In a fashion I agree....that Sunday was a game .....completely unto itself. The West Coast debacle was bad enough but in a fashion at least we seemed to be there....just played like [censored]. Sunday...ooooohhhh......had a bit of "Picnic at Hanging Rock " about it....i.e...bad juju. What happened out there was quite odd . We had our own 'dimension' all to ourselves.....shame it wasn't the one the game was played in.

The problem in myview of it, is Fritta is an "opportunistic" forward... Yes he can and does lead but he's not the #1 KPF as such. When someone is playing that role(kpf1) with even a minor amount of effectivelness it releases Fritta into his own world. And thats fine.. At these times he's very very hard to match up on and contain as he only needs an inch. When we have a shambles of a Forward setup with NO ONE effectively playing a true #1 kpf ( someone might be named....but not doing it welll ;) ) then the Oppo can tie up Fritta. This has been happening of late. He's paid a lot more attention. I dont put that on him..Thats fairly at the feet of the FD...

sobering.....and hard to argue with. It actually quite eloquently sums up where we are. Bit harsh on Petty. I would have thought there were worse. I honestly think its a bit strggle street from here on in....short of some miracle or two. Someone(s) has to find the form of better times...and perhaps someone might step out of the shadows. The problem with Petty ...imo. .. is he has patches of brilliance.. and like a light bulbs element that burned too bright.... just goes out. If all our list played to potential....well...make room in the silverware cabinet. But we don't. In truth you seldom get any team's players to all fire as hot on the same day. No wonder we like Alice and Darwin... our lot love to go walkabout. I think the most important thing Goodwin needs to do before this game....before that 1st bounce is say unto his charges... "Simon says: Play Football".. and do so in a very calm but menacing tone..... followed by... 'if you can't.... consider your futures" This lot need a good clip around the ears at times. They lack attention, they lack effort. Must be soul destroying for the handful that DO bust a gut.

Quite succinct. We are most definitely trending downwards. It's not pleasant to watch. This coming week is akin to shuffling deckchairs aka robbing Peter to pay Paul . The unfortunate reality is we just don't have enough fit and or in form players to be a cohesive unit. The 3 areas of play ALL have ongoing problems...ALL at the same time. Very little is functioning as it ought to. And that's the real problem as I see it...there's no fall back position. There's walking wounded out there without doubt. I think some under value just how big an out Lever is. He is imho the most important of the currently sidelined. It's no mere coincidence that in his absence our defence looks like a sieve. Thats not to besmirch May or anyone...just to highlight how much better/effective we were before. We're struggling. May is very frustrated out there...he can only do so much. Some seem much more excited about our list than I am. Much potential spoken of some but little being realised. I fervently hope Simon can find a rabbit to pull out. I also hope whatever it is that's casting a malaise over this group is resolved. Something ain't quite right out there.

Am really only worried about where the PLAYERS are just at the moment. Will only worry about the Board if they (players) dont show ;)

Never said it wasn't. It's a flag. Someone was going to win it...and was us and fully deserving of it. That said. It wasn't like any other season. On one hand irrelevant as it was what it was and we won. On another , in minds of many....and arguably about 90% from other allegiances , some place an* next to it. Is that legitimate? The answer is it's purely subjective and down to the individual. To say some don't see it that way is simply a reality. The other is ... in the history of this game the 2021 AFL Premiers... are us. I'm not feeling particularly close to another just atm ;) Hopefully this changed Go Dees

You see here's the thing . You're quite happy for your opinion. I know many who don't share it May I suggest just suck that up. We won a flag . A great thing. Proudly shown next to my plate (lic). A reality That doesn't mean some don't question it. That's another reality. Sticking your head in the sand or denying there are other thoughts than your own won't change a thing. It may not suit the sensibilities of some but in the minds of many there is definitely an * next to 21. The only way some may remove that is for another flag to be won in reasonable succession. Let's do that and everyone's happy 😊

My biggest concern going into this game , is not that we're seemingly that little red wagon whose wheels are falling off, not that we're obviously carrying players either unfit... out of sorts....both , not that our game seems suited to the skills ( or lack of ) that we possess or that there seems a massive disconnect between, we'll, everything. No, my greatest worry ( if I can even really be so ) is that this again will be that game; our Grand Final in June game. That game we seemingly muster everything left in the tank to at least show some respect for our beloved Rev, to hesitantly offer up something remotely looking like relevance. Win or lose in many respects won't matter as we'll have possibly used up what little we had left and bumble through the rest of the year towards an ingracious capitulation. Now this may not occur. I did say it was a "concern" I'm just not convinced we have what it takes to burn bright for another half of a season. Yes many will offer up past resurgences.. but that was when the side seemed possessed of some ticker. Not seeing much at present. Tbh... the only thing I feel confident about is going to be the ability to play the filth back into form. We weren't just a little bit off last weekend, we were rubbish. It's as though we left our soul at the airport... it never appeared at Alice. WTF is wrong with you Dees.... no joy in writing any of that... just how it is. Back to being fn fuschias... there's no Demon in us atm. Though we seem markedly troubled by some...Sadly Go Dees

Probably one of the most interesting and considered posts....ever ...here. ... kudos. Strangely I feel sympathy for Goody. ( now that's tempered obviously with my general disdain...but as most have never understood my position I neither care or worry ).. yet he's in the poo. Much of his own making but he's been helped along by circumstances and neg-serendipity. I understand he has his beliefs, his ideas ( he can be quite maverick...I actually liked that..esp earlier years ).. but in the poo none the less. Imho he now knows ...the list isn't right.. the game plan not only isn't right but won't work with current list or leanings. Whatever he's been trying to get them do....they aren't. I'm not going to say that performance was actually Simon's fault. But ultimately it's his responsibility, and that of the club. That he essentially stood there at games end and had no real idea as to why is for me the greatest concern. Yes he described the malaise but seemed at a total loss. That summed up the game.....a total loss. A lacklustre parade of disinterested, uncollaborative disconnected players. The absolute antithesis of a 'team'. The elephant in the room has to be the Oliver effect and its knock ons. I'm not blaming him , he's only one player but this year we don't look the same. You can tell when a group march in step.... If there was but one vibe a out that game...it was to me "why bother". What brings a team to that crossroad ? He didn't day it but Goodwin might as well have uttered " well I didn't see that coming" That he didn't might give rise to the thought he wasn't 100% surprised. Annoyed yes, Unacceptable...yes... but unexpected ?? He looked like a bloke whose worst fears just played out for all to see. KB will tell us everything about this club...and it's future. Very good observations. Flag.. I'd say top 8 relevance. The lid was lifted today and all the world could see....an empty chest.. The areas you highlight...spot on. Add another Our Coaching Dept has no real clue about plans and personnel. We have the wrong game and wrong list. Yes ...without doubt a handful of gems. Some about to say au revoir...some off the boil.. some just wasted. Much of the list.....meh. There will be those that say that's nasty, cruel, inconsiderate. To them... I couldn't care any less than I do. They are supposed to be an elite professional club. To be there you ought to be good better than most etc. When there, a usually shortish ( relatively) time you want to be the very best...for you , the jumper,club and fans.
