  1. forgot about that...he may be a saving grace in more than one way :D
  2. Dont think so...not at all.. Anyone with any nouse at all knows we didnt have to finish bottom...we chose to.. We took the bull by the horns and wrestled those picks. We are determined.. We are proactive now not limping reactionaries. My talkings with friends who arent Melbourne all suggest and acknowledge weve played it pretty smart. Optimistic ? yes...Too optimisitc ? NO
  3. is he playing in the midfield any time soon ? My hypothesis is particular to the look and shape of it ( the midfield ) Any corelation to the Cats is pointless. My point is that the midfield, OUR midfield will take on a completely different look next year. A lot quicker and skilled. The decision making ought to take a couple of big strides upwards. You do make a good point re rucking. ..almost a competition with one as to who gets the lollies there. and thats a healthy thing.
  4. 1 and 2 I would think have been locked in for some time.. remember we thought until recently we had Brocky.. now we dont , but we also have a perfect opportunity to trade up !! Ball is a rather good complement to the new kids..not an impediment. Draft picks to remain as were i suspect
  5. would Brock make the 50 ?
  6. come Luke....
  7. We arent the basket case of recent times. Our whole demeanor has changed. Our clawing back of debt our restructure at club level , our remarraige of sorts to the MCC together with a pretty good bunch of draftees now and to be make us a completely different fish. I forecast here and now that much of the press leading into season '10 will be positive. We'll be the team to watch. Now Im sure the MFC can do that same spin on Ball
  8. a somewhat damning prophecy ...based on ?
  9. just out of curiosity ...anyone know who Connors handles at Melb ?
  10. I concur..in that some seem to think it'll be 5-6..im really thinking 2012 onwards.. esp if we get to play WS twice...
  11. Weve got picks 1 & 2.. now all but Daisy the cow and Drongo Dave seem to agree that this will be Scully and Trengove or at worst Trengove and Scully !! If we were to say hypothetically pick up the Ball ( yes, intended ) at the PSD then , and if we can harness the force...we'll have Ball, Scully and Trengove..ably assisted by the likes of Grimes, Morton, Jones and Moloney with Blease and Strauss still to come. Its just mind-boggling how all but overnight how much sharper, quicker and skilled that midfield becomes. some blokes are really going to have to train and play their guts out if they want to press for this new Melbourne...great isnt it oh..btw...put it in the drafting sides of things..as none of those three are actually here yet !!
  12. Geez..the ol club didnt waste much time deleting him off the players page...
  13. quite possibly...is he actually out of contract ? am unsure
  14. Dees officially interested in Ball Dees declare interest
  15. Well boys and girls the madness of trade-week is over. As I have suspected for some time it was a most robust session this year with an amazing amount of players now needing to talk to real estate agents But as is the way of these things...not everything that could have been..is !! Some parties who were ceremoniously ( or unceremoniously ) put on teh table with or without prior warning will be considering their options. Some bridges if not burnt are definitely in need of major repairs and some wont survive them. There will be players who now consider the PSD their only salvation ( or face saving outcome ) So who are they ? I would have to think that Luke Ball is an obvious candidate as its unlikely it can still be all buddy -buddy now at Saintsville. Who else ?
  16. I wonder what odds I can get for Lions in the 8 or top 4 for that matter
  17. No No No.... you like a lot are overlooking the rational.. yes there is a smaller catchment.. 8 months v 12.. BUT... the argument that the draft is particualrly shallow doesnt hold. heres why. The thrird missing are all kiddywinkies...they invariably go much later in teh draft or a re rookied. The argument that the draft isnt good through to 50-60 as it might normally be ( subject to available talent of course ) would only be unequivacable if there was an EVEN distribution of all ages through all the earlier picks...and quite plainly that doesnt happen.. Invariable the older more experienced ones get picked earlier... So it stands to reason that if the draft would normally hold something through to 70-80 ( not brilliant I concede ) that its at the back end of the list that the compromised age groupings will most affect. The only truth is there are fewer candidates.. but that does not equal shallowness as a given. There will always be the odd youngen that went early and its only these very few that would be eliminated from the top 50
  18. Only Collingwood love fraser.. he's zilch to any other club
  19. I still amazed that people are suggesting the draft will peter out so quickly. Thats crap. The compromise is that the bottom end 17 yo olds are not there.. Now how many of them normally are the cream of the crop and get taken before 50-60 ? very very few.. This draft like most is still good to 50..just depends as always on what you want..what you need and the level of homework your scouts and recruiters have done
  20. and some silly people said it was going to be a quiet trade week always going to go gangbusters...it had to
  21. Bradshaw will play back.. Brown chf..Fev FF
  22. the Filth will mop up now and grab Ball now theres not much else for them to get
  23. seems the Hun still hasnt got wind of it...the plebs !! edit...finally....slow as ....
  24. Steve Lavell: The Brendan Fevola deal is done. He's heading to the Lions. Lachlan Henderson and pick No.12 to Carlton for Fevola and pick 27.
  25. ticket tape gone quiet...must be something looming..
