Club in crisis - Media pile on - August 2024
layzie replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Word for word what Simon Goodwin has said many times in the past. That it's a work in progress, never finished. Really profound things actually but then the people turn it around and say he's talking it too much. Things might have happened in the past but it's what happens next in terms of our culture that counts for me. As for Norm's executioner list let's be honest, it's 1 x guy that has pumped it into the water supply and everyone else is just a drum circle all discussing what a potential trade would look like. -
Credit to North for trying. They want an experienced fish, we would have done the same.
-
I always thought 'Trouble' was your middle name not your actual name? 😉
-
That reminds me I need another box of business cards 😉
-
I think he'll get there. The guy can coach
-
They tried to. He hated it.

What a career. Forever grateful he came when he did. We love you Benny, you're one of the true good guys of the game.
-
I'm sure everyone will love him for that now.
-
Nah just making conversation.
-
Hopefully something tomorrow

Moar lyke Beau McReally? AMIRITE?

Saad Saad wasn't bad at all either. I had a video file of one of his speccies from around 2005 playing for Seymour on my hard drive about 3 PCs ago. Wouldn't mind seeing it again.
-
Does he live on the second floor?
-
Don't forget 4 x Demonland Player of the Year awards Jaded!
-
Don't forget to bring the Definitive Book of Body Language.
-
So perception is reality? Fair enough. Quite a lot of the time, it is.
-
Well maybe that tells you exactly why they're in the shape they're in!
-
Honestly even a retired Gawn would be better than anyone we could get as a backup ruck right now.
-
Tholstrup's game was excellent. I understand Joeboy's view that he can get the blinkers sometimes but that will come once he adapts to the speed.
-
As in trade to us or trade somewhere else for currency? The latter would be preferable! Archie Perkins would be nice though, good explosiveness and power.
-
Tom Morris might be a half reasonable journo but he's no Allan Pease. I think Viney wants a new contract but loves the club and staying is the no.1 preference. Providing we don't completely insult him on our offer, he'll be a one club player.

Must say I'm a bit surprised by it too. You go from mid last week where people were saying his silent approach was necessary to the silence being deafening and his brand being damaged as a result. I can only think that people think his silence now looks worse after the club have come out and addressed it, did interviews like Pert's and then all rocked up to the GC game minus him.

With all hands on deck is there room for both Petty and Turner in a forward line that also has JVR and Fritsch or will one of them be likely dropping back next year?
-
Yep I totally agree. I almost see it like a first wave of Covid situation when we all had time to think and maybe too much time to think. Many people in my industry ended up moving jobs aroubd that time and I'd say a very large number of us were considering it. His life threatening injury and experience around it could well have put his head in a space it would not normally be in, I'm confident the people in the club see it this way if the media don't.

If a team needs calculus to figure out their finals chances then they are in the wrong job.
