  1. Better kicks and ball users is the first need to address. But gee it wouldn't be bad to have some leg speed out of the contest and ability to spread as well.
  2. You couldn't write a better soap opera. Unbelievable.
  3. Agree, it's a massive loss to our traditional structure. Quite often at the ground during a game I'll focus only on 1 player and Nibbler is probably the guy I do this most with. His up and down running and helping to set defensive structure and the angles he runs is an ability unmatched by anyone on the list, incredibly difficult to replace Personally I see this as a catalyst to continue tinkering with the game style. We need more good distributors off half-back and more speed through the middle. We've started the process on this and while it hasn't been a smash hit we just need to do it better.
  4. Houston, we've got 99 problems..
  5. Class player who is maybe past his prime but still plenty of value to offer, would fit nicely. PS: Only here would we argue over whether he's better or worse than the players that want to leave MFC as opposed to whether he could help MFC.
  6. Yeah something died that night. Obviously when you love the game and the club a big drop off can still make you appear to be a keen fan of the sport to others, but I've totally backed off this year. Barely watch more than one game a week, no footy media, few footy conversations. There's just a limit to how much I can take of this organisation now and plenty more that life has to offer. I've never had it in for Maynard but my beef is completely with the AFL. To not only fail to uphold the rules they created for severe and careless concussion, but to tick off the defense that Brayshaw could have deviated his running path and was thus responsible for his own concussion and retirement?? I rarely go the dogmatic approach on these things but this organisation appears to be fraudulent and has no interest in doing anything about head trauma and ongoing effects. My partner's father who played for the Dogs in the early 70s currently suffers from head trauma symptoms and insomnia. He's mates with Mark McClure who the HS reported a few days ago as suffering from early onset dementia. I want people involved in the game to actually start giving a damn about the remainder of life stuff. As for the thickwit Collingwood and other footy fans who were worried that the game they love where the big men fly and KO each other, would you like to look your son/daughter/grand kids in the eye and suffer from conditions like this? The game doesn't have 50 years left it, hell it doesn't have 30 years left at this rate. Moment in time..
  7. We need to be nicer to each other, this stuff is tearing us apart.
  8. Brodie was excellent in that 22 season in a midfield that often had Mundy coming up to help at stoppages. But apart from having a good clearance game there isn't that much else that stands out. I don't think he has much of a petrol tank and he aint quick, just a nice extractor to get it out to the other guys that we badly need. O'Meara has basically taken his spot. If we could get him for a bag of chips as depth then sure, he could be very useful but I wouldn't see him cracking in to be a regular in our midfield.
  9. "He said to me and the playing group, if he could pick the Melbourne footy club up and place it in Adelaide he would be playing in the red and blue still." Really says all you need to know about the guy.
  10. Well played on the thread title Nascent 😀
  11. Looked great in print.
  12. Yes please. Pace to burn
  13. Maybe Tommo? That's about it though yeah.
  14. For everyone talking about the game style right now both good and bad I have an question for you and I'm keen to hear the responses: - Would you like to see us attempt to play an attacking, free flowing, 'through the middle' style of footy and see us try to develop this even if it means potentially being smacked by 10 goals plus? OR - Do you want to see us go up there and put up a fight with the strangle approach we used against Port? It won't be pretty but if executed we may lose by a small margin or even get a win. Keen to hear your thoughts.
  15. The shot of him had pretty dark lighting, anyone would have been forgiven for thinking it was at the Men's gallery.
  16. Not to mention the desperation to play through the pain for fear of letting everyone down as I imagine this would have been his thinking. Can't wait to get him right again.
  17. Thought you meant the cavalry on the horizon for a moment there! 😝
  18. Excellent. Time to put him on ice. Have a breather Clarry and then get stuck into a ripping pre season.
  19. We clearly have a challenging situation here, there is no point denying it. But denying that these situations never happen in footy clubs in silly talk as well. Point is that there is an issue here and the club now need to work through this challenge to get everyone on the same page again. This is what management is for. I don't like hearing this talk as much as the next person but we can only trust the club to re-pitch to Trac that this is the best place to be, football wise, health wise etc. Like a long-term relationship sometimes commitment is a series of choices and re-choices along the way.
  20. I love the idea of marketing the hell out of it and pumping up the 'putting one over the old enemy' mantra. If the club's comms knows anything about the majority of our supporter base they will know that this would resonate. I also think a win in this game is something you can take into the off season and build confidence. I'm just not so sure on the Brayshaw one, it just doesn't seem like he's comfortable with anything like this right now. Would love to see it though.
  21. I believe that was me and I definitely see your point. While I do respect the approach of not 'meddling' in issues that relate to the day to day football ops, I believe that the club needed to go hard at the AFL after that verdict. It did feel like we were walked on.
  22. I'd say he's just signalled his intentions for the moment Moe. Unfortunately for him this has been leaked out. We could absolutely hold him to his contract and for many other players I'd expect it but I can't see the club doing that with Alex, not after everything he's given us. Good footy clubs do the right things for good people, Nibbler will be a Demon for life.
  23. I've actually considered that DD! Heard people rave about them plus it would be pretty easy to get onto the bike track where I am. Sure is a big gap between those and the bloody scooters!
  24. Haha yeah bit of a footnote in history JD. We traded him for something like pick 45 so he could get more game time elsewhere. The Scott Thompson one did hurt. It all came together before he got hurt in that 04 season, we got Beamer out of it but Scotty was a super player.
  25. Driving in Melbourne stinks right now. I drive 7km every morning and it can take anywhere from 25 minutes to 45. "Take PT then!" Sure why not! What's that? You mean without a car you can't carry more than 10kg of stuff? No worries, I'll just leave the fabric samples/computer/gym gear/anything else bulky at home. Also after an 9-10 hr day there's nothing better than adding another 30 mins on top of that faffing around waiting for buses/trains. When I'm on my death bed my biggest regret will be that I didn't spend enough time on my daily commute.
