  1. I remember George Bissett and Ricky? Spargo often carving up the Dees in the 60s. Sad for FFC that they missed this bloke.
  2. Tinker's cuss
  3. We got a call from Clayton Oliver, which prompted an early renewal. All our bling and glitter duly delivered. No complaints.
  4. This is definitely true. anyone who went to the football in the 70s for example could suck in fantastic atmosphere. now it's silent before games and subsequent breaks in the game are saturated with noise from the P.A and ground announcers. Peak Football Cometh.
  5. Driving to Traralgon and got one of those pesky call centre calls. I said who is it and the caller said Clayton Oliver. I told him he was doing a great job doing a membership drive and our family were all dedicated Dees. He said awesome. So my prompt renewal is thanks to his yet again good work in heavy traffic.
  6. I suppose it should be noted that we also have five good "ins" to replace these discards: Tyson, Lever, Pedersen, Garlett and Bernie Vince.
  7. Scully Martin watts Frawley Howe. So sad to let good love go by.
  8. The AFL is diluting the clubs' brand so that they become the brand. Typical Heysenburg.
  9. Totally agree. Thompson was jet in 2004 when we were charting.
  10. We've leaked Frawley and Howe, so about of leverage would be appropriate.
  11. when was the last time we were this deep in the season and never lost by more than six seven goals?
  12. An absolute ripping video which will keep Melbourne in the public eye through the years to come. I always felt that part of our demise in the 60's was because there was no video record of our greatness, whilst teams like richmond collwd carlton essendon and hawthorn got endlessly played and replayed on television through the decades. as a result we lost many potential supporters andd those teams gained supporter armies whose kids went onto follow the same teams.
  13. Haven't seen it referenced much, but how much of this massive $10m debt can be sheeted home to the coach who in his wisdom decided not to conciliate and thereby cut the Dons losses.
  14. Everything that goes around, comes around. In the 60's, and then with North in the 70's our premiership model was appropriated by the rising clubs. Ron Barassi, surely one of the last 'non-thinking coaches' was able to terrorise talented footballers into becoming premiership bullies, just like the Dees under Smith did years earlier. As far as 6 degrees of separation and a tenuous S.A link are concerned, I think it all started with the post '64 premiership 'championship of australia', when melbourne defeated South Adelaide in Adelaide to win this unofficial title for the third time. South Adelaide revealed themselves to be a highly competitive unit, and showed that south australian footy was definitely on a par with victorian footy, it's just that we stole all the interstate footballers to make our code look good. we tried to bring in darren? jarman in the 90's from s.a as one of our draft picks but he wouldn't come, proudly remaining home to help adelaide win their first flags. now all these years later simon goodwin steps into the hardest job in football - returning our club to their mythical, legendary status.
  15. I used to watch him at Casey when he was much lighter and he moved fluently. And could kick over a jam tin.
  16. Am referring to Walker's unorthodox bowling action. IMO Hogan has done too much weights and walks like a body builder this has made his running action too wobbly. He is trying to counter this with a 'tangled' release.
  17. No wonder Jesse Hogan was given Maxie Walker's old number 1: they both bowl off the wrong foot.
  18. Re-start of the large hadron collider next week may finally prove the existence of parallel universes and disprove the Big Bang theory. One way to test this controversial idea would be undertake a search for a football thread which has Ollie Wines playing at Melbourne, but putting off contract negotiations until the end of the year.
  19. What annoyed me about this decision was my right or wrong perception that Neeld and co were deliberately being hip and 'counterintuitive' ie not picking Wines for the very fact that he was a demon supporter/friend of Viney - Need also coming from 'outside the system'. ... if any of this makes sense.
  20. Offloading Chip and TS for Hoges and now Petracca not a bad second dip... http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-draft-2014-emma-quayles-firstround-predictions-20141126-11uey0.html
  21. just droppped by this demonland-mates page to mention that my just-deleted geelong v hawthorn thread read as follows: "Geelong v 2Pooz, the only game in town. Then, something like, "The Geelong v Hawthorn fixture is the only game worth watching", or words to that effect. Sub-text: too many teams, too many teams locked out of AFL approved elite team status (fixturing, media coverage, blockbuster allocation etc). terribyl Sorry t0 have left my non-relevant thread on MFC matters on the otherwise hallowed demonland threads...
  22. Thanks Macca, great link.
  23. Watching Agar's highlights reminds me very much of Clive Lloyd in full pomp. We, courtesy of Darren Lehmann have found a potential superstar.
  24. Hey, my recent thread announcing start of series got deleted after five minutes. It's just not cricket.
