Put discussion of ability and skills aside for the moment. I suggest there are essentially two distinct types of players ( some marginals between , but tin the main ) Those that when push comes to shove put all care aside and will step up for the fight. There are the others who just want it over as they ave internally capitulated , even if they still show outward signs of playing. Its just going through the motions til the relief of the siren releases them from that day's torment. There is no doubt frustration especially amongst some of the players that not all share their boldness, the never give in , their dare-do-well. I seriously reckon as a training exercise , stuff the altitude but go back to the military SAS style camp and see who comes out on which side. Those that show poorly, get rid of. They will NEVER be there when you need them.

Was the pact a Pinky Promise or the verve of youth ? Things change !!

Not sure where I am on this as there are positives. For both players it would be a reboot, new club, fresh start. I would say Watts has more skill but Levi isnt afraid to use his body and take a game on. He's just inconsistent, but so is JW..lol Interesting you raise a swap with Calrton as Micky Mouse obvious has a thing for jackie. Casboult would slip into our fwd line and make for an interesting addition. Not sure what Smaltz would do with Jack in terms of their set up. Throw in a draft upgrading pick swap....Id consider it.. Psych evaluation required though

already more miles in the tank...further developed...More instant effect. Same reason we traded for Tyson
-
But this begs the question ( in my minds view) What if a club expresses interest in Watts and IS prepared to offer something . That might be straight pick, trade , trade and pick, trade pick upgrades etc etc. I would think the club would listen to a serious offer, its just not advertising a fire sale and why would you.

yep...its all "THEIR" fault...even if Essendon may have done a few things wrong...it's everyone else at fault, apparently. -

The Social Litigator:The Law Weighs In: Closing Submissions in Essendon v ASADA trialA bit of light reading to accompany your WeetBix this morning. No one's game to call it. What is definite though is we'll be the laughing stock of world sport and pariahs if ASADA don't prevail -
please dont ever mention Watts and Flower in same post as though one was entitled to do up the others laces. Robbie Flower happily engaged a contest, put body on the line tackled effectively and rarely fell over Watts has ability , Flower is a legend Flower would have played 300 but for injuries....most incurred in body on body football Flower was exceptionally skilled and had more bravado as a player than nearly most. His tackles stuck btw Ask many a player of RF era who was their most difficult opponent.RF gets a big vote. Cant imagine ANYONE suggesting JW Flower took on the game..Something JW could emulate

All the while its about procedure not substance What about the tb4 Little ?? -
I can discuss him, I can debate him, I can ascribe a value /currency...and do.. As you at least acknowledge its part and parcel of an opinion. If you bother you can find the aspects I do give credence to as well as those I ( and many others ) don't,but its not necessary.. You are correct in that I for the most part view players dispassionate as i see nothing in doing otherwise. They are participant of the game , in our jumper , only as long as it suits them or us ( MFC) I have no intention of being matey with them ,I have no desire to manifest any joy or such vicariously via them , they are effectively players in a game of chess; nothing more , nothing less. I appreciate fine football and loathe imposters on the field. I base much of my ideas on a single notion. That by the time you are selected to play in our jumper, representing our club in the highest league of this game that you can at least demonstrate a mastering of its basic skills. Back to Jack...When he demonstrates more ++++ than ------- then we as a group will probably highlight them. He has some currency, he has abilities and has truckloads of potential but he's a liability if he cant bring it to the games.

The Social Litigator's take on Day 3 get a wine , a beer.....bottle !! sit back and read -
If Watts plays out of sight in a fashion with most genuine defenders concerning themselves with the 'nominated' forwards.. Dawes, Hogan , Pedersen perhaps and co then Watts does have the ability and nouse to be able to bring the ball into the arc and use it constructively.

This Howe bloke seems to know his stuff. Think this is the opportunity ASADA have been waiting for all along. edit Howe loading up the Judge with lots of HOMEWORK, lol , reading regarding relevant aspects of WADA, conventions etc etc to have a look at ( at his leisure ) prior to direction. -
If ever a position he might do well in is this , and many here have said so for years.. as a high HFF /winger come switch play/ link specialist. Strangely a role we hoped another ex Dee might have taken by the scruff of its neck

So Mr Mclachlan.....do you think Essendon might have crossed that line and brought the sport into disrepute ?? Got any 'remedies' for that ? -

They well might. I suspect this is all about time , well a large component. I cant see Drugs Inc getting far in Sep even if allowed. But its an aside to what really happens that being the constraints on ASADA are released to reissue SCN if required and that will weigh heavily upon the players. I actually hope they dont start their penalties til after the season proper. They'll be up to their necks in merde -

The AFL were trying to play cute with this all the way along. They walked a fine line and fell off. That's not specifically ASADAs fault (imho) -

As a lay person I sense much revolves on this. But then I also think it goes to intent....of ASADA not the AFL. As AA said rightly she can not say what the AFL were thinking or going to do. If the AFL stepped out of bounds thats down to them surely. a little perhaps like guns... its the shooter not the manufacturer. Whilst its quite likely a gun owner might shoot someone else is it the fault of Smitth & Wesson etc -

It was mentioned by ASADA and not argued down by anyone ( that i saw ) that the AFL could have effectively written the "Interim Report" themselves. -
My concern regarding any development in Watts is that it just doesn't turn into a "Waiting for Goddard" !!

All this reminds me of driving...where you're going along only to be overtaken recklessly by a nutter who all but misses the oncoming only to arrive at that red light 5 secs before you do. They however have thought to be in the 'fast lane" and expect a quick exodus only to be stalled by the car in front of them suddenly indicating to turn right. i.e a lot of fuss for nothing -

Do you possibly think like myself that the ESS/Hird camp were happy for AA to be on the receiving end as it might have been hoped she may slip up, even in error , and offered something to run with. ?
