortune. Has low achievements to support a good case on compo. Band 3 will be luxurious. Wouldn t count on it though
  4. Aye, thats the reality of it. Hopefully we do though
  5. Roos was pretty certain we were up for a PP.. Funny how it doesnt always pan out .
  6. its about the onward contract value for compo...not what anyone WAS on. Whilst he(cs) was undoubtedly in the top25% pay at Melbourne he achieved little really in the Bluey and goes on to a mediocre contract at Freo. Not that much to crow about etc. I think many will be disappointed. It may well be why some trades have stalled. Clubs waiting to see what the REAL outcomes of compos are before dealing.. you'd be mad not to.
  7. RPFC by any other logic it can be shown that the AFL has scant regard for precedent... if they had...we'd have a PP right now. We dont
  8. Cant assume anything theses day TBF. Red didnt even mention them !!
  9. you think...stop there...You DONT know Arguments can be made for a variety of outcomes but only one counts....the whim of the AFL...and they really have our back dont they. you know nothing...you are assuming.. edit Not having a go per se but whilst the arguments all look good , there has been shown little rhyme or reason in past rulings by Vlad Inc. i.e no consistency. I would put it that many(here ) place far more value in Col than the market and the AFL actually do. He was a cheap pick up by Freo, thats the reality of it.
  10. I think a few are in for a disappointment here also.
  11. Strangely I would have thought exactly the opposite it all but cements it. If he anoints a successor in 12 months it WILL take longer than a year to bring them on. Roos isnt going to want to undercook anyone or his legacy will be in jeopardy possibly. All that for nought !! cant see that being the case. Im actually glad we havent rushed into this. Im glad that we will have at least one year where the focus of the senior coach is to do just that and only that. Both eyes on the game and not one mentoring his new charge. There is no doubt we smell more Eau de Toilet than Toilette at present !! And thats fine. Once this train kicks off and starts gathering speed we will have enquiries made of us not the other way around. People will want to join our bandwagon. Go Dees
  12. Were bananas suitably represented amongst the desserts ? Or even as the main cake ?
  13. The underlings are all but irrelevant...foot soldiers.. they can be anyones really..So again.. We arent really missing that much yet.
  14. Robbie F...be prepared to be boggled then.. Sydney had far more clout than we have come the trade table.. We are going to have to pay overs to some degree. Unpalatable yes....a reality...also YES.
  15. probably the same bloke that floated it on the trade-talk...blog. A fanciful imagination I think
  16. ripped off big time...lol
  17. Craig was an effective luxury..there to supplement Neeld... It was thought we were light on in the FD so we went bezerk employing "line assistants" , high end water boys, and boy scout brigades to tie and untie boots. WOW big success all round !! often you have 2-3 stat and IT ppl and we have them. Possibly all we are really missing, ( if at all atm ) is the bloke that slots in just under Roos and above the other 3 .
  18. ffs what do some ppl want with picks ? We've got a 2nd rounder, we may get another for Hi-ho .we have to use them. We WILL pay overs this year and maybe until we're seen as legitimate. You can only deal in the market as it IS, not how you may LIKE it to be. Utterly no point getting stroppy and us ending up with 6 picks and nothing really injected into the team. We're building. we're starting from low. it WILL take a number of years before we can be super clever about the WHO of what we get. Also keep in mind we arent the only team who has to pay overs atm to get anyone. We arent in isolation here. Its like any property market..Sometimes supply and demand dot make it easy. Sometimes whats on offer doesnt always gel with your expextations. Its then up to you to decide whether it will do the job for a period of time before you can uptrade etc We arent going to fix all our ills in one preseason. We just need to get a bit competitive and build upon that.
  19. Either GWS buckles...or we get a newby.. and we move on
  20. So lets assume Allison up front, Matthews in middle , Rawlings - defence Supposedly Stone to development...Frosty apprentice role ? not much left
  21. you would think both Crows and Messendon to be keen to do ' reasonable ' trades to get in. Like us they'll have to pay overs somewhat to get back into the game. Tis was it is !!
  22. sorry...tis monday...havent had 3rd coffee yet , my bad
  23. We're like someone with a bad credit rating. Yes you can still buy or borrow but you will pay through your nose until you get some legitimacy back in your game. We need to do what ever we need to do RIGHT NOW in order to get back into the game. 2014 , 2015 etc will have their own opportunities, draft picks trades etc. We simply have to work with what we've got for now. Work within your means , then expand your means !!
  24. just answered your own question
