The Run Home
Very interesting...in a way... but to be honest it makes not an iota of difference. I mean no disrespect. I simply observe every meeting ( game ) has its own dynamics and thats supposed upon any number of ifs buts maybes . Its about as predictable as the bounce of our belived ball. It ought to do A...but the minute you bank that..it wont. The very best of odds brokers have very elaborate algorithms to predict outcomes. Invariably across a round they come out ok, but that in and of itself doesn't address the aberrations. Its just that they're covered. No one's won from fourth does not prevent anyone from doing so as immediately someone does the algorithms, narratives and predictions accommodate. I still stand by my coin analogy as its applicable. At any contest any number of variables comes into play. They can not be pre-ordained . The outcome is dependent upon 36 individuals at any given time... the influence of 6 others...the weather...and not forgetting...the ball. How does statistical analysis integrate and interpret any of that. A fair question might be..does it have to ?. Does not overviews smooth over irregularities? In a perfect environment the normal allowances prevail. Is a game of footy so perfect, so precise, so normal that standard deviations can exist or be applied ? I don't know, tbh. I look at statistics..and associated predictions in the same light i do stock market charts.. they are actually very similar..especially in terms of how derived. Both work off history... but history is neither finite or constrained. Anything can happen because so many variables are volatile. Ive asked chartists to lay money down on their prescience...strangely none do . They just love their charts...their lines.. their hypothesis... and when something untoward, unusual happens..their charts change..their narrative changes.. There's a classic line often... " no one's done that before ". The strangeness of that to me is not that ut happened...but that supposedly it couldn't. The minute it does...all mathematics agrees. Why...because nothing is finite. This year 4th can win. Why ? Well why not. Knock yourselves out folks..do the table predictor...do the finals scenarios. Its entirely possible. Actually not only possible...it may be the best place to finish....THIS year...for THESE teams.

The thing about Clarry... his handball ( so encompassing action ) is lightning quick. Hard to judge him by "normal" metrics ..imo

There is none...and the reality is the stats mean nothing going forward. What you have is a pictorial account for what has transpired. Not what will/might. Is exactly the same as 49 coin tosses ..all heads. Whats the likelihood ( outcome) of the next toss ?

I have a suspicion there are a couple of very different camps as to what is actually ideal over the next few weeks. I'm in the camp that looks at the finals as a different game. You want to be in good nick, have as few injuries as possible...have some genuine form...but have plenty in the tank as September is draining. Also that last week is the prize....not the next couple of games. Im not suggesting taking foot off the pedal nor am i suggesting putting it to the metal. I want us to arrive at week one in prime condition. Id also prefer to play at home...We have generally gone ok at the G this year..especially if dry. For mine trapsing across to Adelaide of venturing to slippsville Gabba is a roll of the die I'd rather not take , if not required. I dont really see the point of killing ourselves to finish 2nd...if that risks the greater ability. Just my view... and it doesnt really matter much as I have no ability to control the outcomes

Training Ground?
Caulfield is LITERALLY...not figuratively...but ACTUALLY the Geo Centre of Melbourne...is does not come any more CENTRAL than Caulfield. Parking for who...you ?? who cares..No disrespect but training facilities are about the Club and Players. There is NO WHERE in the Port area that has the potential space that Caulfield has. As to how amenable either is... the Port area is easily tied up with traffic . There will be ample parking within any new development... It will be accessible via all three modes of PT It's time to move on from this idea of we MUST be next to Mummy G...I mean ffs... Great Sporting Clubs around the world pick locations that afford the greatest potential to create world class facilities...they are often NO WHERE near where their so called 'heart' exists. Caulfield is a very rare opportunity.... if we dont do something we'll be nomadic forever.

And we dont know whether it was a Stiton or strong cheddar in the Shiraz hamper.. Its irrelevant.. it would have been our possession. That's actually important in the scheme of things.

Might just be me... We had the Filths measure ...when they had their Macedonian Marvel..... and Moore. Both major contributors to their game that day. Next time we meet.... they dont. We are their worst mightmare QF1... bring it. The wobbles are strong with them....

I was gob smacked watching that ...thinking.....he just got 'tunnelled'....and then....crickets... commenatry rather quiet about it too... not surpising that those cowardly lackies wouldnt have the bottle to ruffle feathers......( nor accreditation )....only one voice even heard to mention 'tripping'....(Pearce) I can understand putting the whisatle away in some respects vis a vis generl play perhaps but that was such an obvious free...if not something for the MRP !! but no........what a joke

PREGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
Its a good question... .. tbh.. ive noticed a lot of hype at times... a lot of brouhaha etc.. but i never noticed a decernible change in effort.. i.e the wrapping might have got louder/brighter but the box remained the same. Thats not to say i never witnessed or felt a sense of occasion but the teams i played in just played to their ability.. we didnt have a switch to flick or gears to change.. Interesting what others may have experienced...
