...
with the departure of Simon Buckley the #1 jumper is now vacant, sorry to be so quick Simon..
so was wondering what others think about
seems more befiitting...dont you think
Well the first thing that came to mind re Martin is that hes a sort of Mr Fixit...so we're similarly minded here. its handy to have a chameleon type player. Depending on the day he can adjust the balances as required. As he gets more of a mature body with associated strength then he will really provide dividends. In two minds whether to lob him in "a" position or multitask him as at present. All in all hes been one of the surprise packets and highlights over last couple of years.
yep.. the better ones dont.. thats the whole point. Whilst he surrounded by options that anyone can provide to yo look really good.. When faced with lesser choices the poorer thinkers commit the greatest mistakes. This essentially is exactly whay plays out with Bruce. His limitations are highlighted when he cant get away with murder.
Further to this we will receive a benefit through out the calender year as per games and deals etc but they are reported in the corresponding financial year. So..if there are say 10 h & A games in season 010 that attract money from the MCG then we'll get 1,000,000 . depending on how many fall before or after june30 as to how the differing years bottom lines are affected.
this may only serve to cloud it..lol.
You can of course produce figures to portray the operating period of the season. Like any business can.. hence quarterly statements etc. It gets muddied ( further ) when those reporting the figures themselves are confused as to the actual period it reflects. Players contracts invariably go from 31st oct through til next ) or which ever year) . These cross over accountable periods. Salary caps etc reflect the playing seasons but the tax dept doesnt really care about this..( other that how it treats sportspersons and thats a whole other explanation ..lol ) So strictly speaking when clubs announce...or publish their financials they are as per the tax year.. But to confuse, many commentators speak of them as though calender ( in ignorance...how amazing )
When the MFC release their figures they are as per business..July/June... but may contain explanations that are Jan/Dec ..
clear as mud isnt it !!
This to me is always a furphy... a really good player is simply really good. A failry good player can be made to look far better if he has the support etc. If youre good youre good..if not..youre not. Judd would look good in any side.. Cousins still looks good at Richmond !! . Real quality is always there to be seen...other times its the appearance without substance...... otherwise known as an illusiion
profit and loss is profit and loss. The books for the club still run from July to June...like every other business in the country. They may show "other' tallies encompassing the calender year in various reports but the bottom line is our fiscal situation is benefited next year. It will only effect half the years income period ( or less really in terms of games )
ah..see heres the thing.. Im not necessarily blaming Bruce..I commend him for his efforts..its his results that speak for themselves.. He's an atrocious kick and a hospital handballer. Whether its particularly his game plan to do so is irrelevant as he's plainly incapable of executing it. So whilst the instruction may not be his , the actual 'doing so" is.
Seems funny how so many cant get passed this.
Along with many others I always suspected we'd look to get on board 6 new faces for 010. With Buckley and Valenti delisted today it would seem now we are able to exercise picks 1, 2, 11, 18, 34 and PSD1 assuming we will bail on the draft after 34.
The club has spoken
well dare I say it..or even raise the old harbinger of attendances ? As we get better.. we'll be more watchable to many who for whatever reason (and its theres after all) to attend games.
It wouldnt surprise me a bit if we get a few more lower tier partners/sponsors as well.
We might have been a bit on the nose for some but were about to turn the corner...with that comes benefits...one is money !!
