  1. It's more like an ongoing nightmare following the Dees. Good luck with the jumper - I sometimes see Garry Baker around kids sports events so will ask him about it. He still keeps in touch with #31.
  2. No - think you might have been a year behind me - ie you were U10 when I was top age U11. That would place that GF around 1973 by my reckoning by which time I had moved up to U13. Same as Tim D.
  3. demons64 (aka JC?) - we trained and played together in U10 or U11. The jumper was a bit like a skirt on you too as I recall.
  4. As someone who played with the little brother of meccamike (i think they shared the jumper) I can verify the jumper was in the care of his family. I so wanted that jumper! mecca recounted this story when we met again some decades later and I asked about its whereabouts. Would luv this mystery to be solved. A true piece of MFC history.
  5. my thoughts exactly - sell these and I will buy at least one and the club will make money. Debt demolition done.
  6. Ray Shaw did same to me playing DVFL when he was finished and I was a kid - I gave him a bath in a final and he spat in my face. Whole family is the eptome of Carringbush. My tenuous link to one of the great dees - but I thought he only confesed to doing it to #3.
  7. The little I have seen of Tom Dean on TV he looks a player. What's his story?
  8. Loved the reaction on the 9 footy show - utter disbelief by all and pondered the concerned umpires future in the game.
  9. Could always play it on the gravel oval on the West Coast of Tasmania - and get a crowd bigger than any game at the Gold Coast would attract. Good TV ratings too I'd imagine.
  10. Yeah - big turn out at GC again. Tassie would have got twice that at the gravel oval in Queenstown.
  11. Taswegian is NOT correct. The inhabitants are Tasmanians. The trip to Inceston from Hobart is about 2.5 hours on a good day. The road is not safe and public transport options are limited. Until the State decides which city is the capital an AFL team will not be viable.
  12. First of all I beleive it's incorrect to call us Taswegians! Soccer making big inroads statewide - as is hockey. 500K population and reasonable tourist facilities is a market AFL will ignore at it's peril. TV ratings matter I'm told! We could get 15-20 k bums on seats guaranteed each match if we had our own team. Not Sunday games though. A stadium deal to rival Kardinia Park. Best placed in capital though if it wants to be sustainable. Doesn't matter what team you support people would like a Tassie team - would certainly go to any BIG games no matter what their allegiance. The kids would grow up following the locals - I've seen this with Tassie Hawks and am peeved that my taxes pay for this! Given concessions proposed for GC17 and WS we would thrive and be less of a drain on AFL. Perhaps an economist could explain it better.
  13. Wells had straighter, fuller hair - but I agree. I would always try and wear #11 whenever I managed to get a game with any team I played with. I still remember as a kid the article about his first game in the Sun - I wanted to become a signwriter like he was. I have certainly compared #44 with Sam Mitchell - not that's there's anything wrong with that! Go Dees.
  14. Bummers game still not free to air in Tassie. We get to watch Judd live instead. I battle to maintain an interest in our game sometimes - but the kid I saw in grade 4/3 match today makes me realise what a great game we have. Best U10 player I have ever seen
  15. Why would anybody trust anything Endo_Demitriosis said? Maybe we will become the Gold Coast Devil Rays!
  16. Yet they try and argue that a Tasmanian team would not be financially viable or sustainable. Very high risk IMO
  17. My 10 YO son's fave jumper is the red away jumper with the stylised demon M from a few years ago. His friends like it too - even though they dont follow the dees. It's good to come up with a good away jumper to add to merchandise revenue - just not one like this year's farce. I think good away /clash strips are a fantastic idea - especially for us who can usually only see a game on tv (unless it's on pay tv)
  18. Clint is named on zebras bench so he might miss
  19. He could always stand beside the goal post and disguise himself like a stick insect.
  20. It's just a smokescreen to take the heat off the wide support for a Tasmanian team which they are choosing to ignore. Impale youself Vlad!
  21. bringing the gaame into disrepute - should get a year courtesy of endodemitriosis
  22. 'Tassie' johnson made the list
  23. you won't find any negative posts from me anywhere about the kid - like the little I had seen before he played. like him more noew - he's tasmanian - look out he might come home!
  24. This persons actions are far worse than anything Ben Cousins has done - Cousins has been banned "for bringing the game into disrepute" If the NCA had not been folded because of political pressure he would certainly not been held in the high esteem he is by "the top end of town". F1 racing is great if you like Nazi themed parties. I could not support the club financially while such a person who brings the game into disrepute is at the helm. I would jump straight back on once he left.
