  1. It's hard to argue with people after the performance we put on at the weekend but a Swans supporter pointed out on radio that in Rodney Eade's first game the Swans lost by 90 points to Adelaide in Round 1 of 1996. The score was Adelaide 20.10.130 to Sydney 6.4.40. Their percentage after the game was 30.8%. The following week they played Fremantle in Sydney and the Dockers, who were no great shakes as a football team, beat them 13.22.100 to 9.17.71. After 2 games, the Swans were struggling and they were considered in as poor a light as Melbourne is looked upon at this very moment. They broke the ice in Round 3 against Collingwood, fell in by a point against the lowly Tigers and slowly built up momentum from then onwards. At the end of the year Sydney finished on top of the ladder:- Team Won Lost Drawn For Agst % Pts Sydney 16 5 1 2152 1737 123.9 66 Just because we got flogged and looked terrible first up it doesn't mean it's curtains for the season.
  2. The AFL injury update after round one Melbourne Matthew Bate – hamstring – 1 week Jack Grimes – groin - 3-5 weeks When was the last time we had only two players out through injury?
  3. Can we sneak through a few goals while the lights are off at least?
  4. We can also say that it appears the Doggies fans don't give a rat's either. I decided to check up on their fan sites just in case they might be a source of information this evening and came across two of them:- 1. Bulldogs Barking at http://www.thebulldogsbarking.com/portal/ and 2. Sons of the Scray http://www.sonsofthescray.com/ However, I got the same result when I tried to log on to both sites: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address. So that's it. The Bulldogs' sites are cactus, much like their footy team will be tonight. PS: Looking forward to the scores Diablo!
  5. Boy, we must have blown a fuse last night with our collective concern over Juice's injury and the team's defeat. Hope Juice is well and that the club will give us some good news about his condition soon. A big vote of thanks to faultydet and the other Demon and Tiger sites that were on the job supplying us with dribbles of news from the game.
  6. Freak goal to Nathan Brown, rolled about 20 times and in through the goals. Dees 7-9-51 Tigers 12-5-77 They can't miss!
  7. According to Demon77 on the training thread for yesterday, Benny trained at Junction Oval. He's probably here in Melbourne. We're reliant on Trent Zomer to kick a bag in the last to get us home!
  8. Don't know yet but it's 3 qtr time with Tigers leading 11-5-71 to 6-9-45. For the qtr they kicked 5-1-31 to our 1-4-10.
  9. Unfortunately, it's probably a true reflection of our rucking depth ATM.
  10. Another goal to them, another point to us. Down 20 points now. Dees 5-8-38 Tigers 9-4-58
  11. Ouch. Our kicking for goal is ordinary. Two behinds to two goals this qtr.
  12. Dees 5-6-36 Tigers 7-4-46 Shultz got the first goal of the qtr for Richmond after we scored a rushed behind.
  13. Half time score: Dees 5-5-35 Tigers 6-4-40 According to Faultydet on 'ology our best are Moloney and Sylvia and Richmond's best are Brown then daylight to Delidio. Troy Simmonds is winning in the ruck. He beat Meesen in the ruck contests but Meesen is doing ok around the ground. PJ doing better in the ruck. Game affected by heavy humidity. Newton has two goals, Maric, Weetra and Zomer 1 each. (note: our goalkickers are a reflection of how youthful the side is tonight). Our kicking has let us down. Tigers are kicking to the scoring end. Crowd est'd at 10,000. Davey, Moloney and Meesen are among those who started on the bench. In the other and less important game of the night Essendon is giving the Western Bulldogs an absolute bath 3.11.14.107 to 0.6.9.45 and in the cricket it's pissing down so I suppose the Aussies will win on the Duckworth-Lewis.
  14. DB's made a move. Put Jace Bode on Brown. Dees 5-4-34 Tigers 6-4-40
  15. Nathan Brown (as usual) killing us and the real class player on the ground. Nathan Jones best for us. We're down 2 goals.
  16. Weetra first blood in Q2. We're 10 points down.
  17. We're struggling Dees 2-3-15 Tigers 5-1-31
  18. Dees 2.1-13 Tigers 3-0-18 [Courtesy of faultydet on Demonology]
  19. FWIW Footygoss reports as follows:- Veteran Adem Yze left the field with an eye injury in the Demons’ practice match on Friday, while former Claremont junior Cale Morton and ex-Port Adelaide Magpies player Isaac Weetra were among the better players in the contest. Midfielder James McDonald did not play in the match having duties at his brother’s wedding, while Cameron Bruce remained sidelined with a knee injury.
  20. Apparently, the football dept has decided to close all training sessions with the exception of the midweek one at Trinity. They won't even release the time and venue of other training sessions for fear that spies will watch and pass on the secrets of our new super duper drills. Good for the team but a little disappointing if we miss out on a rare chance to see the boys training on the public holiday this Monday.
  21. One of the features of Bartram's debut season was the fact that he really had great endurance and kept running all of the time. Did he say whether he was doing other activities to keep his fitness up (e.g. bike riding, swimming) during the long period of time he was injured?
  22. How many sponsorships of whatever category does Collingwood have in comparison to Melbourne? I'll bet that it's a lot more in terms of numbers and of sponsorship dollars. If we can cop $300k to $500k from an additional sponsorship like TAC I reckon we grab it and we make sure that all of our players understand the responsibility that goes with it as well as the benefits for the club, themselves and their supporters.
  23. Doesn't that put Austin Woneamirri in the hot seat with 39?
  24. Brad Green was at Melbourne Victory training yesterday. He was probably cementing the Team Melbourne relationship although for them I think it's a case of too little, too late. It was good to read in the Age that Archie Thompson is still a Melbournefc fan.
  25. Whether it's rich or not, it is an indicator of how someone's career is travelling. TJ was a disappointment but whatever you might say about him, he did have one or two good, solid years. In 2002, he was not that far off a Brownlow and had to get votes while Adem Yze was also having a stellar year and in 2005 he did win the B & F in a consistent and solid season. The opening post of this thread adks whether Colin is going to disappoint us in the same way as TJ has and I would say he's well on the way to achieving that distinction. He needs to pull his finger out, stop partying and knuckle down to have a good career.
