  1. Look I'll concede that there was some really strange stuff in this game and a few cruel calls, but apart from the other stuff that we should be focussing on, it needs to be said that this team are experts in giving free kicks away, whether legit or not. We put ourselves in bad positions where your heart is in the mouth because the umpire's whistle is in his poised. Whether it's talking back, not giving the ball back, encroaching, sitting into someone's back (Which I reckon I saw May do at least 3 times yesterday in a tackle and NOT get pinged) we love a good free against. 3 quarter time took the biscuit for me, even throughout this game I felt we were in it, Port played a smart game but hardly a world beating performance. We came out in the 3rd and raised the bar, red time in that quarter was so important as the 50-50 moments ebbed and flowed, it was the most crucial part of the game as we were 11 points down, I remember thinking to myself if we just see this quarter out I will take it. The clock wouldn't count down quick enough but come on guys you can do it. With 3 seconds left Jack Viney takes the ball on the wing, the tackle is dicey but he's pinged for holding the ball. One would think not to bother but with 3 seconds left and the ball on the wing, we're sweet! No, no, no, low and behold a 50 is paid and SPP bins it. I can't tell you how much that moment ticked me off. You are never safe with this team, we have stunk in junk time for a very long time now. The flash through the mind in that moment was "How can Melbourne somehow make sure that before the end of this quarter, the ball sails through the opposition sticks?" When you've seen this crud so many times it becomes expected. The key here is that whether this 50 was a good or bad decision, we constantly put ourselves in stupid positions like this where something like that can happen. The difference between 11 and 17 points at 3QT is a big one. People would be well within their right to complain about this 50 being paid and not the one for Max at the end of last week's game but, we're constantly bemoaning these things when it counts but the sample data over time is that this happens often and isn't a coincidence.
  2. First of all great reference, RIP to the great man. It was very common practice for decades to rest ruckmen in the back pocket. The game has evolved so much obviously and there has never been more versatile and athletic rucks but it was a method that worked well.
  3. The news.com article of this was in my feed this morning and I honestly thought it was something from Betoota. It really seems like jumping on a flavour of the month subject, news suggested that they had to be separated, like the fists of fury were seconds away from flying. It was a robust conversation with no team destroying body language, when the team is playing this poorly I'd expect a few more of those conversations to be honest.
  4. Look the goalkicking aspect is another thing and yes that side of his game does hurt. It would be great if he was good for a goal a week, but it annoys me how we're so reliant on Max dobbing chances to keep us in a game as well. He does have to shoulder some responsibility in that regard but he's certainly not alone.
  5. You just wait for someone to bemoan the fact that it's not the quantity of frees, it's where you get them etc.
  6. Gee Neil must have been some brick!
  7. People are angry and I totally get it. However the one thing I really didn't expect to see on here was a callout on Max for being detrimental to the side and being carried rather than the carrier. I don't know if it's just a troll feeding exercise but there is literally nothing about Max's performances (especially those of late) that are holding us back, making him bigger than the club or hurting us in any way.
  8. Well Jeff White's shins were a good excuse back in the day, we just need another scapegoat.
  9. I want Blake in a new position. Wing/HFF would be a worthwhile experiment.
  10. The measure for me is this: When it became apparent that there was more chance of Ozzy Osborne making it to the stage for the Black Sabbath farewell show on July 6 in Birmingham than MFC making finals, it was done-diddly-done.
  11. Gawn Honeslty any more votes makes my skin crawl
  12. While our streaks over North, St Kilda and Hawthorn have all now snapped. I would really like to somehow get a win over Adelaide whenever we play them. I vowed after the 1 point loss in 21 that we'd never lose to them again.
  13. I reckon we played our grand final on Thursday.

I don't even want to talk about it anymore. There's nothing we can do to help but they do need some help. And a regular psychologist isn't going to be near enough, they need to go to Vienna or something and get a team of the best psychiatrists watching these guys round the clock. How they sleep, how they eat, how they put one foot in front of the other. WE NEED A TEAM. The misses aren't even close, they stink to high heaven. Has Max Gawn ever pushed a miss to the right in his life? Seriously, if he just went right peg every time he'd be Tony Lockett. Tom Sparrow, the worst way to miss a snap from 3 metres out is short. I'd much prefer they go across the face. No-one watches Simon Eishold videos for practice.
  15. Felt like the 'Soft as butter' game from the COVID season where we just refused to acknowledge the other side of the ground. I don't care anymore about results I just want to see us persist with the gameplan that we are trying to achieve. Games like this with the same old method are a waste of time.
  16. They may not be loading but they're definitely a load of garbage.
  17. Absolutely no doubt about that. It flattens the mindset and there comes a point in the game where you just cant get it back. Every team goes through it but Melbourne is hell bent on making it a weekly occurrence.
  18. This bloke had 8 marks inside 50 today. Yes that's the number 8, we're lucky to get that each game. Our once 'No Fly Zone' backline is dead.
  19. How many players on this list can kick a set shot at least 8 times out of 10 when the game is in the balance? I reckon we have maybe 3 absolute tops. The bulk of the list are 4 or 5 out of 10 guys. In games where momentum swings, it stings.
  20. Those Port fans behind Melk can kick rocks
  21. It's pleasing the Ratagolia has his one and only good game against us
  22. I can't make this team do fundamentals properly
  23. What a different game this is if we kick those chances earlier in the quarter
  24. Running out of petrol
