  1. I'm hoping McCarthy is Freo's target, not Hogan...
  2. their spread and run is extraordinary.
  3. 43-1. this is amazing.
  4. the hoff. i just love him.
  5. port looking sensational early days. meanwhile, gws are super, super impressive. freo-sydney to come. good day of footy!
  6. Heppell is a star isn't he. Makes you wonder how he lasted so long in his draft year...until you remember the nefarious shenanigans the Peptides put together to ensure he fell...
  7. next three rounds are huge, for sure. god that was good.
  8. 58,000 there. god i hope this anzac day eve game becomes a permanent fixture.
  9. tyson would be twice the player if he could kick.
  10. my god i am in love with jesse hogan.
  11. jetta out of the game having failed a concussion test. salem reading the ball across half-back like hodge at the moment.
  12. Damn shame. Michie gets a chance early.
  13. With the CBA to be negotiated over the next two years before coming into effect in 2017, $650k could well be 'unders' for a 5-7 year player.
  14. Market forces will determine his worth. If other clubs are offering him $550-650k a year then, guess what, that's his worth! He's a valuable swing man who can take a big grab and regularly gets 20 possessions a game pushing up from half back when he's playing defensively, providing run and attack. Worth it, but it's going to depend on what we get offered as he's not a free agent - if it helps us land a Shiel or a Treloar, bye-bye Jeremy!
  15. Chaplin and Newman both out hurts their experience, but increases their speed of ball movement - no one hatches an egg quite like Chappy.
  16. But those that I've advocated as poaching order don't include their high price acquisitions who lead their kids: - Ward - Griffen - $cully - Palmer They've got players who'd be starting mids for most other sides playing as half forwards and half backs on a permanent basis.
  17. The worst aspect of all these mooted trades is that gws will retain picks at the pointy end of the draft to replenish their list if they lose one or two youngsters a year for the next five years, before they start becoming free agents. It's hard to see them or gc17 getting worse. My order of preference to target: - Treloar - Shiel - Whitfield - Kelly - Coniglio - Hoskin-Elliott - Smith - Greene - Bugg The amount of depth they have running through their midfield is scary.
  18. Easy to justify: getting Judd set the expectation that Murphy would escape tags and thus become a super productive high disposal, high efficiency footballer, as would Gibbs. Fact remains teams are primarily happy to let Judd go tag-free and focus on Murphy and Gibbs as - because of the inside role Judd has played at Carlton - they can't handle it the way Judd can, and continues to do. Murphy reminds me of McLean - I think his afl career won't last as long as you'd expect, due to a lack of speed and injuries catching up with him. Better skills than Chook, but not by as much as you'd expect.
  19. midfield simply doesn't have enough depth to challenge for top 8 spot. even the pretty ordinary sides bat deep in the midfield. structurally we're okay.
  20. time waits for no man prodee. too old for us, and carlton are going to want far too much for him. the same goes for gibbs - he's just that little bit too old for our make-up, and carlton are going want too much for him. to be honest the players on their list who do interest me are those i think they'll probably be most keen to retain: menzel buckley cripps yarran henderson everitt tuohy i think their list is in bad, bad shape.
  21. surprised how many sub-180cm players are in that lot.
  22. not the all-conquering cats of yore tho, are they?
  23. think i actually did this speculation back in march...
