An aspect to Hogans play Im just salivating to watch is his pushing forward to get into the game and he doesnt mind wheeling around immediately and moving the ball quickly. This ought to be an interesting experience for Melbourne Dawes in space is hard to beat. Going to be fascinating watching the synergy develop between these two ( hopefully )

well there is that...granted. I do wonder , seriously though, how much of the hesitancy and accompanied anywhere but fwd play is as a direct result of inadequate paths to goal. Not to say Dawes is that but hes only one. Get Hogan there and theres suddenly a couple of handy avenues. This might play on the psyche of the players. who knows, its conjecture without doubt but I think it carries some reality.

it was my thinking Jesse likes to roam and engage the game. if Dawes was left idling and cruises the HFL with a lesser light on his tail. Other teams might find this awkward.

I think Dawes is trying to accomplish too much out of a view that he needs to step up and drag others along. In doing so hes not getting it quite right often ( but sometimes....woohoo ) Get Jess on the park and Dawes gets a different minder. Things might pick up some

Strangely Paul disagrees with you. Thought it was unacceptable . He thought it diabolical. Half way through 2nd qtr we were 6 goals down from all but one way traffic. It's not so much the outcome...a 6 pt loss that worries many, its the wavering appetite for the game some of our players are showing. (typos)

Nasher...dont put words where they arent. I went to the meaning of Cull which I think is objective. You want to go the emotive road which I think is subjective. I go to the size and nature of the list 're-management' and you suggest a public ridicule. Hows the Straw business these days...good crop ? Further .. I suggest theres that number 16 -ish...but its practically unlikley more than 10 or so could be re-newed . But its entirely possible 12 or so might/could be if the contractual status suited and the desire was there.

Without getting too cute id actually argue what we need is indeed a Cull and not some gentle trimming of the list. The nature of the use of cull goes to the notion of it being very calculated, unswerving and not too caring of the culled' future as it were. You get like this when enough is enough. I think cull is apt given that there is apt to be a quasi wholesale nature about it. If you were to compare our list to that of say a top 4 team thered be but a handful youd retain. Lower the sights a tad and compare to top 8 and theres in or around a couple of dozen that you would think able to sustain our future and make significant contributions. That leaves space of around 15-16 players that really arent at/or likely to attain that level of AFL competitiveness to warrant a paycheck ( from us ). cull (kl) tr.v. culled, cull·ing, culls 1. To pick out from others; select. 2. To gather; collect. 3. To remove rejected members or parts from (a herd, for example). n. Something picked out from others, especially something rejected because of inferior quality. The given meanings above point to exactly what will transpire in my thinking. Culling can also suggest a selection of a larger number than natural process. Again thats what needs to happen. We arent looking at a small top up or introducing 1 or 2 to maintain a status quo we're looking at a quantum leap. Ill stick by the notion of Cull thankyou

Does really and Im surprised that many of the affected ( players ) cant see that Mack truck looming. I can only imagine the FD's magicians and conjurers are busy working on plans and schemes to lure the unloved and disaffected to their new home

strangely...I share that faith. I'm impressed that hes a down to earth realist. I expected no smoke nor mirrors. Im not sure what I expected in respect to him buying in but I saw a very disappointed Demon front that presser and hes not happy. I dare say he's as much one of us as he can be. I think he's gobsmacked as to how large a portion of our list is just not up to it ( AFL ) Some he knows feels) he can persevere with and the realisation that quite a few are just not going to be the ones going forward I think is making him more resolute to indeed find a way. He makes no excuses. Im a little taken back by his self efacing humility. He has a strong ego this man but not ruled by it. Meantime it's of little comfort to watch some of the tripe offered up. But yes, we just about snatched it . We were foolish to give any team nearly a half's start. We really dont have enough of the right cattle. This will change.
