2019 Player Reviews: #9 Charlie Spargo
an encouraging 2018 was let down by a diabolical 2019 he had a fair whack of injury this year and he clearly stagnated in a poor side interesting that they tried him further up the ground in the latter stages - he doesn't seem like a natural ballwinner like caleb daniel, so i'm pretty uncertain as to what 'role' he can - groom him as small defender?

2019 Player Reviews: #10 Angus Brayshaw
one of the most frustrating players to watch - his efforts are too poor too often seems to jog from contest and contest and regularly does not 'go' when it's his turn seems to be unable to use the ball well by hand or foot; i know his claim to fame in underage football was that he was dual-sided, but i didn't realise that he wasn't particularly good on either

2019 Player Reviews: #11 Max Gawn
absolute superstar three time all-australian, including once in a team that finished second last - there's not many players that could claim an 'honour' like that it's amazing the dominant ruckmen we've had in the #11
-
2019 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca
ball drop is miles too high, he looks like he's about to pack his dacks every time he has a set shot but my goodness he's fabulous to watch in traffic i really rate him and think he'll be a very good player

2019 Player Reviews: #7 Jack Viney
most important thing is that he got through a full season he had some right barry crockers; but he had some good games too i want that beast mode viney we had back
-
2019 Player Reviews: #8 Jake Lever
have full faith he'll be a vital player for us for a long time the most important thing is that he got back and got a taste of footy again last year

Buckenara: Dees List Overrated
there's a few i disagree with him on; have added langdon and tomlinson too Here’s my breakdown: A: Max Gawn, Clayton Oliver B+: Tom McDonald B: Steven May, Christian Salem, Christian Petracca, Jack Viney, Jake Melksham, Ed Langdon B-: Nathan Jones, James Harmes, Angus Brayshaw, Michael Hibberd, Bayley Fritsch, Neville Jetta, Adam Tomlinson C+: Mitch Hannan, Aaron vandenBerg, Jayden Hunt, Alex Neal-Bullen, Marty Hore C : Oscar McDonald, Joel Smith C-: Billy Stretch, Kade Kolodjashnij, Braydon Preuss, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Corey Wagner, Josh Wagner Developing*: Jake Lever (B rising to B+ / A hopefully), Sam Weideman (C+ rising to...?), Harrison Petty (C+ rising to...?) Developing: Charlie Spargo (C+), Oskar Baker (C)), James Jordan (n/a}, Tom Sparrow (B-), Toby Bedford (n/a), Aaron Nietschke (n/a), Austin Bradtke (n/a), Kade Chandler (C-) i've added grades for the developing* - i think both weed and petty can be best 22 players for us, and think that their performance could be key for us going forward if my way of thinking of it is if you add all the a to c+ers and the three developing* then there's 24 players that ideally would be in our best 22, plus the addition of preuss and joel smith would take it to the named squad of 26...at least until we (hopefully) add some high class kids to the squad at the draft B: Jetta - May - Hibberd HB: Salem - Lever - Harmes ? Langdon - Brayshaw - Tomlinson HF: Petracca - T Mac - Melksham F: Fritsch - Weideman - Hunt Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Jones - Hannan - vandenBerg - Petty Emerg: Preuss - ANB - Hore - Smith

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
carlton need pick 9 in order to ensure they have collateral for swans with papley - i can't see what they would have that would tempt us to part with pick 3 from a draft pick perspective
-
Splitting Draft Pick 3
it's going to be interesting to see what happens i'm not sure we'll necessarily look to add a player from gw$ i wonder if pick 6, pick 18 and a future first would be TOO much draft collateral for the franchise to give away in order to get it... if they came with that sort of offer it'd be pretty tempting

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ED LANGDON
excellent result!

Farewell Sam Frost
makes sense, particularly the bundling for next year
-
Farewell Sam Frost
and $650k saved in salary
-
Farewell Sam Frost
values frost as a pick in the lower 30s - about his value not fussed tbh as if we're any good he shouldn't be in our best 22

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
in a heartbeat wouldn't pay hill $900k a year tho

Sam Gray
My impression has always been that he’s a bit lax defensively

Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
maybe if you nominate a player i think it's cos you genuinely WANT him - we certainly would've taken both heeney and mills when we nominated them in consecutive years, but swans were always going to match green is meant to be a very inside midfielder type, i believe? we are not really in the market for one of those neither are adelaide with both crouch bros, sloane as their core midfield trio, plus gibbs as well under a new coach BUT if we do think he's the third best player in the draft - and there seems to be some love for that school of thought in some quarters - then perhaps we will nominate him if we have pick 3 cos we haven't split it interesting times!
-
Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
if we nominate him, then yes, they have to match pick 3 = 2234 points they need 80% of points in order to 'match' the bid but i was under the assumption that as long as they could accumulate the points with 'extra' picks they had in second and third rounds in order to do so, as i'm sure sydney did when they matched our bid for mills before we took oliver (and thank the football gods they did so!) however, my learned friends on demonland assure me that it's a case of they have to use points from their next available pick (pick 6 = 1751 points), as well as whatever else is required in order to be at 1787 points, which is what they'd need to match as the equivalent of pick 6's points less a 20% discount as an academy matching system whole thing is a farce

Farewell Sam Frost
godwin's law invoked; thread dead

Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
Even if we do, they’ll match Be interesting to see what they offer us for the pick
