  1. Good, sensible pick - we are desperate for more midfield options, and he provides that from the get go; I guess he replaces Maynard on the list in 2020 and has a decade of youth and future football development ahead of him Would probably have gone in the first two rounds at some stage of this yearโ€™s end of season draft from all reports
  2. lots of speculation that north will look to ship out mid-level to senior experienced players in order to get draft picks in, but who would you look at? luke davies-uniake: no way they're giving up a high pick at this stage, despite how ordinary he looks (20 at start of 2020 season) ben cunnington: workhorse who just wracks up the ball and quietly goes about his business (28) jy simpkin: talented but doesn't work nearly hard enough defensively (22) jared polec: one year in a big money deal, there's no way they'd trade him out (27) tarryn thomas: one of their few young talents on their list, again no way they'd trade him (20) ben brown: key forward who is good in the air and a deadeye [censored] but a liability at ground level (27) basically i don't think there's much on their list to poach from tbh it would seem that they'll have a complete changeover in their footy department, but i don't know who of the below may appeal to 'freshen up' our approach? brad scott: tactically astute but something about the scott twins has already rubbed me the wrong way gavin brown: senior assistant who has been at collingwood and carlton previously darren crocker: director of coaching and midfield coach, i guess he could be a similar like-for-like with brendan mccartney? aaron greaves: head of player development, literally joined this year along with the two port players he brought with him rhyce shaw: defensive coach, was pretty highly regarded over the previou four years at swans, has just joined the kangas this year jared moore: stoppage coach, they're terrible at stoppages so now way you'd look at him leigh tudor: forwards coach, another senior assistant coach who seems to have been around for ages, having served at swans, saints and cats prior to joining the kangas in 2013 tbh, i think we'll probably be looking for someone to replace mccartney, so i guess from that perspective those such as crocker and tudor may hold some appeal
  3. if he's as good as lockhart, why not? it's obviously not going to happen
  4. given the pedigree, you'd hope we don't overlook dunkley it really is pot luck with this stupid thing - just gotta hope ya land a surprise tim kelly / sydney stack / mick barlow packet
  5. 6: gawn 5: hore (and he had five kicked on him!) 4: viney 3: frost 2: baker 1: petracca
  6. from 2008 to 2014 my general rule of thumb was 'opposition doesn't crack 100 points that's sorta kinda a little bit almost but not quite a win, right?' that's almost a win today tally ho dees!
  7. baker better than many senior teammates
  8. i don't understand why we're continuing with what's not working in terms of oliver, viney, harmes as the core trio in the middle alongside gawn i'd try mixing it up - throw viney and oliver forward for petracca and brayshaw into the middle, for starters - brayshaw can't play anywhere other than in the middle anyway, so might as well play him there
  9. angus brayshaw is one of the worst users of the football i have ever seen
  10. it feels like 2013 all over again
  11. brayshaw looks completely disinterested typical melbourne player; had his best year in his contract year
  12. massive tackle oliver on coniglio
  13. maggots gonna maggot... well that was an appalling quarter and we're only 10 points down
  14. brayshaw goes the bump not the tackle wtf
  15. both sides awful so far tbh
  16. my god brayshaw is so slow
  17. we haven't had it forward yet, which is a bit ominous
  18. our disposal is, as ever, atrocious
  19. not really... afl: https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/afl-to-announce-2b-broadcast-deal-20150818-gj1ppz.html News Corporation to pay about $1.3 billion of a record $2.508 billion six-year deal the league has struck nrl: https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/nrl-inks-18-billion-record-tv-rights-deal-20151126-gl8nvg.html News Corp's Fox Sports set to pay around $1 billion for the pay television portion of the rights cricket: http://theconversation.com/seven-and-foxtel-snag-cricket-rights-meaning-more-content-but-maybe-not-for-free-94976 Foxtel will pay A$100 million per year and promises to โ€œshow every ball of every over bowled in Australiaโ€, also part of the new deal. Foxtel will have a dedicatedcricket channel. so it's actually: afl: $1.3bn / 6 years = ~$220m pa nrl: $1bn๏ปฟ / 5 years = ~$200m pa cricket: $1bn / 6 years = ~$170m pa a LOT of that value will be contra advertising too, so the actual cost of it could be less
  20. those numbers are wrong; news corp's contribution is more like: afl: $1.3bn / 6 years = $220m pa nrl: $1bn / 5 years = $200m pa cricket: $800m / 6 years = $133m pa (although this last one is a guesstimate cos i couldn't find actual breakdown of figures it's not fox sports tier 1 sports that are a drain on foxtel finances
  21. the general consensus seems to be that scott has another gig lined up, be it at carltank or the aints i think he's tactically quite astute, but i'd argue north's list is 'better' than carltank's, and about par with the aints it's not like his twin, who inherited a champion team - if they hadn't won that premiership in his first year in charge i wonder what would have happened to him, given the puddy tatts' taxpayer advantages and incredible 'star' recruiting really, cats should've at least made a couple more gf's in his time at the club and, fwiw, i think the cats are clearly the premiership faves at this point in time
  22. i disagree; he's no daisy but he's better than ling, bartel, or most others i wonder what crowd this dreamtime game will get given the weather? amazing how meth coke just keep winning despite not looking good; sure the umpire's helped but they know that they're never out of it
