Lily Mithen off to the Suns?
She has been a great club woman. And her moving on is the ultimate win-win, as we got very good value for her in the trade.

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
What he did was great but he didn’t do much. He definitely contributed but I prefer the ins

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
Outs - Fullarton, Fritsch, Sharp/Tholstrup Ins - JVR, Melky, Turner We must bring in another tall defender. Playing with fire with so few talls in the team. Turner being able to go forward or back is handy. I prefer JVR to AJ as ceiling is higher. Melky straight back in for Fritsch and straight to McGovern. Difficult to split Sharp and Tholstrup without knowing their KPIs but I think both have been ok recently. Whoever stays is sub.

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Richmond
For a game that we are dominating, a 16-8 free kick count against is staggering. Really promising signs by JVR. Missed a few contested marking opportunities early then took a good contested mark followed by a great kick to AJ in the 50. Since then he has been playing very well. Getting loose in 50 for his marks and beautiful kicks for goal. Much needed confidence boosting quarter. Campbell has been excellent, close to our best, but can’t go past Bonner who is having another exceptional game. 28 disposal to half time at 75% DE! Sestan good again and Adams playing well too, with an outstanding contested mark that quarter in D50.

Did Fritsch play the last qtr? Looks like McVee sat it out going by his stats. Hope McVee is back in the seniors next week

Recruiting - where did it all go wrong
Of course our recruiting has been poor. But we didn’t get to this place due to that - we put all our eggs in our champion player basket and they have fallen off a cliff.

NON-MFC: Round 05
Dogs were also missing Liam Jones at that point. Pies were hoisted over the line in that game by the 3 in yellow. It’s remarkable how important Sidebottom and Pendlebury still are to them. Sidebottom is still playing so well.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Tom McDonald used to be great at the blocking for teammates/forward craft type stuff. I know his mobility is not where it was but he could be worth a try again just to support JVR.

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Agree. Given his exception fitness, he is a great matchup for Cameron

Xavier Lindsay Update?
Sounds like a grade 1 medial injury which is generally not long

Time to go Goody?
One of the things that has really frustrated me throughout Goodwin and this list management team’s tenure is their inability to cut dead wood until it becomes bleedingly obvious that they won’t make it. We have the best recruiter in the business and we give him so few picks to work with. Watching Casey (fortunately I missed the main game for a family event) today and last week it is abundantly clear we failed with our delistings at the end of last year. Billings, Verrall, Laurie and Woewodin, with big question marks on Brown, Sestan, Adams, Kentfield and Howes. I’m not proposing they all should have been delisted but it’s too many players who have shown very little and lack outstanding attributes. This has been a pattern with this list management team. Good riddance Goodwin, Lamb and co.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
I think he’s an extra week away. I didn’t hear him mention Jeffo, but I will admit I wasn’t listening that hard.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
I listened to the presser so you don’t have to. Blah blah blah method, blah blah blah not at the level, blah blah. Only useful things that were said were Pickett, Windsor and Lever back next week. Plus Spargo if he gets through the protocols. Re: Lindsay injury, not sure, hadn’t really heard. Which I think is slightly positive as they often know straight away with the ACLs 🤞🏼

Trade Targets
This is the only way we should even contemplate trading Kozzy in the next two years. He is way too important to us.

Trade Targets
They weren’t ’that’ old in 2023 but they really are now and they have brought in zero young talent since then. They still rely on Sidebottom, Howe, Pendlebury etc who are now seriously ancient and will be in big trouble in a year or two regardless of their ability to recruit from other clubs. It costs a lot of cap space to recruit good players from other sides (for example see what Perryman is on, absurd) and most players are quite loyal. It is not a sustainable method. I will enjoy their demise.

CASEY: Rd 01 vs North Melbourne
One of the better games I have seen for us from Fullarton. Baldi was our best. TC was great. Bonner was good, but disposal was iffy at times. Handy game from Langford. Mentha didn’t get much of it but I liked what I saw when he did. Goal kicking was terrible. Lots of very straightforward shots.

Christian Petracca
He is also hopeless.

NON-MFC: Opening Round 2025
Sydney’s backline tonight on the team sheet: Blakey Melican Wicks Roberts Rampe Paton That’s incredibly weak. Blakey is a gun, Roberts and Rampe are good and the others are plodders. Hawks looked good but won’t be getting too worried about them yet. Also, very short injury list. Hate them so I really don’t want them to be good again.

NON-MFC: Opening Round 2025
A cyclone making landfall so close to Brisbane at this time of year is extraordinarily unlikely. They have nothing to explain.

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
Except there is another player we have that Freo want who also has a long contract…

GAMEDAY: Practice Match vs Fremantle
We have overcorrected. Not enough chaos now. Ball movement really suffering without Koz. It is not as bad as the scoreboard given the several easy misses. But Freo are clearly a class above. Opposition players are going to start deliberately leaving Billings open in F50, he is that bad at kicking for goal.
