  1. According to Josh Mahoney on SEN this morning, it is actually Tami Roos who conducts the meditation sessions with the players.
  2. It is POETS day
  3. Great report Maldonboy. Thanks. I have been of the belief for the last 2 years, that while we won't give the finals a shake in the short-term, our results will improve out of sight, once this list begins to enjoy their footy and feel like they are finally in a real footy team. I reckon that will be the greatest difference under Roos in the short term and we won't have to wait long to see the difference on match days
  4. He's also on the Fairfax payroll. Just doing his job ,which is to be an instrument to sell newspapers. Jolls is a top fella and this news will be tomorrow's fish and chip wrapper.
  5. Thanks Bazza. It is nice that the positivity persists. Subsequent to my initial post, I was told that it was a super impressive night.
  6. Although invited, I was unable to attend a briefing by Peter Jackson and Paul Roos last night in the MCC Committee room. If anyone did attend, can they please give us a summary.
  7. WJ, I've just returned from a weekend away to read your piece. Very enjoyable. Thank you. Just to add my 2 bobs worth and in contrast to your theme: Sad, deserted shore, your fickle friends are leaving Ah, but then you know it's time for them to go But I will still be here, I have no thought of leaving I do not count the time (Sandy Denny - 1967)
  8. Directly attributable to the overall downturn in the motor vehicle industry.
  9. A debate about the worth of a man and his efforts as President at the MFC, descends into personal reproval. Go figure.
  10. With the passing of our Jim, there was a major hole left in the very fabric of our footy club. Throughout his sickness, perhaps the greatest failure was to not address what was an obviously needed succession plan. I would contend, no-one on here can give a categoric summation of Don McLardy's skills or lack of them. He was incredibly loyal to Jimmy, took the reins at Jimmy's request and was faced with a monumental task, few in this land could countenance. HIs was interviewed on SEN - in the main - to promote the Reach Foundation function, which his business sponsors and support, not to mention Don is currently Chairman of Reach. Whatever Don's failings may have been, in terms of his Presidency, I cannot say for certain. The one think I do know however is that he is as passionate about his footy club as any on Demonland, he has poured money into the footy club that he did not need to and worked his proverbial off to keep the club afloat. We may throw as many stones as we like, but that does not diminish the worth and the character of the man. Thanks Don and go Dees.
  11. Sponsors smaller in number, better in quality and dollars invested. Also, PJ recognises that our sponsors need to be better serviced and supported by the MFC. Something that was sadly lacking in recent times. Agree 100% that the worth of PJ to this footy club is incalculable. [edit] as is Glen Bartlett.
  12. Yes. A few mates in the motor trade alerted me. Then again, they're in the motor trade, which begs the questions, should I believe them?
  13. Drawing a rather long bow isn't it? Posts on here are simply observing very un-Sydney like behaviour. Nothing more, nothing less.
  14. If this has any traction, we need to be careful with this one. Word is, things may not be going to well for this mob at present.
  15. it is what it is
  16. No, it appears to be more a thread dedicated to misconstruing its intent and missing the point.
  17. There is no doubt about your premise, but the point is, draft picks, as they were in the past, cannot be seen as a panacea. We are where we are now, because of that blinkered belief. The main point is, there are a number of pieces to the puzzle before we climb up the ladder. Draft picks may be part of the solution in the long run, but certainly in no way, are they the panacea once hoped for. No-one here realistically expects "miracles" from Roos, but our hope is that we begin to see something in 2014 that resembles team, unity and belief. If I see that, I will be happy. Anything else that may come our way will be a bonus as far as I'm concerned.
  18. That is exactly what this thread is about. Our malaise for the last decade or so is down to a naive belief that draft picks alone would do the job, while we neglected to develop from within. That is precisely why PJ was hell bent on getting Roos. A master at developing players, extracting the best a player has to offer and team culture (spirit).
  19. Hawthorn's ruck department wasn't exactly dominant. Hence their joy at getting McEvoy
  20. He's on after 6:00
  21. Surely you don't sack a coach in November, because he goes on the radio and is interviewed? Did he say anything untoward about the club? I'd say there are other things afoot here and Harvey might be coming home.
  22. Just tweeted: GWS Giants ‏@GWS_Giants 18m The GIANTS will have picks 1 & 2 in this year's draft after a deal exchanging Dom Tyson & draft selections to @melbournefc. More to come.
  23. Not to mention he had do it virtually on his own. With a bit more grunt in the midfield and Jones getting a real chop out from others, we just might see him go to another level.
  24. As previously stated on here, the trade period has lost momentum at the present time. It goes on way too long. Compensation picks will be finalised today. I have every faith that Roos and his team will do the right thing with pick 2. The real deals will happen next week and we may just land Dylan Shiels. Roosy is smart and he won't be dudded.
